Review: I CALLED THIS BUSINESS IN REGARDS TO A BRAND CENTRAL HEAT AND AIR CONDITIONING I HAD INSTALLED IN AUGUST OF 2011/10,000. THE UNIT HAS STOP WORKING IT CAME WITH A 10YR WARRANTY. WHEN I SPOKE WITH [redacted] SHE TOLD THAT MY WARRANTY WAS VOID SHE SAID THAT I HAD NOT HAD THE UNIT SERVICED I EXPLAINED TO HER THAT I WASNT INFORMED THAT I NEEDED TO HAVE THE UNIT SERVICED EVERY SIX MONTHS /WHICH SHE CALLED IT A MEMBERS PACKAGE I TOLD HER THAT I WAS NOT INFORMED ABOUT THAT EITHER. I ALSO EXPLAINED TO HER THAT NO ONE HAS CALLED OR EVEN COMMUNICATED WITH ME IN REGARDS TO GETTING MAINTINANCE FOR MY UNIT AND AFTER PAYING THAT KIND OF MONEY DOES SHE HONESTLY THINK THAT I WOULD OF KNOWINGLY CANCEL OUT A WARRANTY OF THIS MANIGTUDE. I ASK HER FOR A COPY OF THE CONTRACT SHE SAID SHE DIDNT KNOW WHERE IT IS THAT SHE WOULD HAVE TO CALL THE OWNER [redacted] HAVENT HEARD FROM THEM AT ALL.Desired Settlement: TO COME AND FIX MY UNIT. IF THE WARRANTY IS VOID REINSTATE IT ON THE CONDITION THAT I DO THE REGULAR SCHEDULE MAITINANCE THAT THEY ARE SAYING IN THE CONTRACT AND A COPY OF THE CONTRACT.

Response:

As per Ms. [redacted]'s statement that she was not informed on servicing her HVAC equipment that Service Star installed for her: When we complete the installation of the job we mail out a packet that contains the permit and all other forms and documents to obtain a final inspection from the city. Before inspection can be made, all manufacturer specifications have to be on the job site for the inspection. Also, on the back of the contract that Ms. [redacted] signed it states under Terms and Conditions the warranties become void if the equipment is not serviced according to manufacturer specifications. Final inspection was completed on September 12, 2011. When Ms. [redacted] called our office in May 2015 we did mail out a copy of the contract to her as she requested. We also have made arrangements for one of our technicians to go and inspect the unit for her.

Review: I purchased a hvac unit from service star in 2009. I was told the unit had a 5 year guarantee. in 2012 the blower motor on the unit went out. I had them come out and check the unit. they said blower motor was out, but not covered by warranty because I had not had them perform maintenance on it. I cleaned the filter at least once a month. at that time I had them replace the blower motor at a cost of 900 dollars. I also signed up for their club at 11.95 a month which included twice a year maintenance inspections. in august of 2015 the blower motor went out again. I called service star and they sent a tech out. they said the motor warranty had expired after 2 years. he gave me an estimate to replace it at 1875 dollars! I researched the motor online and found several places that sold it for an average of app. 350 dollars. over 1500 dollars labor! when I balked at that the tech asked if I had considered replacing the unit. after I told him to leave I got some estimates from other companies and finally got the motor replaced for 550 dollars. it seems they are grossly overcharging their customers and trying to take advantage of senior citizens too. also, when I checked the unit after the service star tech had left I noticed that he had put the fuses back in upside down so the unit wouldn't run at all! Just an all around bad experience with service star and I don't think they should be allowed to take advantage of people like that.Desired Settlement: I think service star should refund me the 900 dollars they charged me for the blower motor that they wouldn't back on warranty

Review: We paid for a year contract for a service call in the spring and in the fall on our Air Conditioner/heater in February 6, 2015 in the amount of $143.40. We tried calling all the numbers listed to get an appt for a fall service call and all the numbers were no good. I called Comfort Experts another Heater/Air Conditioner company (don't know how I got their number) and they told me that Service Star closed their doors in March 2015 and didn't notify any of their contract customers. As one of several senior citizens that this happened to I feel we should get our money reimbursed.Desired Settlement: Reimbursement of my money in the amount of $143.40

Second time using them now and they were just as open, honest and informative as the last time. I fully expected a much bigger expense, but their technician provided me with the options I had and told me what he'd do if it was his house. And believe it or not, his suggestion wasn't the most expensive one.

Service Star really know their stuff and they know that at the core of a good company is a good product and great service. If you have those things, you've got good word of mouth on your side.

Amazing Service.

Review: Had new A/C equipment installed in July 10,2015. We are having an issues with the evaporation drain. Tried to contact business at all listed phone numbers and at the web site. All means of contact have failed. We have a 5 year warranty on parts and workmanship, but no way to have that contract fulfilled by the company. Since we cannot contact them, we have no way to notify them of the issue.Desired Settlement: Live up to the contract agreement or pay for someone else to provide the needed service at their expense.
