I have provided the proof of events and the dates to which I feel proves that we have met our requirements to try to make this client happy His original leak was with his stink pipe which sums up to be fixed Notice that he never mentions that Now he is saying that his exhaust fan is leaking which was not the original problem Again we fixed the original problem for the original quote of $ We in turn had invested our own money to tear off a small section of the roof to determine the actual cause of the leak at no additional cost to the client We will not be refunding him his money for which the original leak was repaired I would also like to say that we are not a"money grabbing company" as he has stated or we could have billed him for the additional cost of $ Regards Shafer Roofing

As to the complaint made by consumer to Shafer Roofing, the customer reached out to us for an estimate to replace his roof He was hoping for an insurance claim for wind or hail damage We then met with him and suggested he replace the roof because it was beyond repair and we did not see any wind or hail damage He then mentioned he could not afford a new roof at this time I have sent you a copy of his estimate to replace the roof dated September 5, In October the consumer called us about a leak in his bathroom Out estimator met with him and determined that his stink pipe was leaking An estimate of $was agreed on to repair the leak I have included a copy of the work order dated October 8, for the work to be done for the consumer The date completed shows the leak was repaired on October 11, The invoice was then generated on October 15, and his check was dated on October 13, Not sure why the consumer would say ti took weeks to come out to resolve this issue We sent an estimator out to meet with him at his convenience, repaired the problem and billed him all by the 15th of the month Also why he would say he payed us in advance as you can see with the dates This all seems pretty reasonable to me The original problem occurred the beginning of October and we did not hear from him until November 26, This note was mentioned on the work order He at that time mentioned the leak was better but still there with the time of year and the hard winter we had we were able to get out there January 15, We then , at our own cost and no additional cost to him went out and tore off a ft x ft section of his roof around the area and replaced the rotten plywood and existing shingles The rotten plywood was proof the roof was beyond repair and needed to be replaced This was a $expense to our company to try to help the consumer We had a very difficult winter which keeps us from getting on roofs When he called in March to let us know he had a leak inches from the other one we informed him this was a new problem and he needed to replace the roof The leak we had fixed in January hadn't leaked at all in those months His roof would continue to give him problems and he did not want to hear this I'm not sure what he means when he said he offered to split the cost of what? We have many calls that come in each day Our receptionist wouldn't know his phone number to not answer his calls It would go to voice mail and he could leave a message but has not done so We have gone over and beyond to try to solve this problem His roof is a danger to our employees with the rotten plywood underneath If he feels we are unprofessional and we don't finish our work, why would he want us to come back I feel he would never be satisfied Constantly complaining about our work When it comes down to the fact that he can't afford a new roof and he wants everything for nothing The original leak was rised at our expense Sometimes there are those people that just aren't happy no matter what you do or say what a sad world we live in when you try to help people who are so ungrateful Then they try to hurt our business by saying things that just aren't true

I have reviewed the response made by the business in reference to complaint ID ***, and have determined that this proposed action would not resolve my complaint. For your reference, details of the offer I reviewed appear below

I'm very disappointed that this company is still trying to justify why they failed to fix the leak At this point, I just want a refund If I don't receive a refund in the next weeks, I will be forced to seek the counsel of an attorneyFor what it's worth, I had a reputable roofer come out to examine my roof and the contractor said immediately that the work Schafer Roofing had done was shoddy, citing that the roofing shingles were not properly sealed and nailed in placeThe first thing he said is why doesn't the company come back out and fix this? He went on to say that it's a problem that could have been easily fixed!
Finally, it's for this reason that I'm requesting that my complaint be maintained in the Revdex.com's database I want others to know how unprofessional and petty Schafer Roofing really isI'm sure there are laws against company's preying on homeowners in the way that this company attempted to prey on me

I have provided the proof of events and the dates to which I feel proves that we have met our requirements to try to make this client happy.  His original leak was with his stink pipe which sums up to be fixed.  Notice that he never mentions that.  Now he is saying that his exhaust fan is leaking which was not the original problem.  Again we fixed the original problem for the original quote of $125.00  We in turn had invested our own money to tear off a small section of the roof to determine the actual cause of the leak at no additional cost to the client.  We will not be refunding him his money for which the original leak was repaired.  I would also like to say that we are not a"money grabbing company" as he has stated or we could have billed him for the additional cost of $450.00.  Regards Shafer Roofing

As to the complaint made by consumer to Shafer Roofing, the customer reached out to us for an estimate to replace his roof.  He was hoping for an insurance claim for wind or hail damage.  We then met with him and suggested he replace the roof because it was beyond repair and we did not see...

any wind or hail damage.  He then mentioned he could not afford a new roof at this time.  I have sent you a copy of his estimate to replace the roof dated September 5, 2013.  In October the consumer called us about a leak in his bathroom.  Out estimator met with him and determined that his stink pipe was leaking.  An estimate of $125.00 was agreed on to repair the leak.  I have included a copy of the work order dated October 8, 2013 for the work to be done for the consumer.  The date completed shows the leak was repaired on October 11, 2013.  The invoice was then generated on October 15, 2013 and his check was dated on October 13, 2013.  Not sure why the consumer would say ti took weeks to come out to resolve this issue.  We sent an estimator out to meet with him at his convenience, repaired the problem and billed him all by the 15th of the month.  Also why he would say he payed us in advance as you can see with the dates.  This all seems pretty reasonable to me.  The original problem occurred the beginning of October and we did not hear from him until November 26, 2013.  This note was mentioned on the work order.  He at that time mentioned the leak was better but still there with the time of year and the hard winter we had we were able to get out there January 15, 2014.  We then , at our own cost and no additional cost to him went out and tore off a 2 ft x 4 ft section of his roof around the area and replaced the rotten plywood and existing shingles.  The rotten plywood was proof the roof was beyond repair and needed to be replaced.  This was a $400.00 expense to our company to try to help the consumer .  We had a very difficult winter which keeps us from getting on roofs.  When he called in March to let us know he had a leak 8 inches from the other one we informed him this was a new problem and he needed to replace the roof.  The leak we had fixed in January hadn't leaked at all in those 2 months.  His roof would continue to give him problems and he did not want to hear this.  I'm not sure what he means when he said he offered to split the cost of what?  We have many calls that come in each day.  Our receptionist wouldn't know his phone number to not answer his calls.  It would go to voice mail and he could leave a message but has not done so.  We have gone over and beyond to try to solve this problem.  His roof is a danger to our employees with the rotten plywood underneath.  If he feels we are unprofessional and we don't finish our work, why would he want us to come back.  I feel he would never be satisfied.  Constantly complaining about our work.  When it comes down to the fact that he can't afford a new roof and he wants everything for nothing.  The original leak was rised at our expense.  Sometimes there are those people that just aren't happy no matter what you do or say.  what a sad world we live in when you try to help people who are so ungrateful.  Then they try to hurt our business by saying things that just aren't true.
