Many problems. No response.things just keep getting worse. Roof is failing.
In In November of 2014 I contracted them for a new roof for my dome house. An unusual project, to be sure, but I made sure they had all the instructions from the manufacturer as to how to do it. Those instructions cost me $100, but I wanted it done right.
I couldn't be there to watch the entire process due to medical appointments in Boston, but Paul (the owner) and TJ (his son in law & the manager) assured me everything would be fine.
I wish I could post pictures to show all that is wrong right from the get-go.
There were little things at first I noticed. A lack of overlap at joints where the metal flashing shows through at the windows & doors. Tabs left hanging. Some of the shingles were not laying flat. And it leaked pretty bad around the sky light at the top. The leak couldn't wait so I hired someone else to come fix that since they couldn't come out right away, and told me it must be something else anyway, not their fault, but the rest I was told, would take care of itself over time & the metal showing couldn't be helped they said. I knew right then that this was NOT going to be an easy fix with everything else. Other things that showed up were nails driven through the tops of window frames showing through into the house, the overhang over the front & back doors was nailed back up sloppily & crooked, and OH! I almost forgot about while they were doing the original job they nailed right into the breaker box & caused a minor blackout! Also, while having windows replaced, I found they had NOT put in the flashing correctly OR the barrier & new wood I'd paid them for! They ALSO never replaced the screws that hold the gas lines & vents to the side of the house, and when the snow shed it caused a line to bend and almost break. I had to have the gas company come & fix it to the cost of $200!!
To Sentry's credit the DID make a little 'roof' over the lines on one side of the house & even glued the lines in place. (Seriously? Glued? I hadn't noticed they weren't screwed back on until they broke).
It's 2018 now and I've called NUMEROUS times and they even sent a guy out to take pictures this spring. While he was photographing all the damaged tiles & defects in my roof, including broken & shredding shingles, the gaps between the joints at the window & front door etc., he admitted that this was a real problem & assured me that they would be out soon to rectify the problems.
That was in April I believe.
It's late August now. And my roof leaks so bad that the drywall is cracked & crumbling on the second floor. More of the shingles have cracked & fallen out & it's a complete mess.
I've called, texted & emailed them more than 20 times over the past year trying to get them to fix it. And they always have an excuse why it can't be done right away. I'm sorry for their personal problems, but my house is my main concern & this less than adaquit roof is ruining it.
They are now not answering my calls & emails. I tried calling while blocking my phone # but the won't accept calls with no caller id. I am at the end of my rope here. The roof is failing miserably & after 4 years of calling about each little thing, one at a time as they failed, and their lack of response in actually FIXING things, it's becoming a MAJOR problem.
In just a little time the entire roof will need replacement.
I am still hoping I can get this all fixed (including the ruined drywall upstairs!!) BEFORE winter. And WITHOUT having to file an insurance claim with my homeowners insurance.
I will update if they come through without having to take legal action.

Desired Outcome

I'd either like ALL the issues fixed, including the damage to the interior of my home from the leaking roof, or a complete replacement, done RIGHT this time.

Good morning ***,

I Paul M as the owner of Sentry will have my secretary make an appointment with *** today. I will personally go to her home to review
all of her complaints sometime this week ( whenever is a good time for both parties). We have installed over 2000 roofs in New Hampshire with only three claims of sub standard work or dissatisfied customers.
I will immediately after meeting with *** contact you to let you know how this situation will be resolved.

Regards,

Paul M

Well! Paul came out to inspect. We walked around & agreed that any MAJOR repairs would likely have to wait till spring now, but in the mean time he would send (his) Corning rep out. The rep called almost immediately after Paul & I spoke & arranged a mutually agreed upon time for him to come see the delaminating shingles. ON October 17th he came out & I showed him what was left of the damaged shingles, explaining that Paul recently, as well as one of his people this summer had come to take pictures, and that those would show more of what has been happening. There is still some minor delamination showing, but Sentry had replaced the really bad parts for now. I suggested he look at some of those photos to see what is happening. The rep from Corning WAS able to see what's been happening & said he'd be in touch in a few days. It's now 10 days later & although I got a phone call from Paul (yesterday?)from Sentry saying he was waiting on a call from the Corning rep, I still have heard nothing about any resolution to this problem of the delaminating shingles. I don't have a very good feeling about this at all. As for the hole in the ceiling, Paul told me to have my own contractor fix it & he would refund the cost. I agreed at the time, but seeing how things are going, I think I'd rather he hire & pay a licensed & insured person to do it. I will speak to him about this when (if) he calls back. And as for the matter of the missing or ill placed roof material UNDER the shingles, he said he'd look into it. I know I paid for the replacement plywood, and saw them take the old out, but had to leave before it was actually put in & when I returned it was shingles over already, so I just don't know.
Time will tell I guess. I am hoping for a positive outcome with this, but so far it's not looking good. I'll update later when (if) I hear from them.

In July 2016 I hired Sentry Roofing to replace a 1st floor "Rolled Roofing" situation with "Rubberized Roofing". It covers about 900+- square feet in the shape of a large 'C'.
There were minimal seams to address but that is where the disgusting problem was born! The "Crew" used 3" round aluminum discs(known as 3" Deck Plates, used to hold down the applied "Fiberboard Substrate") to apply the caulking material used, as in smooth out, at each seam. Picture it. The next time you have a peanut butter sandwich use the top of the jar to apply the peanut butter to the bread and you will picture the disgusting end product rendered by such a ridiculous effort here! They should have been using some form of spatula and were NOT!
That has been my complaint from day one, the quality of the work at/upon the seams! There is a horizontal seam near the bottom of each of three areas that is so rough in workmanship the down flowing water hit's the "roughness" and flows horizontal across the roof to a low point and THEN AND THERE exit's the roof.
They sent the "General Manager, one "TJ", to address the "Problem" on 8/3/2016. What happens when the General Manager shows up anywhere? He spends the bulk of his time on the phone conducting other business. He tried to claim he was here working for one and a half hours which is pure garbage! If he worked 5 minutes it would have been a lot and he was NOT here one and a half hours!
By the way - On August 8, 2016 Paul, per an e-mail(hint, hint(hardcopy)) offered to refund my monies($6,600) based on my dissatisfaction with their work. Guess what has not happened yet! Paul also offered to drop off a case of "Sealant" for ME to apply.
On Saturday January 27, 2018 Paul M showed up to look at my more recent complaint of "Failing Seams"(per an e-mail exchange that included PICTURES). He looked over the entire "situation" and thought the problem was that the caulking used was failing, not the seam material itself. He tries to claim that the caulk that is failing is the caulk that I asked them to apply to correct their poor quality of work on day one. Like his crew he gets 'A' for effort but a 'Z' for the course! It was NOT my caulk they applied, it was HIS caulk!
Paul left after telling me that he was going to reach out to he who is their supplier in an effort to get better caulking material. That was the last I heard from Paul. He, nor TJ, nor Michelle the Office Manager, have responded to my multiple e-mails in the last week thus I write this review.
Numerous pictures are available for all complaints about the seams but be advised, they are very graphic and should not be shown to young eyes.
Paul, while I have your attention, DO NOT put foot on my property without an appointment AND my presence!

UPDATE 7/2018 - Caution! I submitted a negative review for Sentry Roofing on Monday 6/11/18 and it was posted shortly thereafter. On Friday 7/27/18, because of that negative review, Paul, the owner of Sentry Roofing, has filed a lawsuit against me seeking $10,000 due to loss of business! Paul even went so far to claim, in his statement, that I had asked his crew, on the anointed day, to take my picture with 2 thumbs up implying approval! BOGUS! I have been complaining about the quality of their work from hour one and, fortunately for me, I have hardcopy proof thereof. You have been advised, multiple times! Based on Paul's actions you too face the possibility of a lawsuit if you hire him, are not satisfied as I wasn't, and file a negative review as I did. Never ever hire Sentry Roofing not even for your dog house!

UPDATE 11/2018 - Be advised - On October 17, 2018 Sentry Roofing and I had a "Court Date"! Paul of Sentry Roofing did NOT show up thus I won by default. Per the Court I had to send Paul copies of all evidence by 10/1/18. I want to guess that Paul saw the 17 Exhibits and 33 Photos and knew he could not prevail against the facts. Paul was to pay me almost $7,000 by 11/17/18 and did NOT. Never, ever, use Sentry Roofing; you have been forewarned! I prevailed by default but that does NOT get me my money! Standby!

Sentry Roofing Response • Apr 12, 2019

In response to *** review dated 7/16/18 I Paul M would like to say that *** just wanted to receive a free roof. His review is full of lies and in no way reflects how Sentry Roofing conducts business. *** sued our company for the entire cost of the job basically stating the same things that were in his review.

We appeared in NH 6th District Court in from of Judge *** on March 5th 2019. I am happy to attach the judges decision that completely absolves us from any wrong doing.

*** after hearing the decision requested the judge reconsider and reverse her decision, this was also denied and the proof is attached.

Regards,

Paul M, Owner

Per Paul's latest submission in which he is calling me a liar in this public forum - Everything, in totality, that I have submitted at this web site, in regards to Sentry Roofing, is the truth and I have pictures and e-mails to offer as proof thus the reason my roof is NOT featured in Sentry Roofing TV Ads! I did not lose my Small Claims Case against Paul and Sentry Roofing because of lies as Paul is trying to claim. The Judge wrote, "...although the roof with its peeling caulking and bubbles may not be aesthetically pleasing; there was no evidence provided that showed that the roof had failed or that there was any true damage." The "bubbles" were FREE but I did not want any! If I was after a "Free Roofing Job" why did I wait almost 2 years to the day to file my Small Claims Case against Sentry Roofing? I tried for almost 2 years to work with Paul and he blew me off! Paul came here on Saturday January 27, 2018 to look at the failing seams, basically one and a half years after the roof was done, and Paul told me that he was going to talk to his "Supply Guy" about getting a "better caulk" and get back to me. I patiently waited till June, over 4 months later, and then sent him numerous e-mails reminding him and he never responded. I then filed the negative review here at Revdex.com and he, again, never responded. I waited over 2 more weeks for some form of response and when Paul did not show any signs of life or interest that's when I finally filed my Small Claims Case against Sentry Roofing. I have not had much luck lately getting Paul's attention when needed but I want to guess that the pending Defamation Lawsuit that I recently filed in Superior Court(hanging on your front door) will certainly get a rise from his fries!
