Complaint$29.95 was deducted from my bank account. They will not refund the money.$29.95 was deducted from my bank account. They say I upgrated but I did not. They will not refund my money.Desired SettlementI have askef the company for a refund and was denied.Final Consumer Response The company refunded me the money.

This website claims to post job listings that are available for application for mystery shopper jobs within your local once you have paid to sign up for membership. It also claims that you can apply without paying, which is false as I tried this. Then it stats you have to pay EXTRA for priority listing. I did both, unfortunately to only find out later that the jobs posted require membership to ANOTHER website which costs more money in promise of a job. I contacted them about a refund and they said there are no refunds even though they have incorrect advertising and policies. I earnestly tried for two days to find a single job to apply for and found myself going around in circles even though I received two certifications with a score of 97% on both.Product_Or_Service: Membership/ Premium listingDesired SettlementFull amount is 4.95 for membership (which jumps to 29.95 in Feb, thank God I cancelled it) and 19.95 for premium listing. It seems totally unethical to promise the ability to apply for a job once purchasing one's service and instead send them into loops of more websites promising the same thing without any delivery of said promises.Business Response [redacted] is receiving exactly what she paid for, which is a membership in a service that provides opportunities to get paid to eat and shop. None of the mystery shopping companies that provide the work require payment. She has used our services, and even chose to purchase the OPTIONAL priority listing service which places her first among reviewed shoppers to be chosen for jobs. She is not due a refund per the terms she agreed to.Consumer Response (The consumer indicated he/she DID NOT accept the response from the business.)The service that was assured to me could not be provided when the entire process to obtain any opportunities off of their list, one must go to a completely separate company's website and then purchase a subsequent subscription that then requires you to buy other products to in order to obtain certain degrees of membership which then will allow a person to gain access to these supposed "opportunities." The only opportunity I have been led to via this service was a dead end, in which the only option was to purchase more "promises" of these opportunities. There was no apparent way to satisfy the requirements to apply to ANY opportunity without going through the procedure described above of setting up multiple accounts all of which cost more capital.

I signed up for Shadow shopper, to try and make some quick extra cash. I was told there was no charge for this membership, that my card just needed to be on file. Well with the holidays going on I got extremely busy and never had the chance to actually try out a job. I checked my account and apparently they renewed my membership after three months and charged me 29.95. I did call just thinking there had been some misunderstanding, but no there was not. They informed me no refunds will be given and it's a strict policy. On top of it the phone number listed is simply to leave your email, there are no actually representatives to speak with. I went to the website and tried to cancel my account and it looks like it only allows me to place it on non renewal. I am now having to call me bank and let them know I did not authorize this charge. All in all I can say I do not plan on signing up for any other companies like this.Desired SettlementI simply want a refund of the membership fee and my account to be discarded. I don not want anything else to do with this company or any similar companies. Business Response [redacted] admits she did not pay attention to her account which very clearly states the nature of our payment structure, and that renewal occurred whether she wanted it or not, do to her distraction not due to any unauthorized action on our part. A refund is not possible because she has submitted a claim with her bank.

I have unsubscribed from this company multiple times now and have been getting more and more emails to my inbox after clicking the unsubscribe button last week on their web page. I set up a profile before realizing that this site will only link you to jobs if you "upgrade" to their paid "gold" membership? I want to delete(remove) my free profile from their site but cannot navigate and figure out the process? Thank you for addressing my concerns regarding this business.Desired SettlementI do not wish to receive ANY future emails from Shadowshopper & would like my free profile removed permanently. Business Response Thank you Ms [redacted] for notifying us of your status; we have removed you from all active status and the emails should begin to slow down and come to a complete stop within a few days. If you've subscribed to any of the site partners accessible through us, you may need to cancel with their sites directly. Clicking the unsubscribe link in the remaining emails will help as well. We wish you well in your future endeavors.Consumer Response (The consumer indicated he/she ACCEPTED the response from the business.)

account was upgraded without my approvalon 11/14/14 I bought a trial month of job services for $4.95 from shadowshopper.com. that's all I signed up for and then the service would be over. today 12/14/14, my [redacted] account shows a debit from shadowshopper llc for an upgrade to my account for $29.95. plus I get tons of emails from them, but they forgot I guess to inform me of this "upgrade".Desired Settlementa refund of December's payment. Business Response [redacted]'s account renewed according to the terms to which she agreed; a trial membership arrangement common to many online vendors in addition to us, including [redacted], [redacted], and many, many others. Even so, because [redacted] contacted us immediately, we will refund her renewal payment.

I signed up for a $5 1 month trial in December 2014 with this company and discovered I was not able to access the job board because I had not selected the "Gold Level" membership. I set my account to not renew because I did not want to pay for the gold level membership after the 1 month trial was over. On April 9th, I went over my credit card bill and discovered that my account had been signed up for automatic renewal and was being charged for their "Gold Level" membership since January 2015. I called customer service and received and email response saying I could not be refunded and [redacted] (the customer service agent I emailed) had "...now set your account to not renew automatically for you." Today, I opened my credit card bill and again had a charge for their gold level membership. I have contacted them about this additional charge and I'm waiting for a response.Product_Or_Service: AccountDesired SettlementAt the least, I would like to be refunded the $29.95 that I was assured I would not be charged again. I am hoping for the entire $119.80 that I have been charged since January being that I set my account to not automatically renew in the first place and it was changed without my permission.Business Response Ms [redacted] has been refunded the $29.95 to her credit card, per her request.Consumer Response (The consumer indicated he/she ACCEPTED the response from the business.)I was prepared to forego the other 3 months of payments after speaking with the customer Rep last month, so the 1 month reimbursement for the charges for last month are fine.

Withdrew payment from the card I receive my social security benefits on. I want a refund ASAP! Thank YOU! Sincerely, [redacted] Charged my credit card without my permission to be a member of shadow shoppers. Desired SettlementA FULL refund of ALL money's taken off of my [redacted] immediately. Thank you.Business Response Per her request, we refunded the charge to her credit card on August 7, 2016 and disabled her account

This company advertised as being a mystery shopper company as if a consumer would be directly working with them. After doing some research, it turns out that they are the middleman to other secret shopper companies. I requested a refund but got denied by them.Product_Or_Service: membership Desired SettlementI want a refund of $4.95 for the Gold membership after finding out that your company falsely advertises their business. I thought that I would be working directly for them but instead they're the middleman for other mystery shopper companies. I have since cancelled my membership because I am dissatisfied with this situation. Business Response Services are clearly declared in our website where she signed up. Indeed, the fact that we are NOT an employer is our key benefit, as we provide shoppers with access to ALL available shops - usually hundreds in any given area - not just the shops of one company. No refunds are provided for the initial trial fee.Consumer Response (The consumer indicated he/she DID NOT accept the response from the business.)No I do not accept the business' reaponse. I would not have signed up for this if I had known I would not be directly working with Shadowshopper.com. I believe that they should grant my refund. Their site should clearly state that they are not an employer but only a bridge between themselves and other shops. That would have been better understood by me. I still want my refund and I do not think that it will hurt the company to do so.

I was charged for auto-renewal when I did not request auto-renewal. I was denied a refund.I received an email offering a two-week free trial and I accepted it. I was required to give my credit card information in case I wanted to continue service for a fee. A few days later, I noticed a $31.93 charge on my credit card. I went to their website, cancelled my account and sent an email telling them I did not approve the charges and requested a refund. They immediately wrote back and said that I had set my account to auto-renew, which I did not. They offered to give me a year's access to the website because they do not give refunds. I told them that I did not receive anything from their service for 2 weeks and wanted a full refund. I told them that I was going to dispute the credit card charge and report them to the Revdex.com. I received another email saying that their hands were tied, and that they do not give refunds no matter the circumstances. Apparently, I should have checked the Revdex.com before I accepted the "free" trial.Desired SettlementI wish for the $31.93 charge to be credited back to my credit card.Business Response [redacted] has been refunded in full. While the terms of her membership agreement do not require a refund and do include an auto renewal, as is common across online services businesses, we are extending her a refund as a courtesy and due to the low volume of job opportunities in her area.

In Shadowshopper's system I purposely set my account to not auto renew because I did not want to pay for Shadowshopper's Gold level membership after tIn Shadowshopper's system I purposely set my account to not auto renew because I did not want to pay for Shadowshopper's Gold level membership after the 1 month trial was over. On October 6, 2015, I went over my credit card bill and discovered that my account showed a $29.95 charge from Shadowshopper. I immediately(same day)contacted Jonathan at Shadowshopper asking for a refund of the charge and he said I had selected the auto-renew option and that and that I could not be refunded; also he said and that I was calling after the auto renew date which happened to also be on October 6th. I told him that I definitely had not selected that option in their system but he said I must have. I immediately asked him to cancel my membership which he did on that same day but I was never issued a refund. I found that others had also been victims of being automatically renewed and billed when they had not selected that option.Desired SettlementI would like Shadowshopper to refund me the $29.95 that they charged my credit card because I did not select their Gold Plan membership to be auto renewed and billed each month.Business Response [redacted] has initiated a chargeback complaint with her credit card, so no refund can be issued. She has placed the decision in the hands of her credit card company.Consumer Response (The consumer indicated he/she DID NOT accept the response from the business.)If Shadowshopper will honor my request for a refund,I will contact my credit card company to cancel the complaint.

Cancelled by e-mail at least 1 month agobut, charged anyway.Signed up with shadow shopper to be a secret shopper on the free list and was later charged $4.95. E-mailed shadow shopper to cancel my membership but have now been charged an annual amt. of $29.95. With further correspondent I can get no where.Desired SettlementI would like my $29.95 back.Business Response Per her email direction 01/11/2016 06:48:10 PM, [redacted] has chosen a one year subscription for the $29.95. Her account has been set to NOT renew and her credit card number removed from our renewal system.Consumer Response (The consumer indicated he/she DID NOT accept the response from the business.)There were no other choices given to accept or offers other than to accept what they want. I can not accept there decision as I was not available. I only accepted the free account, then tricked out of $4.95, then tricked out of $29.95.

No where does it say in this that they will charge you 29.99 per month for this. This is my credit card ([redacted]) and my daughter thought it would be for $4.95 for 30 days. They have fraudulently charged my credit card and I want my money back. This company is a rip off and this is my credit card they keep charging. I want a refund of all my money except the $4.95 that was agreed to. My daughter's name is [redacted] dobDesired SettlementI want my money back. This company is a scam. My daughter is young and did not know better. However, this is my credit card and I want my money back. They fradulently advertised on their website that is was $4.95 for 30 days and no where did it say 29.99 every month thereafter. Business Response Interestingly, [redacted] has a second account under her own name and her own credit card, which is current and not under dispute. The only issue appears to be using Mom's card, not that our service is bad in any way. To the contrary, it seems the opposite. [redacted] has a payment issue with her daughter, not with us.Consumer Response (The consumer indicated he/she DID NOT accept the response from the business.)THey have illegally charged my credit card. This issue is with them as they went in and took money from my account that they had no right to do. My daughter is disabled and did not understand any of this. I want my money returned. This company is a scam. You pay for absolutely nothing and their service is a rip off. You have several complaints about this company for this very reason. Their advertising is deceitful as are their practices. I do not appreciate the condescending attitude with themeither.Final Consumer Response (The consumer indicated he/she DID NOT accept the response from the business.)Personal attacks are useless to me. Explain why you have 2 accounts for.Sarah Myatt thus charging.$60 a month. That is stealing and you are.no gold standard. You have complaints of stealing money and rudeness all over the internet. I will not allow you to take advantage of my disabled daughter. I will go to the Attorney.General if I need to.Final Business Response It is not our responsibility to control the activity of families. Hundreds of thousands of happy customers would disagree with this member - we are the gold standard for mystery shopping job boards. And, she seems to know an awful lot about us, as well. Just not as happy with paying what she owes.

I was never paid for doing a secret shopper jobDesired Settlement$100.00Business Response [redacted] is confused as to our role and service provision. We have never paid shoppers to do mystery jobs. Our membership provides the opportunities to apply quickly and easily for the jobs with the actual companies who are responsible for awarding the jobs and paying for performance. We would encourage [redacted] to be in direct contact with the company that hired her. Our customer service reps will help her if she has an ongoing dispute by contacting [redacted]Consumer Response (The consumer indicated he/she DID NOT accept the response from the business.)this is a copy of what was sent to me...SECRET SHOPPING PAYMENT DETAILS AND INSTRUCTIONInboxx Shadow Shopper Feb 24to me -- Hi,CLICK THE LINK BELOW TO SEE THE DETAILS OF YOUR ASSIGNMENT. THANK YOU![redacted]Assignment Coordinator

I signed up for the three months but after about 7-10 days I went back on the site and I changed it to where it would not automatically renew cause I didn't like it. I only went and filled out one online application and that was within the first week. This was not what I expected so that'swhy I went and changed the ssettings back in January and all there emails have been going to Spam since then. Then all I get my credit card statement on May 27,2015 I called the ShadowShopper immediately they had no one to talk to but a voicemail they said to send a email to them I stated that I was contacting [redacted] that I was disputing the charge . The Bank stated I would not be charged Melissa M","neg-1

I signed up for a free membership in ShadowShopper to see what it was all about. After reading a couple of emails I went online to their site to unsubscribe and followed the instructions. My wife and I have been ill of late and have just returned home. When going thrum our bank statements we found two charges from these people. One for $4.95 and one for $29.95. I did not authorize these charges! When I contacted the company, I was informed that I couldn't get a refund but they told they would be happy to extend my membership for a year at no charge. I told them no and I wanted my account to be reimbursed for the charges I did not authorize. The lady told me to send an email to Johnathon@ ShadowShopper.com. I did and there has been no response. At no time did I authorize charges to my account and now I'm having a difficult time getting my money back.Product_Or_Service: NoneDesired SettlementRemove me from their mailing list and refund what they took from my account. This is just wrong!Business Response [redacted] initiated and paid for a $4.95 trial, that renewed to the full membership per our agreement. We have refunded his $29.95 renewal fee.Consumer Response Just received an email stating that a refund has been issued. When the refund is received I will notify. Final Business Response Refunds should show up within 1-3 business days

The Shadow Shopper site has withdrawn $40.80 from my bank account for a "gold Membership Upgrade" without my knowledge or permission. The first time they attempted to collect this money the payment was titled "[redacted] Payment", not being aware of this amount coming out of my account, I did not have the funds there and therefore it was returned - which subsequently cost me another $48.00 in NSF charges. The second attempt to charge me, the payment was titled "Miscellaneous Payment [redacted] (last name)", this time the charge was successful; however, it caused my rent cheque to bounce, putting me in a position where I could lose my home AND costing me ANOTHER $48.00 in NSF charges. Due to the fact that they code their withdrawal payment names, they make it impossible to apply a "stop payment" action on these unauthorized charges. The mere fact that they do this is a clear indication that what they are doing is both misleading and unethical.Product_Or_Service: Membership Upgrade (Unauthorized)Desired SettlementI would like the company to return the money they have charged me and reimburse me for the NSF charges they have caused me in the process. I would also like to see that they do not code their payment names and be made to change their policies in order to be more transparent and ethical.Business Response Your account was renewed as scheduled according to your billing preferences. I have refunded the renewal fee in full and your account has been cancelled. Please complete the Revdex.com process and let me know if there is anything else I can do to help.
