S.H. Haughton Trucking Moving Company

Review: S H Haughton moved me on 4/29/14. The owner was aware that most of the furniture was antique. He said he shrink wrapped it, blanketed it and secured it. I doubt that now. During the move while 4 of them trying to get the antique china closet in, I saw one of the ball feet in the owner's hand. Never saw anything like that in the last 3 moves. Well to start off with, were the most evident, damage to the top of the antique china closet -- which ower came and glued and taped, but only to the one side; the other is still lose. There is a chunk of wood missing from the bottom that was there before. Just noticed it on May 13. Then comes the issue with the antique barrister bookcase. The movers had it in 3 pieces. I have had 3 previous moves and NOT ONE OF THOSE MOVERS CAUSED PHYSICAL DAMAGE TO THE FURNITURE. The owner came again and glued, taped the three pieces. My neighbor I went to put it back together (it comes in 3 parts), but were unable due to damage to the top of the first piece. THERE IS THE MAJOR ISSUE WITH AN ANTIQUE DOOR MISSING TO THE DESK. IT WAS LYING AGAINST THE DESK SO ANYONE WOULD KNOW IT WENT WITH IT. After the move I couldn't find it, I called the owner and he said I THREW IT OUT. NOW, WHY WOULD I THROW AWAY A DOOR TO A DESK THAT MEANS THE WORLD TO ME. Well. I'll go on to the next problem -- the antique sideboard. On Mother's Day, I went to polish the bottom shelves only to find that both sides were not flat but on a slant and the foundation is not aligned correctly and may not be safe. I called the owner right away and all he said was he was taking his wife to a movie. I have not heard back from him yet. I need to add that the day he was here gluing something, he made the comment, "that's why we don't like moving antiques." Well, had he been honest and not greedy to begin with, there would be no issue. THE ANTIQUE DESK WITH MISSING LID AND ANTIQUE SIDEBOARD WERE GIFTS TO ME FROM MY LATE NANNY AND POP POP AND HAVE A LOT OF SENTIMENTAL MEANING TO ME. As for resolution of the desk, I'd have to have a new one or a very talented furniture maker make me a reproduction. I'M SORRY I EVER USED THIS COMPANYDesired Settlement: I hope this resolves the issue. If not, there are other venues I will explore. But I will not let S H Haughton Moving Company get away with what they did to my antique furmiture.

This is to advised you that we at S H Haughton did not damage Ms. [redacted] furniture on 4/29/14.

After she called me on mother's day about 9 :00 pm and I told her that I was out with my wife, she

became upset and said she is going to bring down my company in what ever way she can. This was 12 days after the move. She will say bad things about

my company on face book ,she would write letter to Revdex.com and USDOT. On that day when we finished Ms. [redacted] ,she praised our professional

service. She gave my three helpers $50.00 each and gave me $100.00 for tip.

She told us that this was her 5th move and it was the best and the cheapest. Two days after the move, Ms. [redacted] hired to pick some new furniture at a store

and took her old ones to her sister's house. I charge a fee of $200.00 but she gave me $400. and said "you guys are so professional and nice. I will recommend you to anyone"

EVERYTHING WAS GOOD FROM MARCH 19,2014, WHEN I WENT TO HER HOUSE FOR ESTIMATE UNTIL MAY 11,2014 AT 9:00 PM (MOTHER S DAY)

I went with this company because they were licensed and bonded, were members of the Revdex.com and had the best quote. $720, $30 in tips and a full lunch meal from Pizza Hut these 3 men moved my TWO bedroom apartment in 6 hours. I could've moved across state lines for that kind of money. One mover was on his earbuds talking on the phone most of the time and they sure took their sweet time moving us. In the last hour I had to Include the family to help grab boxes from them to facilitate the process. I would NOT use this company for any future moves and would then certainly not refer them.

Put it this way... I liked the guys so much that I paid $50 extra and bought them Chinese after the move was completed!!

I have hired them 3 years ago on the flat rate basis. I told the manager/owner of the company ([redacted]) that no hidden fee like gas, truck, toll, extra hours. He gave me a very acceptable rate and that's it! Absolutely no worries afterwards.

They were very pleasant, nice, careful and hard working people whom I called in my next move 3 years later and planning to call again in my next move.

I did a lot of research on movers and they sure were the BEST. This is where my search stopped.
