Review: [redacted], the owner of Sequoia Landscaping, Inc. contracted with us to install a patio and walkway around the house using pavers and poly sand between the pavers.

Unfortunately, whatever he used between the pavers was not poly sand because after only two years, the sand has washed out of some joints and ants have burrowed through in other places.

I had the patio and walkway inspected by other professionals doing this work, and the unanimous conclusion was that poly sand was not used.

Mr. [redacted] refuses to acknowledge the omission of the poly sand bur promised to pay for the replacement of the sand. After we obtained two estimates and submitted them to Mr. [redacted], he reneged on his promise.

It will now cost us over $2,200 to replace the sand.Desired Settlement: We would like Mr. [redacted] to pay for the replacement of the sand as he promised.

This letter is attached above along with supporting documentation.This letter is in response to the complaint filed by Mr. [redacted] on September 3,2015. Mr. [redacted] contacted us in July to discuss the problem he was having with the ants coming through the poly sandand for Mr. [redacted] to go out and take a look at it. Mr. [redacted] went out andexplained to him that he needed to contact an exterminator to take care of theant problem and to contact us so that we could come out and add more poly sandto that area. We were not going to charge him for this as a courtesy. He saidhe would do that. A few weeks later, Mr. [redacted] contacted Mr. [redacted] againstating he had a couple other companies come out and that they determined thatpoly sand was not used when the patio was installed. Mr. [redacted] and arepresentative from our supplier went out again on August 20, 2015 to take alook at the issue. The representative from our supplier confirmed that it waspoly sand that was installed. They also took the receipts from when wepurchased the poly sand but Mr. [redacted] insisted that it was not and did notbelieve the receipts were for the materials used. He also expects for us to cover the cost foranother company to come in to do this work and has threatened to contact alawyer on numerous occasions. We know that we used the poly sand and have allthe papers to prove it. This patio was installed over two and a half years ago and it wasn’t until a couple of monthsago that Mr. [redacted] contact us about this issue. The poly sand is not something that isguaranteed for life and should be maintained by the homeowner. It also does notguarantee elimination of ants and/or other insects. The technical data sheetspecifies that it “deters ants and other insects” not eliminates them. Pleasesee attached technical data sheet.
