Seton Family of Hospitals Reviews (65)

Dear Ms***,I regret that my response did not meet you satisfaction. However, as I am sure you are aware emergency room care is extremely expensive to provide. Emergency Room care is meant to be used for life threatening or medical care for serious medical conditions. Less costly urgent care centers or independent physician’s office visits are more economic alternatives for conditions that do not need immediate attention. Hospital cost structures include overhead for 24/7-days per year medical care and staffing. Our cost structures are formulated and set so that we are able to continue to provide the availability of emergency care in the communities we serve. Reimbursement at Medicare rates alone is not sustainable for any medical operation. Care providers who accept and provide care to Medicare patients are obligated to do so at the Medicare reimbursement rate, which as you know is a fraction of the actual cost of the care

Revdex.com:
I have reviewed the response and apparently Emergency Medical Group is a separate entity than Seton/Dell This should probably be changed because when you search for Emergency Medical Group it comes up a.k.a and lists seven different hospitals that are associated with this company but that is misleading I am closing this case and have re-opened a new case with Emergency Physicians Billing Group - Case #*** in hopes to get this issue resolved

I am rejecting this response because:Thank you for your replyAt this point, I am not informed enough to discuss what percentage of the hospital's costs Medicare offsetsSo, I will not argue with you about how much you charge for the levels and drop objection However, you still did not answer my objections 1-ACEP website clearly states that services have to be "medically necessary" and require EXTRA "institutional resources" to qualify for a higher coding levelNone of these criteria were met in our case.I know ER is expensive, and we were prepared to pay some(And, by the way, it was someone from the doctors' office that sent us, we went because we trusted them, not because we were irresponsible.) Just because ER is expensive to maintain, however, does not mean that you can invent a bogus service (which "recommendation to take ibuprofen" really is, it has no value to the patient whatsoever, as everyone is perfectly able to provide that "service" for themselves) just to drive up the revenues

After reviewing your Seton bill for it appears your insurance left that for the deductibleAll patient out of pocket costs are determined by a patients insuranceRegarding the outpatient charge, we can either code a claim as in-patient, emergency, or out-patient, all codes and charges are
correct on this insurance claimI cannot speak on behalf of the physicians bill as they are contracted outside of Seton's facility billing servicesYou are always invited to call the number on the statement to gather more information on the account, the number to Seton's Customer Service is ***When you contact them you can ask for the phone number for the physicians bill to gather more informationFor a reduction in the patient out of pocket costs you are encouraged to contact your insurance provider and ask for an audit to be done as again stated a patients portion that they are held liable for is determined by their insurance carrier and their specific insurance plan
