We have paid all of bills in full when received bill. We have communicated this repeatedly and offered proof. Won't tell us where $248 was applied.
My name is *** J. ***, Jr. I had a surprise triple bypass at San Angelo Community Medical Center in November of 2016. I have been harassed by a collection agency for over a year regarding a bill on account # XXXXXXX for the amount of $114.33. I have provided documentation from my bank several times that this was paid in January of 2017. It seems a problem may have occurred because that payment of $114.33 was applied to another bill (possibly account # XXXXXXX). I show that I had 6 accounts with San Angelo Community Medical Center as a result of this surgery and I have documentation where I paid each one. I should not have been turned over to collections.

Here are the accounts I show that I had and how each was paid. I have enclosed documentation from my bank once again.

First off I paid $2166.28 before the surgery on 11-4-16.
These are the bills I received from San Angelo Community Medical Center:

Account # XXXXXXX for $1260.22. $960.22 was paid from my *** Bank account ending in *** on 1-5-17. The remaining $300 was paid with a Visa Gift Card.

Account # XXXXXXX for $285.13. $270.00 was paid from my *** Bank account ending in *** on 1-6-17 per instructions from *** in the business office.

3. Account # XXXXXXX for $93.45. $93.45 was paid with my flex card.

4. Account # XXXXXXX for $248.81. $248.81 was paid from my *** Bank account
ending in *** on 1-5-17.

5. Account # XXXXXXX for $692.82. $692.82 was paid from my *** Bank account
ending in ***

6. Account # XXXXXXX for $114.33. $114.33 was paid from my *** Bank account
ending in ***

While trying to figure out why we keep getting bills for $114.33, my wife seems to have discovered that the $248.81 payment made on 1-5-17 didn't go to any of my accounts. We are not sure what the hospital did with this money but it seems they did not apply it to any of the accounts I would have been responsible for, including ones for my wife and children. We suspect that it is possible the $248.81 might have been applied to someone with the last name of *** (possibly my wife's ex-husband *** My wife Rebecka and I had not been married very long at the time of this bill and if you look at the copy of the check the bank provided, it still says her former name, *** on it.

It is also possible the account number was wrong, because if you look closely at the check, the memo appears to say 1885271 *** J *** JR instead of XXXXXXX.

In any case, I have documentation where I paid each and every bill I received from San Angelo Community Medical Center. I am tired of being harassed by collections over this. Six accounts and six proofs where I paid the bill. It is that simple. If my payment was misapplied, that is not my fault and not my problem.

Desired Outcome

Correctly apply the $248.81 and fix the credit complaint they filed after we let them know we had paid it.

Dear Mr.:

We have been working diligently to address your concerns since we first became aware of the situation on 9/9/18 upon receipt of your Better Business Office complaint. This letter is being written to provide you with follow up on our findings and actions.

We were able to identify that the check in the amount of $114.33 which was sent to our Shared Service Center from *** Bank on your behalf listed account number XXXXXXX prominently in the left upper hand corner and thus was applied to that account. This resulted in account XXXXXXX with a balance of $114.33 being turned over to Medical Data Systems for collection as no payment was credited to that account. Notes in the Shared Service Center system indicate that as a result of your call to them, this payment of $114.33 was identified and moved to account XXXXXXX this paying that account in full.

We were also able to find that the payment of $248.81 sent via check from *** Bank on your behalf also had account number XXXXXXX listed prominently in the upper left hand corner and was also applied to that account.

At this time we have been able to confirm that all of the accounts that you listed in your complaint are paid in full. Our Shared Service Center Director was able to confirm with the collection agency Medical Data Systems that they also show account XXXXXXX to be paid in full and therefore have ceased collections efforts.
