Mr [redacted] had his truck towed in for a crank no start condition. We scanned the truck while he was here and code [redacted] throttle inhibit circuit. My technician installed a test FICM and truck still did not start. We removed the upper fuel filter and found the stand pipe broke, customer said...

he just did fuel filters which he used a non [redacted] filter, he authorized us to repair stand pipe and change the fuel filters to a factory [redacted] filter. While customer was here we cranked on truck and fuel was coming out of the tank vent. The next day my technician pin point tested circuit and found it bad. Customer had installed an after market turbo that required a control box that was attached to all three PCM connectors, that had shorted out causing the FICM inhibit circuit to go bad. The technician overlay-ed the circuit. The truck now started and ran but it was rough. The technician took fuel pressure readings and they were all over the place. Removed fuel filter cap and fuel had air in it. technician told me fuel pump was probably damaged due to fuel being back fed to the vent. I called Mr [redacted] and told him the diagnosis, he authorized me to order and install new factory [redacted] pump. The next morning he called and said , "He would buy the pump thru his work account because it was cheaper." The [redacted] dealership delivered the pump that we previously ordered by us and we installed it. Truck started and ran, still had misfires, called Mr [redacted] and told him we found two injectors were misfiring, he said that the injectors were new that he just installed all new injectors, head gaskets, turbo etc. We told him the injectors should be under warranty and he should contact the place where he bought them. Mr [redacted] called later that day and said he was going to have truck picked up that he would fix himself, he denied the repair thru Shasta County Diesel, we returned his old parts to him. Tow truck showed up told us it was going to the dealership, then he got a call while loading truck and he was instructed to take truck to [redacted]. This was on Sept 3, 2015. Then on Sept 8, 2015 I received a call from Mr [redacted] that his truck had been fixed and all it needed was a FICM. I explained to him that we put a test FICM in and that didn't fix it. He said he didn't know but that is what they did and truck now runs. He wanted his money back on the fuel pump that was not needed. He said [redacted] had tested his original fuel pump on the bench and in his truck and it worked. I told Mr [redacted] to give me a couple of days and I would get back to him. I called the owner of [redacted], and asked him if he had tested the fuel pump and what was the outcome, he told me that they didn't touch or test the pump and a FICM was all that was needed. He also told me that it was his shop not the customer that had done all the previous work on the truck. I told Mr [redacted] that I didn't want to argue that I would buy back the pump that he bought and authorized back at $400.00, he agreed. On Friday Sept 11, 2015, Mr [redacted] arrived at my shop and handed me a dirty used pump, I asked what is this he said that's his old pump, I said no we agreed that I would buy back the new pump and where was it, he said still in the truck. I told him if he pulled it in the shop I would have my technician pull the new pump and reinstall his old pump if he wanted me to reimburse him. My technician called me out to the shop to show me that the used pump he had brought with him was not his original pump. My technician also noticed that the driver side valve cover had been removed since the truck left my shop due to the way we install. This was the side that had the two bad injectors. We confronted Mr [redacted] and he said how do you know that, he insisted that this was his original pump. We explained to him his old pump had a heater in it and this one did not and it also didn't have new filter in it that we installed before the truck left. The new fuel pump required an updated harness which was on his bill from the [redacted] dealership, see attached, and had to remain in truck for the pump he brought back claiming it was his original pump. Mr [redacted] then pulled his truck out of shop and entered office where we had cut a credit and refund check for pump he proceeded to try challenge us for the refund of the harness also but we had to leave that part in his truck in order for his pump to work. We requested him to sign the credit and that was all he was receiving back due to previous agreement. On a side note our technician is [redacted] trained and we have the same equipment as the [redacted] dealership. we feel that Shasta County Diesel went above and beyond for this customer not even charging him for the excessive diagnostic we performed.  Upon receiving complaint from Revdex.com we contacted [redacted] requesting a written statement in regards to them testing the fuel pump and if they installed injectors in the two cylinders showing bad and they refused.
