Servpro of Cape May County Reviews (1)

Review: Servpro charged me $6132.55 for a mold remediation. That was supposed to have inclued cleaning the 2 bedrooms and bath that were effected. My friend and I went to view the house the day after they were supposed to have finished. This is my beach house and I couldn't be there while the work was being done. When we walked in there was a strong smell of mold. We looked at the 2 bedrooms and bath and thought they weren't finsihed working since nothing had been cleaned. White dust from cutting the wallboard out of the ceiling was on the floor, furnture, tile, window sills, lamps. blinds, etc. The bathroom toilet had black in it from being winterized and no one was in the house since October 2013. I was charged for cleaning tubs, 2 sinks, and toilet, none of which was touched. I have no idea what they did to the double sinks, but the fake front panels above the doors to the vanity was pushed over to the side looking like a hole in the vanity. I was charged $1,365.56 for hepa vacuming. plus $286.71 for cleaning carpeting-not done. Tthey were charging me to vacuum 4016 square feet of carpeting for a house that is only 2,200 sq ft. That 2,200 sq ft includes a wood floor halls, kitchen, laundry room and 4 tile baths. I own a hepa vacuum and it only cost me $200. How can vacuuming be $1365.56? I took pictures the day I was there and spoke with 3 or 4 people from Servpro. Their remark was "we're not Merri Maids."' They also charged $86 to "clean" a $20 flower arrangement and another $86 to clean a $10 wooden fish! They didn't clean, yet charged. This may be consumer fraud.

They also charged the $3036.35 balance to my credit card the day before talking to me. I faxed, telephoned, and emailed them about my concerns to no avail. There is a list of outrageous charges I would like to send you the itemized list and my responses both before and after the work was supposedly done. I asked [redacted] to come

see the house before I cleaned he agreed never came out, nor did he callDesired Settlement: $2093.72 was not done, yet charged. I went through the list of what they were supposed to have done and what was actually done. Outrageous amounts charged for everything. I was told they would work with me on the price. Then I was told this is insurance standard prices. I'm not an insurance company. This amount should be credited back to my credit card company. I would like the opportunity to send you my proof.

My home address is [redacted]. There is no mailbox at my beach house in Sea Isle City.

Thank you.

Response:

Regarding the complaint from Ms. [redacted], we received a protocol from [redacted] Environmental Compliance LLC, a third party environmental testing company for mold remediation. Servpro prepared a mold remediation estimate based off the protocol received from the environmentalist and submitted to customer, the customer then submitted to her insurance company who denied coverage. Servpro utilizes a estimating software called Xactimate, prices are set by the commissioner of insurance and are geographically set. Servpro has no input with respect to the pricing. Servpro started mold remediation on May 5th, 2014 which included removal of drywall, HEPA vacuuming, wet washing, and HEPA vacuuming again in two bedrooms, a bathroom, carpet cleaning, and HVAC cleaning per Coastal's protocol. HEPA vacuuming is charged twice which reflects in the protocol and estimate. Again prices are not made up by Servpro, these prices are sent to us on a monthly basis. Knick Knack items are billed in our estimating software as Bric a Brac items per box. Our estimating software does not price per the cost of the actual item. Ms. [redacted] did not arrive onsite until several days after mold remediation was completed and post clearance testing was conducted by Coastal. Therefore the dust that she is referring to could have been from the contractor that was in and out of the home.

Ms. [redacted] sent an email on June 10th (one month after remediation) which [redacted] responded to stating that he would meet her on Monday, June 16th to discuss any issues and ask for Ms. [redacted] to let us know prior to Monday what time would be good as Mr. [redacted] had appointments scheduled. Ms. [redacted] never replied to this email nor did she call into our office to give a time to meet with Mr. [redacted] to discuss any issues. Ms. [redacted] sent an email Monday, June 16 at 12:30 PM stating "she assumed we were not coming".

In regards to a discount, our equipment was onsite starting March 5th until March 15th which is ten days. Servpro only charged the equipment for 6 days. Servpro had 2 Negative Air Scrubbers at $72.56 per piece of equipment per day, this is a savings of $ 621.11 which is a little over 10% of the estimate.

After the mold remediation was completed by Servpro, [redacted] Environmental was called back in to complete a clearance test. If Servpro did not complete mold remediation as per Coastal's protocol we would have failed the post testing and a clearance certificate would not have been issued.
