My business partner and I started a business at the beginning of 2015 and decided to lease a business mailbox at Business Development Centre, since we reside in the north and wanted a Toronto presense. In the contract it stated that we would receive email notifications whenever mail came in so that we may login into our account to examine the details. For two months, waiting for our first cheques to come in, we never received one notification from BDC. We never thought to check our inbox since our cheques were supposed to have been mailed to a different address. Then we sign in around March and realize that there have been 2 cheques sitting there since January. We immediately telephoned the company and were put in touch with Robin W. [redacted]. He explained that because we didn't have mail forwarding that they were not required. His answer was ludicrous and defies the whole purpose of the email alerts. We asked to speak to the head boss and were directed to file a complaint to a generic email, of which the boss would see. The boss's response (who apparently does not have a name) to Mr. Wa. "You deal with them". We tried to negotiate a settlement that would allow the mail to be sent free of charge. They would not budge on anything. Their attitude was go elsewhere.

The company has a poor business motto and their customer service is the worst I have ever seen. For a company who claims that it is not in their contract to alert of incoming emails, they sure do on a daily basis when renewal time is up. Despite our experience we decided to renew another six months hoping that the service would improve - it was too hectic at the time to switch all our addresses anyhow. Same deal. Lousy customer service. We once visited the location to pick up our mail and waited at least ten minutes before Mr. W. availed himself to us. To top it off, about two weeks prior to our renewal date at the end of the second 6 month term they automatically renewed our membership for another six months. We immediately called to get a refund and were told that an administrative fee of 25$ would apply. Despite argument they would not budget. We equated it to the cost of ridding ourselves of them. It took them nearly a month to complete the return. Their excuse "our refund department is very busy". Not surprising! Go elsewhere!! We since leased a virtual mailbox/receptionist.
