I do not want an apologyI need for the gas leak to be repairedI need actionRight now there is no smell of the gas in the houseIs it because the leak is outside and is being suppressed by the cold weather? I do not know but, what I need is for the next time I contact Shaffer's Gas of an gas leak they need to respond right awayGas leaks are a hazard and can be deadlyLast year I contacted Shaffer's Gas several times and they would only send someone out just onceThis complaint needs to be forwarded to the PUC

Mr Jeff S*** lied about the visit that the service tech results were on 11/29/First of all, I notified them at 1:P.M11/29/of the gas smellThey never sent a tech until 5:P.M. that eveningWhen the tech first came, the first thing that he did was put a tester at the outside regulator where the gas tanks areIt registered that there was a drop in gas pressure and that meant that there was a leak somewhere in the systemThe tech then preceded to apply a liquid around the gas piping and around the appliancesHe did not find anythingHe then went back outside to check his meter and, it still showed that there is a leak somewhere in the systemThe tech spent about 2-hrstrying to find where the leak is but, he could not find anyHe got frustrated because his meter would some times show that there is a leak and then it would show that there is not a leakHis meter was going up and down all eveningHe turned off the gas to the appliances but, his meter still would show that there is a leak somewhere in the systemThat immediately ruled out any of the appliances as in need of repairNothing was wrong with any of the appliancesAs a last resort, he decided to tighten the fitting behind the stoveHe stated that the fitting was a little tiny loose but, his liquid test had showed that it was fine before he tightened itThe tech checked his meter once again and, the meter was at its ok pointKeep in mind that his meter would show ok and then not ok all eveningSo that was not a good answer as the tech had stated that he felt there was a leak somewhere else but, he did not know whereKeep in mind that the gas smell had been sporadic since July of We did not contact Shaffers until November of after someone advised us that they felt the smell was of gas and not of anything else. As far as the fitting at the rear of the clothes dryer being loose, the tech never tightened it anymore than it already wasSo MrS*** lied about that alsoAs far as notifying some one of any leaks no matter where it may be, the GAS COis the agency to contact for repairsNo plumber nor any individual knows how to repair gas leaksIf the gas company comes to try to find the leak and can prove that an appliance is in need of repair or replacement, it is up to the gas company to turn off the gas at the appliance and for the customer to contact the store that it was purchased from to repair itAfter the tech tightened the fitting behind the stove, the gas smell was not as often but, periodically, that slight gas odor still comes and goesIt is does not smell very much anymore but, it is still aroundI would suggest that MrS*** install a recording device for at least 30-days to see if the recorder shows any more drop in pressure and whenHe apparently needs to get a qualified engineer who can do a study of the problem as, his techs are only techs! As far the consumption of gas for the last 5-yrsShaffers does not have one date to check the tanks for storage usage or notThey had replaced a tank when they wanted to and would not let us check on how much gas was still in that tankThis is estimating gas usage and not actual gas usage reading. All said and done, Shaffer’s Bottled Gas, Inc., Jeff S*** the owner, does not want to service what they sellJeff S*** does not want to follow the law concerning any type of gas leak probability for the safety the customer and for the safety of all other people living close to the affected danger area. Re: ID ***Our records indicate that we were contacted to investigate an odor of propane gas on 11/29/We responded to that request on 11/29/at 5:30pmWe have no record or recollection of a complaint of a gas odor in the house before this dateI personally spoke with the customer
while he attended our open house event in September of and he never mentioned to me a concern about a gas leak.Our technician preformed a leak test with a pressure gauge and recorded a gas tight piping distribution system with no leaks after discovering a minute leak at a fitting close to the clothes dryer and tightening that fitting on the gas piping system inside the houseThe technician checked for leaks outside at the propane tank and did not detect a leak at the time of the investigationThe customer expressed a concern about the integrity of the gas piping system inside the house and was advised that much of the piping was installed around the 1950s (our best guess) and other gas piping was installed at a later dateThe customer was informed that the homeowner owns all the gas piping downstream of the gas regulator including all the gas piping inside the house and is responsible to maintain and service the gas piping and appliances at the homeowner's expense.In this instance, we did not charge the customer a fee to investigate the odor of gas or to tighten the fittingIt is our policy is to issue a gas credit, if a gas leak is discovered with equipment that is owned and the responsibility of Shaffer's Bottled Gas.Also, we have evaluated the customer's average usage over the last years and their current gas consumption is consistent with their past consumptionWhile this evaluation does not confirm or deny a leak, it does not substantiate a claim relating to a loss.Again, we welcome an opportunity, as we have explained to the customer in the past, that the homeowner bears the responsibility for the gas piping and appliances inside the houseOrange flames are particulate passing through the burner system and are considered by the manufacturer.If a customer at any time alerts us that there is a smell of gas, we will respond promptly and leak test the gas piping system and correct the leak, if detected and the customer so requestsIf the customer thinks or we discover a problem with an appliance we recommend they contact an appliance repair facility.Jeff ***
