Shaughnessy Contracting Reviews (13)

This project has in fact been delayed at times and is frustrating for both parties. Although we appreciate a helpful homeowner, from the start we have felt that Mr*** has tried to micro manage the process, which has cause MANY delays and extra work at times since it involves change.
For instance, upon delivery of the windows Mr*** changed the design he wanted, which required a 3-week delay to get the other windows in. Also, when the painting crew showed up to spray the interior, he insisted that it be rolled instead. Trying to please the customer our painter is complying, however, this method takes longer and would involve more than one trip. The fact that the end product does not match the original plans shows the number of last minute changes the homeowner has requested, which also require going back through the city and more delays. We apologize for some of the delays out of our control, such as the painter being hospitalized the day after he started painting. However, had he been able to do what he originally intended to, it would have already been completed. In regards to Mr ***'s reference that our good review must have came
about prior to taking over the business, this is also incorrect. We had
taken over the business in and all of our good reviews came after
that. Also, the statement that they have followed the contract to the letter is untrue. The homeowner has not made his progress payment, which causes further delays until the contract is satisfied. Per the contract there is still a $5,payment due "upon substantial completion of the workReady for finishes i.epaint and floors." As it stands we have already started the finishes without payment. The painting is about to be completed, the flooring and cabinets being ordered, all of which put us AHEAD of the terms of the contract

*** *** The response given by this company is a simple refusal to honor the warranty THEY provided The roof that they agreed to place in is in the exact same location today as it was then and thus the warranty still holds - IT IS A FIVE YEAR WARRANTY They offered the warranty and agreed to place this roof in the so called "tornado alley" We are still within the five year warranty that was given by the company The issue is the poor quality of work that was initially done The person that did the first two repairs, required because the shingles were falling off after a simple rain storm, was an EX employee of theirs who agreed to do the repairs because he lived in Texas The storm that blew the shingles off this year, April 18, 2015, was a simple thunderstorm with winds 50-mph This roof is rated for over mph as was sold to us by the company!! This was NOT A TORNADO A warranty is a warranty THE SHINGLES BLEW OFF BECAUSE OF IMPROPER INSTALLATION

Regarding the original repairs done to this customers home: we had to come back multiple times because of the pitch factor of his roof (8-12). The person that repaired it was not a family member of someone who worked for the company. He actually worked for our company and moved to
Texas. These repairs were done under warranty. We cannot continue to do warranty work on a roof, however, that is in the middle of Tornado alley. This area has had multiple storms in the last month that have blown off many roofs in the area including the *** *** *** ***, the ***, the *** *** and has even blown down walls in Arlington. Damaged shingles from wind are not covered under the warranty. It is unfortunate that years ago we did this roof because of a storm, however, the area is prone to storm damage that we cannot be held liable for

[redacted] The response given by this company is a simple refusal to honor the warranty THEY provided.  The roof that they agreed to place in 2012 is in the exact same location today as it was then and thus the warranty still holds - IT IS A FIVE YEAR WARRANTY.  They offered the warranty and agreed to place this roof in the so called "tornado alley".  We are still within the five year warranty that was given by the company.  The issue is the poor quality of work that was initially done.  The person that did the first two repairs, required because the shingles were falling off after a simple rain storm, was an EX employee of theirs who agreed to do the repairs because he lived in Texas.  The storm that blew the shingles off this year, April 18, 2015, was a simple thunderstorm with winds 50-60 mph.  This roof is rated for over 100 mph as was sold to us by the company!!  This was NOT A TORNADO.  A warranty is a warranty.  THE SHINGLES BLEW OFF BECAUSE OF IMPROPER INSTALLATION.

Our initial contract was for $7,850.00, which was completed and paid in full. After that time the homeowner added $15,600 worth of work to her home including removal of flooring and sealing of concrete, concrete kitchen counters and backsplash, and a tile shower stall. The homeowner, however, has...

not paid her final balance of $5,000 and was continuing to add more work in addition to our contracts. We have done over and beyond both contracts and still have not been paid for the work we have completed. After investigation  by the [redacted] they have retracted their involvement with this homeowner because they found no wrong doing with our company and the homeowner has no more work required to be done.

Texas.  These repairs were done under warranty.  We cannot continue to do warranty work on a roof, however, that is in the middle of Tornado alley.  This area has had multiple storms in the last month that have blown off many roofs in the area including the [redacted], the [redacted], the [redacted] and has even blown down walls in Arlington. Damaged shingles from wind are not covered under the warranty.  It is unfortunate that 3 years ago we did this roof because of a storm, however, the area is prone to storm damage that we cannot be held liable for.

Per our contract, we do provide a warranty for 5 years, but like mentioned previously and detailed in our signed contract we cannot be responsible for storm damage foreseen or not.  We did agree to replace this roof in “tornado alley” however, that is why the exclusions were clearly laid out in the contract.  This roof was replaced in April of 2012.  In December 2013 this specific area had 16 tornadoes touch down devastating the area of which Granbury was hit the worst.  If there was poor workmanship involved on our part, there would have been no roof left.  This is not a case of one storm in April 2015 that resulted in a problem, but a case of many extreme storms over a period of 3 years that have caused gradual damage and lifting.  We are very sorry for Mr. Wrights situation but feel we cannot be held responsible for the 3 years’ worth of extreme weather his roof has had to endure.

Shaughnessy Contracting did a great job and is easy to do business with. Their crew was conscientious and got to business, the job was completed very quickly and looks great. Don't worry they're OK

Jeff was on top of getting the job completed! Once we were ready to start he had everything started the next day. Jeff stopped by on the job everyday, even weekends, to make sure everything went smooth. Very professional and efficient!

This contractor takes their time to start repairing my roof, even after getting the first payment which is half of total amount due. We signed the contract and paid them almost a month and a half ago and no one has came to start working on my roof. We kept calling and they would give me excuses. When they knew we were calling and asking when they are going to start the only progress we got was them dropping off some shingles and leaving them on my roof. We believe this is a way for them to charge us a 15% fee for cancelling. I can't afford $700 in cancellation fee and I need my roof fixed. There has been 3 houses in my neighborhood that has their roof repaired before mine and we signed this contract before others. This is ridiculous. I would not recommend this contractor to anyone.

Review: Shaughnessy put a metal roof on our house in the summer of 2012. There was a contract that was signed to provide a 5 year warranty to fix any problems with the roof. I understand the company in not reliable for any damages to the roof that involve hurricanes, tornadoes, fire, lighting, hail, or falling trees. That is common sense stuff but when a normal storm blows through with higher than normal winds and I have a portion of my roof blow off, I don't understand why this time they refuse to honor the contract. They have had to come to the house on 2 other occasions to fix the roof for the same type of storm. The other two times the person they sent out to fix the roof didn't work for the company, it was a relative of someone in the company who worked with the company once upon a time. Shaughnessy had shut down their Arlington Branch and no longer had anyone in the area. The peson they sent out was very nice and did all he could do, both times. He said the roof was not installed properly because the singles were not fitted together properly. He said when the wind hits the shingles just right, air is going to get under some of the ones that are not fitted properly and will blow off which will cause others to follow. That has been the problem in all 3 cases but this time they refuse to come out and fix it. I'm sure it's because they don't want to have to send someone from Arizona because it would cost more than it's worth. I called [redacted] about the problem. He first told me he would have have to check what the weather was in our area because Texas has bad weather and they weren't responsible for bad weather and that he would get back to me in a week. Well, a week and a day later I didn't hear anything from Jeff so I called him. At first he was real polite until he realized it was me then proceeded to tell me that they were not going to fix the roof because Texas has hurricanes and they are not responsible for hurricanes. I told him I live in north Texas and we don't get hurrincanes. In the end he was tired of talking and hung up on me.

When their crew came out to put the roof on the first time, it was a very hot summer. I told them they could use my pool at anytime which they did many times to cool off. There was a time I even grilled out and feed them. I even provided them refreshments. Amazing how I take better care of his crew than he takes care of my situation.Desired Settlement: We had to spend $3,900 to get the roof repaired.

We enjoyed doing business with Shaughnessy Contracting. From Nicole at the front desk to the owner Jeff.

Nicole was extremely helpful in reaching out when we needed her help to relay information to us and from us.

The cleanup was exceptional and the roof looks great.
