Review: Dear Sirs or Madam On 2/**/15 I paid for a funeral. I paid the money to a [redacted]. Two days before the funeral 3/*/15 I told [redacted] to cancel the limo service, but because she was friends with the mother and the daughter she never cancelled the limo service. She asked me how was the mother and daughter going to get to the funeral services. I told her it was not my concern. I wanted to cancel the limo service. And as I said I asked her to do it 2 days before 3/*/15. So when I asked for my refund. She told me in e-mails that I have to wait for the mother to collect on a life insurance. And that I had to wait for the daughter to get her income taxes back. At this stage I did not due any type of business with the mother or daughter. I put my money in the hands of [redacted] of Serenity Funeral Service & Cremation. Who is telling me I have to wait on other people to get my refund from this company. All [redacted] had to do was cancel the limo service and give me a refund. Her business ethics are not good (they are grimy and shady). I was a paying customer that she is trying to take advantage of because she was friends with the mother and daughter. And handled her self in a very unprofessional way. Instead of just doing what the paying customer asked her to do. she took it upon her self and did what she wanted to do cause she was friends with them. Instead of giving me my refund I had to be put through a lot of drama over the limo service that was cancelled. And a other under handed thing she did was try to add 3 grave plots to my bill. How professional is that????? she should not have this kind of profession.Desired Settlement: I want this matter to go to court. I would like for her not to be able to practice this business any more. I would like for her to loose her license.

Response:

[redacted] agreed to pay for the entire funeral in full. [redacted] not being a spouse or next of kin knew that she was paying for the funeral expenses but had no authority; according to the deceased mother and sister; the deceased had several spouses and only one licensed marriage to a [redacted] (living in South Carolina) who gave me verbal permission over the phone for [redacted] the sister to handle all funeral arrangements It was stated at the funeral arrangements that any refunds would go to [redacted] within 30-60 days after the funeral. [redacted] ordered one ten passenger limousine for the deceased mother ([redacted]) because she had no way of getting to the funeral or burial. [redacted] canceled the family car the [redacted] of March the day of the original funeral. This car had been ordered by [redacted] two weeks prior to the funeral. There was ample time to cancel; however I pleaded with [redacted] to allow the car to take the mother to her son's funeral / burial, and I guaranteed her she would be refunded when the mother received her insurance funds or 30-60 days after burial by Serenity. [redacted] was paid $655.00 on April **, 2015 and the check was cashed on April **, 2015. [redacted] wanted the death certificates to be corrected from Springfield Cemetery to Oakwood Cemetery, I sent the Death Certificates to New York State Department of Health (Corrections), according to the corrections department it can take up to one year for corrections. I know the importance of these documents and told [redacted] and deceased mother [redacted] that I would re-order DC's but, the cemetery would be the same (Springfield) both agreed, both have received their death certificates. . As far as the texts [redacted] was completely out or order calling me a "B", I am a woman and honestly dislike being called such a belittling word. Than to disgust me more she said "eat me" horrifying and yes I responded by telling her that she had a foul body/mouth odor. In response to the Cemetery cancelation that was their decision to close because of the pending snow storm on March [redacted]. Serenity has been in business for three years and has never received a complaint. I am deeply remorseful that [redacted] unsympathetic manner towards [redacted] not being able to attend her son’s funeral lead me to make a decision not to cancel the Limousine; my sincere care for my families lead to this, however, I would do it again and not let a mother not be able to go to funeral or burial of her child. Being the person I am I called [redacted] and apologized, letting her know that I forgave her for upsetting me by calling me a "*". I have since called to see how she was doing and we spoke for lengths of time not bring up the past. Respectfully, [redacted]
