Our home experienced water damage during a heavy rain event. Servpro came out and installed equipment at 7:00pm on a Wednesday. At my request, the equipment was removed at 10:00am on Friday.
Several weeks later, I received a non-itemized invoice. I called and requested an itemized invoice. I was provided an unsigned copy of the estimate of work.
The estimate noted that I was charged for 48 hours of the equipment being used in my home. I requested that the invoice be revised because the equipment was only placed in my home for 39 hours (or 81.25% of the time for which I was charged).
I exchanged several phone calls with the office during which it was explained to me that this is simply how people are billed. I noted that I could not be charged for time that was not actually incurred. Yet, they refused to reduce the invoice. When the technicians arrived at my home to remove the equipment, I was not informed that I would be charged for an additional 8 hours even after it was removed.
After a series of phone calls during which I repeatedly iterated my belief that it was unfair to bill me for time not incurred, I finally asked to speak with the owner.
He called me. I asked him about the charge. He admitted that insurance companies are billed differently, but individuals are only charged for 24 hour increments, regardless of the time actually incurred. I asked if the equipment removed from my house was placed in storage and not on another job during the final 8 hours I was being charged for (i.e. attempting to confirm that they were not billing two people at the same time for the same equipment). He indicated that he would have to research it. I asked him to do so, and he replied that he would not waste his time. Rather, he would place a lien on my home and take me to court. I asked to speak with his attorney because he threatened me with legal action. He refused to allow that contact unless I agreed to pay for his attorney time.

Other (requires explanation) I would like it clarified that the business cannot charge for time not incurred in the use of their equipment. Further, I would like a portion of my payment equal to the time the equipment was not in my home refunded. I paid the invoice in full after the threatened legal action by the owner.

Dispute is not with this SERVPRO office. Issue is with the SERVPRO of Duncanville/DESOTO office. Please reach out to the complainant and have him withdraw and redirect. We have already spoken to both parties and they are aware and acknowledge they are the interested parties.

Yes, my complaint is with the Desoto office. I selected the address shown on the invoice I received because the Desoto office was not an option on the menu of locations on the Revdex.com website. Please direct this complaint to that office.
