When I originally met with shaw creek I was asked if I wanted to replace the duct workAt that time I said no it is fine, there's nothing wrong with itI was not educated on the importance of the ductwork changing out at the timeThis was fall of 2011, the furnace was installed in a vertical position when it should have been horizontal to optimize air flow and prevent constrictionThis was not done, I am not a professional, but I have been told by two seperate professionals that regardless of the ductwork it should have been installed verticallyThe heat pump did not fail in the spring it failed that winter following instalationBefore shaw creek had come out for heat pump replacement they were out due to the house not heating properlyAt that time there was no real solution givenShortly after a wood burning furnace was installed since my home was 50-degrees when the heat was set at When the heat pump failed I called and soon after shaw creek came out and confirmed that it was not working and that it would be replaced as it was under warantyWhen the representative from the company for the heat pump came out with shaw creek less than a week later they not once blamed the air flow for the failureShaw creek actually said it was due to the wood burner and I needed to stop using itAt that time I became frantic and started stating how I can't my house is freezing this system has never workedBoth men went downstairs to check the system out as the rep from the heat pump company said something to the fact that there is no reason why this system should not be heating this house let's take a lookI was on the first floor and happened to be standing above a floor duct when a sudden rush of actual heat came out in excess of what had been coming it took me by shock so I yelledWhen I came down they said there wasn't enough return ducts, not enough air coming in to heat and I needed new ductworkAt that time they temporarily removed the door to the furnace and put a screen overWhen shaw creek returned with the heat pump part he replaced the door and cut out a slot to allow more air returnHe then told me he would get a quote for changing the ductworkHe called with a verbal quote of $1400, which I told him I could not afford at the timeThe dispute IS NOT a replacement of ductworkThe dispute is that he could have simply placed the system horizontally rather than vertically without installing any new ductworkThe placement of the system allows only a portion of air to enter or exit the system compared to its capability which is restricting air flowEven if the ductwork was replaced, the system would still need to be horizontal to allow air flow with restricting the systemEven if more return ducts are installed and the whole system was replaced it still does not change that he could have used his professional expertise to look at the system realize that the airflow would never be adequate with the system vertical as opposed to horizontal.

where the old furnace sat. I was contracted toreplace the furnace and heat pump. Not to replace a new duct system.During installation we realized an inadequate air flow problem in which I let [redacted] know about. The duct needed modified because it was starving the equipment ofair flow. She asked how much, and I gave her a verbal quote of around $600.00-$800.00to correct a pre-existing problem. She stated she would have to save the money becauseshe had none at that time. I said "fine, just let me know. Don't let it go too long".[redacted] called again the following winter. I responded to her and nothing had beenchanged with the existing duct system. She bought a wood burner instead of fixing theduct problem. I advised her again of the problem with the duct system and the equipmentnot getting enough air flow. She did not contract with us to correct the duct problem.[redacted] called again in the spring of the year and said her heat pump was making a loudnoise and I responded to her call. I found the compressor in the heat pump had burnt updue to high head pressure as a result of the duct problem and air flow. I replaced thecompressor under warranty and no labor was charged and again told her this happeneddue to not modifying or replacing duct. I went into the basement and inscalled a largereturn grill to try and allow the furnace to pull more air and noticed someone had cut intothe supply duct and did a chopped up job of running round pipe. [redacted] informed methat she did that herself from watching it on the internet.  I was nice and told her that wasnot going to help anything because nothing was done to the return duct. As she stated inher statement to the Revdex.com, she told me 'No, she was not replacing the duct". This ties myhands in this matter.[redacted] stated that she called [redacted] in her statement, I alsocalled [redacted] I talked with a Representative, [redacted], and Iexplained that the Revdex.com had sent me a letter and his story 5 in fact not the same as hersand he said you could certainly give him a call on this matter. His number is [redacted]. I have never been reported to the Revdex.com in the 14 years of owning my owncompany. I feel I completed the job that I was paid for by [redacted]. I did not respond tothe last call from her because as she stated in her statement to you, once again, the duct isstill the same except where she cut into it. She still has the same issue as she did 4 yearsago. If you have any questions, feel free to contact me.Thank you,Michael * G[redacted]
