Thanks for your time Ted

He is correct, we were not able to do the job the way we had originally proposed. We did, with some research by our electrician find a way to do the job. Although we did the job in another fashion the size of the job and scope of the job was still significant. We are always willing to negotiate with...

any customer who feels they are not being billed correctly. The email the customer sent me listed labor that he saw our technicians at his house. This is a very common mistake in our industry, but as in every other industry people are paid to do their entire job which would include gathering material, building materials to be ready for the job, reviewing any literature on the job, to be up to date. these are all things that the electrician is paid for and we do calculate into our bids, as every other company does. One reason we give bids is so we don't have to go through the process of breaking down every job and defending each and every individual price. Not only us but any company could not stay in business operating this way. Please ask the customer to offer us a reasonable price and we will adjust the bill. We don't have the time or man power to spend on arguing every small price of each item, which again this happens in our industry because the box stores carry some products used in our industry and some similar to our industry. So if we could get a reasonable offer back, we could all get on with our busy lives.

Thanks for your time      Ted S[redacted]

Hello Ted,
Thank you for your response.
With regard to labor charges; I will agree to the 6 hours you billed for the electrician in your original invoice at your rate of $89/hr. I believe this is in your favor as this includes an hour of time that was spent gathering parts due to an error other than my own. $534.
In my initial complaint I provided a listing of the materials that were used to complete the work that was performed, including miscellaneous shop materials. Please let me know if I omitted anything, but by an inspection of the final product, I believe it is accurate. As indicated by your electrician, the parts used were less than those required in the original bid. The retail cost of the items required (not the wholesale cost you purchase them at) comes to approximately $162. In addition to the retail markup, I added an additional 100% markup in your favor as well, bringing parts (excluding the power cord) to $343.44 including tax. Call it $345.
As for the power cord; the cord you provided is a 30-amp power cord which can be purchased commercially for much less than a 50-amp power cord I had quoted in my original complaint. However, that was my mistake. You indicated that you could build the cord cheaper than one could be purchased. If that will not be honored, I will continue to agree in your favor to the commercial price of a 50-amp cord, including tax, of $795.
No permits were required or procured as included in the original quote.
The installed equipment did not include the manual transfer switch/panel or wiring.
The installed equipment was not turned on and tested as included in the original quote.
Finally, $100 to be given directly to the electrician. I can write the check directly to him or you can pass it on, I will leave that up to you. It was due to his efforts that the job was salvaged, as I would have cancelled the work due to the error in the original quote.
Total $1774.00, call it $1800.00 again, in your favor.
I believe this resolution to be in good faith, transparent, honest and ethical. In addition, I will refrain from posting any negative reviews regarding the experience on the Revdex.com or other sites. This will allow us to, as you put it, get on with our busy lives.
Respectfully,
