Sharps Gym & Fitness Center

We were sent to collections for a $***+ bill after not being there for two year and never having signed a contract
My husband went to Sharpes Gym with a friend to try out their services and start working out He knew he wasn't great at maintaining a workout schedule, so he just wanted to try something low-key somewhere without a lot of people around He went for a month or two At this point, our credit card company notified us that they were going to change our card number due to a possible breach of information Once we were given our new cards, my husband went in to Sharpes Gym, paid his bill for the current month and one additional and told them that he would like to discontinue his month-to-month services We never heard from them until two years later In ***, we received a collections notice from *** for $*** I called *** and let them know I would be disputing the claim I looked up the gym's website and called the only number listed on it ***

During the winter of *** I signed up at Sharpes and the manager at the time said that I would only be charged a month and I decided that after working out one time that I wasn't going to go anymore so wanting to make sure that I would not be billed for another month I tried calling the manager and I left messages with no return callI then went in and tried to catch the manager while he was at the gym but never saw him again and as a last resort I wrote a very legible letter with all my info saying to cancel the membership and I had the keycard in the envelope and slid the letter under the door of the gym officeThinking that there was no way this could be ignored I considered the issue resolvedA year later I received a bill from *** for *** and so that must have been nearly a year of membership after turning in my key card and leaving a note as a last resortI initially was introduced to the gym by **
