House broken into for the second time in 2 weeks and manager had maintenance partially board up broken door. Home is open to be walked into. The apartment I rent has been broken into for the second time in 2 weeks. We requested to have the door boarded up to avoid another break in but the property manager refused that request, stating it would be "an eye sore". Now that the apartment has been broken into for the second time and this time the glass being completely shattered, she granted the request for the house to be boarded. The boarding job done by the maintenance crew was shotty, to the point where the glass is still exposed, the board that was put up was not fully secured and can be completely snatched off with minimal effort. I contacted an after hours maintenance line and was told that they could not come back and fully secure the door so my family could at least be safe and secured through the night.Desired SettlementI want to be let out of my lease as soon as possible. The manager has stated she will only let us out of our lease once we have found another place and also the manager outright refused to give us the name of the property owner for us to contact them.Business Response Consumer Response (The consumer indicated he/she DID NOT accept the response from the business.)First they are letting us out of the lease due to a roach situation where roaches were in the refrigerator and carpet possibly due to neighbors. Secondly, the second break in, the glass was in the house primarily which indicates the force was from the outside to make the glass fall inside. Thirdly, we have police reports that reflect where the force came in.Final Business Response First we have pest control that comes out to spray every Wednesday at residents request. On top of that to insure that every one is sprayed, we spray a building every week. We went over to see if they had roaches, and we saw no signs of roaches. Second they asked if they could be let out of there lease due to the break-ins and roach issue.I agreed to let them out and stated to them that they seemed very unhappy here and I appoligized.

Nov.22nd,2014 my patio door was broken due to a burglary. Multiple items were taken, but I also have appliances in need of repair. In the year and a half I've been a resident at Shadowbrook, I've come across many issues. My home has been broken into 3 times. The maintenance service takes at least a week before you get any response, to whether what time or day they will assist you. When you speak to the Manager and their assistant in the office, they are very rude and unprofessional. Needless to say they're careless and have no sense of urgency about your safety and/or apartment needs met.On Nov.22nd my patio door was broken due to yet another burglary. It took them till Wed Nov.26th to have it fixed. My town home was extremely cold and yet unsafe. Every time I would contact the office or physically go to the office to see what day this issue would be resolved their response was "tomorrow". My refrigerator is going out and I have a clogged sink and a broken garbage disposal that has yet to be repaired. It seems as though my repairs are not of an necessity and are completely nonessential. Desired SettlementMy garbage disposal needs fixing. My sink unclogged and also my fridge is not working properly.Business Response Let me start by saying we do not schedule maintenance. Residents change there locks and do not give us access to the unit. And at that point that delays the service that they need. So at that point we send maintenance when available. When a resident notifies us of a break in,we take it very serious.First step is to secure the unit, second we call in to have the glass replaced. We use a outside vendor which usually come out the very next day. But if they can not they will notify us of the day they will come.I offered to move Ms. [redacted] to another location on the property but I can not assure her they she will not be broke into. She refused.I was also concerned that this was not personal because she had been targeted 3 times.

hi my name is [redacted] I rent an apartment from shawdowbrook townhomes. on Monday 21st 2015 my apartment was broken into through my patio door, I called the police and made a police report and when the office opened I went to tell them what had happened to my apartment and they made a copy of my police report and told me someone was going to be out to fix my patio door. I went back around there at 4pm because no one had came out to fix it and I was told again someone was going to get out there which no one came. I been having to find somewhere for my brother and I to live because my patio still isnt fixed and I dont feel safe being there. on Tuesday I get off work n my patio door still not fix, so I go back around there n ask whats going on because my patio door still wasnt fixed. they give me the same answer everytime oh someone will be out to fix it. here it is wednesday 23th and still no one has been out to fix it. I just dont understand why havent nothing been done. I pay my rent on time every month and I shouldn't have to go to someone else house to sleep. they all act as if they dont care about my situation. I haven't lived there a year and its already a problem with getting things fixed. I'm very upset about this situation and unsatisfied with how they handle things.Desired Settlementall I want is for my patio to be fixed. at this point im really seeking to move. I dont feel safe and they act as if my problem doesn't matter. since my lease.isnt up I feel as if I should be able to break my lease and receive my deposit back.Business Response Mrs.[redacted] came in the office and stated that her unit was broken into. At that point, we handled the situation as we do. The maintenance men went over to secure her door.As we stated to Mrs. [redacted], we have to order patio from a outside vendor, which sometimes they will come the same day, depending on there work load, if not its almost all times they will be here the next morning. We have 366 units here, and we try to accomodate everyones situation in a timely manner.Consumer Response (The consumer indicated he/she DID NOT accept the response from the business.)i feel as if this situation could have been handle a little better that it was. it took three days for someone to finally come and get my patio door fixed. like I stated before the manager had no clue about my unit being broken into until the finally day I went in. no one told me about ordering a door from an outside vendor. I never received a new door just a different latch and handle. I understand its other people that they have to accomodate but this situation was just out of hand.
