Shama Jewelers, Inc. Reviews (2)

I went to the mall on back in October 2013 to look at wedding bands. My finance and I was looking around for rings. I had VS1 clarity 5 stone white gold ring. I wanted to get to sell the ring and wasn't sure what I could get for it. So, I saw a band with black diamonds. This is what my finance wanted to have as a ring. I meet with [redacted] at Shama Jewelers. I told him that I wanted to exchange the rings for the black diamond band. So, [redacted] spoke with his mother and he came back to me. He gave me the ring. I asked him was it white gold and he stated yes. I come to find out that the ring is sterling silver and not white gold at all. I gave him a ring that was worth at least 1500. I realized that I wasn't going to get what I paid for it. When your selling merchandise you do not lie about it. My finance wanted the ring so, I didn't bother them again about that ring.I took him another 15 stone white gold ring which also had VS1 clarity to see what I could find for myself. I saw a ring that I rally liked. He told me that it was white gold. The ring was on layaway in exchange for the 15 stone white gold ring. I finally picked up the ring in February and paid cash on the balance of the ring. I wore the ring for the very first time and the little chips fell out of it. I gave him VS1 stones not chips for what I purchased from Shama Jewelers. I'm very disappointed and disgusted about the whole situation at this point. I was able to exchange the ring for another ring. The ring is suppose to be 10 white gold. The ring is changing and I haven't even wore the ring for a month. I recently married my finance and this ring is turning some shade of bronze already as if I've had it for years. I have purchased plenty of jeweler and never had this problem. They sold my first ring for $1200 and in return I get a sterling silver ring that's not a [redacted].Desired SettlementI would like for them to either give me a REAL 14 WHITE GOLD DIAMOND BAND THAT'S WORTH THE RING THAT WAS GIVEN TO THEM IN EXCHANGE FROM THE BEGINNING. I WOULD LIKE TO GET MY MONEY BACK IN THE AMOUNT OF 1580 Business Response To the Ms. [redacted] came by Shama Jewelers in October of 2013. The store has been operational for 3 months now. She was looking for a wedding band for her husband. She specifically wanted a black diamond ring. After browsing the store she found one that she liked. She asked if we did trade-ins. I told her that we buy gold and price precious stones accordingly. She showed me her 14k White Gold ring with 5 diamonds and said she wanted to trade in the ring for the band she liked. I TOLD her that the black diamonds were placed inside a SILVER BAND. It could be that she didn't pay attention to this and wanted to know if we could do an even trade. Her ring was approximately 6.5 grams of 14k Gold with 5 real diamonds. Calculating the gold price and the value of diamonds, I offered to purchase the ring was for $335 ($250 for 5 diamonds and $85 for the weight of gold). The ring that she had her heart set on was tagged for $529.00. After consulting with my mother and also honoring the discounts present at the time, we decided to do an even trade. Because of that reason, no paperwork was filled out and she began shopping for her own ring. On October 19th 2013, Ms. [redacted] selected a ring which was 10K White Gold with 0.76CTW diamonds. Again, with the discounts running at the time, the deal was finalized at $1720. She then presented another 14k White Gold ring with 15 diamonds; this ring was bigger than the one she had previously traded in. Upon further discussion, it was agreed that another $500 would be deducted from the total of $1720, now making the total $1220. This new total also included resizing the ring from size 7 to size 6. Ms. [redacted] gave her ring to Shama Jewelers as a payment of good faith since no money was put down. She made her final payment on February 7th 2014. A few days later she came back saying that the diamond has fallen out. I replaced the diamond and fixed the ring. A few days after that, she came back in again with the same issue of stones falling out. I was really embarrassed that my jewelry was causing so many problems so once again I fixed the ring for her at no charge. At this point she was hesitant about this ring. Now over the last 4 - 5 months, the relationship between Ms. [redacted] and Shama Jewelers had grown strong in friendship. Because of that reason and to continue to build up that bond, we decided to leave the floor open for Ms. [redacted] and let her pick out another ring. She was relieved at this notion and then picked out a ring that was 10k White Gold with 1.00CTW diamonds. The tag price of the ring was $2941. Now let's rewind. She first picked out a ring that was 10K White Gold with .76ctw diamonds priced at $1720, traded a ring she was given $500 for and used it as down payment. She then paid the remaining balance of $1220. After several attempts of repairing and replacing diamonds back onto the ring with no charge to her, she upgrades to a 1 whole CTW ring worth twice as much as the one she had originally paid for. Looking back at this, I can only think of 2 ways I was wrong:My first mistake was that I didn't file the paperwork for the even exchange. If I had, I would have had proof that I repeatedly told her the ring she selected for her fiance was silver. I didn't know that she was under the impression that the first ring she selected was WHITE GOLD, which I honestly cannot believe when I REPEATEDLY told her that it was in fact SILVER. She brought this matter to our attention when she came in to fix her stones the second time. She complained about how her ring kept losing diamonds, which I felt very sorry about and tried my best to fix. In her long tirade, she mentions that we cheated her and lied to her about her fiance's ring being white gold. I again explained her the whole situation and told her AGAIN that the ring was sterling silver. She left the store that day knowing completely well of this and still went out of her way to file a complaint. My second mistake was thinking that Ms. [redacted] could be considered a friend of Shama Jewelers when clearly after favors and favors, she still seems to be an unsatisfied customer. In regard to her claim that the ring she decided to keep is turning, I can honestly say that it isn't turning any shades of brown or bronze because the day she filed the report (5/31/14), she came into Shama Jewelers and demanded that we clean her ring. WHICH WE DIDN'T. Since I was not available at work, my mother told her that upon my return I would take care of the ring. My mother saw the ring and there was no discoloration. If she didn't trust us or believe us to be fair, why did she come back to buy her own ring, pick out another ring, and now comes by ON THE DAY SHE FILED THE COMPLAINT to get her ring cleaned? I do not wish ill on her, but I, along with the full authority of Shama Jewelers, believe that we have done more than enough with the matter. We have provided favors and tried our utmost to be fair, professional, courteous and patient. I WILL NOT BE PROVIDING ANY REFUNDS TO MS. [redacted] NOW OR IN THE FUTURE.Sincerely,[redacted]Consumer Response Here is my response to what I've read from [redacted] @ Shama Jewelers. I did in fact stop by the store to speak with them about cleaning my ring. I did not take the ring off. The mother does not know if the ring had tarnished or changed colors, because she did not look at it AT ALL! THEY DID NOT WANT TO TOUCH THE RING. THEY STATED THAT [redacted] WASN'T THERE AND I GOT THE BUSINESS CARD AND LEFT. THAT'S WHEN I DECIDED TO MAKE THE COMPLAINT AGAINST THEM. SECOND, HE NEVER STATED THAT MY HUSBAND'S RING WAS STERLING SILVER. NOT ONE TIME! THIRD, I HAVEN'T WORN THIS RING FOR A MONTH AND IT'S TARNISHING ALREADY. WHEN YOU DIP JEWELRY IN WHITE GOLD, YES IT TAKES TIME TO TARNISH OR CHANGE BACK TO its ORIGINAL COLOR. I got married with this ring any way. I DID NOT HAVE TIME OR MONEY TO CHANGE THE RING OVER AGAIN!! I HAVE TAKEN PICTURES OF MY RINGS, MY HUSBAND AND MINE TO SHOW YOU THAT THEY ARE TARNISHING ALREADY. To have purchased these rings in for them to start changing colors as we speak. I AM AFRAID TO WASH MY HANDS WITH THE RING ON MY FINGER, CLEAN IN CLEANER, AND LOOSING STONES. I AM VERY DISGUSTED WITH THE WAY THIS WHOLE SITUATION HAS TURNED OUT. I THOUGHT THAT I WAS BUILDING UP A REPORE WITH A JEWELRY COMPANY THAT I COULD TRUST AND MAKE FUTURE PURCHASES. DECIDE NOT TO RESOLVE THE MATTER. I WILL HAVE NO OTHER CHOICE BUT TO GO TO [redacted] I-TEAM INVESTIGATION TO GET IT RESOLVED EFFECTIVE IMMEDIATELY. I WILL ALSO MAKE A CCOMPLAINT TO THE CREDIT BUREAUS AS WELL. I WILL HAVE THIS COMPANY EXPOSED FOR THE LYING, CHEATING, THIEVING COMPANY THAT THEY ARE. I WILL EMAIL THE PICTURES TO [redacted] TO GO ALONG WITH THIS FILE. I HAVE NEVER HAD THIS TYPE OF EXPERIENCE BEFORE WITH JEWELRY PURCHASES. THIS REALLY SAYS ALOT ABOUT THIS COMPANY. THEY NOT CONCERNED ABOUT THEIR CUSTOMER. THIS IS VERY GOD TO KNOW THAT A JEWELRY STORE IS NOT CONCERNED ABOUT RETURNING CUSTOMERS TO EXPAND THEIR BUSINESS. THANKS A LOT SHAMA JEWELERS INC. WHAT YOU'VE DONE TO ME WILL JUST TURN AROUND AND BACK FIRE IN YOUR FACE. Final Business Response We at Shama Jewelers have complete confidence in our service. We did not lie or cheat Ms. [redacted] or any of our clients. At least two of us, my mother and I, made sure to tell Ms. [redacted] on several occasions about her fiance's ring being sterling silver with black diamonds. If there is still a doubt in her mind, then I am sorry, but not responsible, for her misunderstanding. I am satisfied with my service to Ms. [redacted] in all her transactions at Shama Jewelers. Each of us went above and beyond to make her feel comfortable and to provide exemplary professionalism. We have done our best to make her happy and satisfied. We deeply regret Ms. [redacted]'s concerns but we have done everything in our power to resolve these issues. There is nothing more to do.

Purchased 2 rings at $400 each. Seller said that cost would be approx $1096. Called finanacers and they said that they are charging me $2000 extra.I purchased two rings at approx $400 each. Sellers told me that the total cost with financing would be approx $1096. Thinking I was almost paid off, I called the financers (Progressive) and they said that they charged me an additional $2000 for the contract with them, which the Sellers did not explain nor tell me about. I can't see two rings at $800, costing me $2900 with taxes (per [redacted], from Progressive).Desired SettlementI would like to be exempt from this contract with Progressive (as I will be filing a complaint with them also) and just pay for the balance of the rings and be done with both companies. I trusted the sellers and they scammed me. I will be filing a complaint with Consumer Affairs also.Business Response /[redacted]/This customer came into Shama Jewelers on april 18th 2015. The customer wanted to lease the merchandise and upon filling out the form they received a $1300 approval from progressive financing. Out of which the customer used $936 1) A 10kt .27cttw diamond women's band $4232) A 10kt .27cttw diamond women's band $4233) A Stainless Steel Men's Bracelet $ 90After the purchase, the lease paperwork was done which required $77.34 (AkA First installment payment) This was deducted from the principle balance. I personally let the customer know that this is the minimum payment required by progressive and if the customer paid twice the minimum payment every installment period which is approx $155 then the balance of the lease will be terminated within 3 months. Progressive waits for the initial 90 days before adding additional interest to the lease. So We highly urge Each and Every Customer attempting progressive leasing option to pay for their merchandise within the 3 month grace period to avoid a hefty interest. All the information was provided to the customer with copies of the paperwork work Emailed to the customer's email address. Consumer Response /[redacted]/Interest is one thing, however it was not explained that the contractual amount would be $2000 per the statement from the rep at Progressive. The contractual amount is not interest as I am now being informed. Progressive said to enter into the contract with them was $2000 alone. I am not satisfied with the response received and I still would like to sever ties with both companies, have what I paid into applied to the original amount, then paid what's remaining and be done.
