Good Car, Terrible Dealership Short version: Be EXTREMELY careful buying from Shawnee Mission Kia - they advertise features on their car listings then when you find out they refuse to do anything about it This is transparently advertisingLong version: I bought a Kia Soul + from the Shawnee Mission Kia used car division on 6/ One of the main reasons I went with this particular vehicle was the advertised "Apple CarPlay" functionality which comparable listings lacked (see the attached photo) I bought the car and after a day of waiting for the certification process to be completed I took it homeThat's when my trouble startedWhen I got the car home and followed the directions in the car's manual to pair my phone and set up CarPlay, I learned the car didn't actually have the feature at all I called my salesperson and when I didn't get an answer I emailed as well Finally days after my car's purchase I got a responseMy salesman agreed that this was a mistake and asked for time to talk to people and assured me they would "make it right" After my exchanges with him that day I haven't heard a single thing from the dealership I've tried calling and emailing him multiple times, I've tried emailing the general manager multiple times, I've even tried emailing the customer service account of Group Auto (their corporate owner) No answer from any of themI'm now faced with the choice of whether to pursue legal action simply because they won't respond to something that was very clearly their mistake I don't want to sue anyone I don't want to go around posting negative reviews, or filing complaints with the Revdex.com, or filing complaints with the Kansas Attorney General I don't want the hassle of doing any of that But I'm now at a point where a lawsuit may be the only option available to me simply because they won't return a call or an emailAll I have wanted from the beginning are the features that were advertised and that I agreed to purchase I don't understand their refusal to respond to me and rectify a situation that, at most, would have cost them a couple thousand dollars to fix Instead they have an extremely disappointed customer who will instead cost them tens of thousands in lost revenue by doing his best to ensure no one he knows buys from themGo buy a Kia - that's fine Just buy it from someone else Shawnee Mission Kia simply can't be trusted

I went in on a SaturdayThe actual sale of the car was fine and went smoothly, however, once I did all my paper work, Sales Manager Bryan B [redacted] then stated the car had not been serviced or detailed, causing a huge inconvenience, as I would now not be leaving with the car He offered to remedy the situation by delivering the car to my home MondayIt is now Monday, and here I am with no car and when I asked is it still being delivered, he acted surprised and said “I never agreed to that!” He blatantly lied to me on Friday and again on MondayAnother huge inconvenience I was forced to catch a Uber to pick up my carOnce I actually drove the car home, it had not been detailed and clean inside as BOTH Bryan B [redacted] and Sales Adsociate Andre W [redacted] had explicitly told me it hadThis was third flat-out LIE

On 5/25/I brought my Kia Sedona van in for an estimate regarding issues with the air conditioner After approx minutes of inspection I was advised by the assistant service manager Michael that the ONLY issue was the compressor and I was given a written estimate of $ I was also advised that there were campaigns or recalls on other parts on the car I specifically advised him that I was only concerned with fixing the air conditioner I told him that I would have to check with my wife concerning the repairs of the air conditioner After doing so, I then called Michael back to authorize repair of the air conditionerHe said the compressor would be ordered and he would contact me when it came in I was then contacted on 5/29/by Michael and was told that the part had arrived and I could bring the car in that day I arrived at the dealership around pm and spoke with Nathaniel the service advisor He then pressured me that there were also campaigns or recalls on the

I leased a car from Shawnee Mission KiaI turned in the car on March 26th, before the lease expiredIt was inspected on March 28thThe next correspondence was a bill from Kia Finance stating I was being charged $for "excess wear and tear"In contacting Kia Finance, I was told that their were pictures on a website to explain the chargeThere was a picture posted that showed a scratch with some paint missing on the right front fenderThis was not present when I turned the car in on March 26thI was told by Kia Finance that I would have to talk with Shawnee Mission Kia if I disputed the chargeI spoke with *** ***, general manager of Shawnee Mission Kia who told me that they would not assume responsibility for this as it was parked at their lotTheir lot is located on the same lot as an apartment buildingHe said they were not responsible for what happened while it was there

A Kia Optima LX Sedan stock #*** was listed at *** with the following rebates and interest rate that would have applied to my wife and me Dealer Discount Kia offer Kia offer Financing offer Loyalty offer & interest rate through Kia This would have had the car at before we walked through the doorHowever when we got there we were told none of those offers applied to the Kia Optima including the interest rateInstead the best interest rate would be the loyalty offer does not apply to the Optima the offer refers not to the but to the modelsthese offers are suppose to run from *** through and have been listed with this car from the beginning of that date.To top it off they had added a package to the car upon receiving it on *** that added *** to the price which is not show anywhere other than being told to the customer at the place of business because there was no sticker in the window backseat

My car was deemed a total lossI contacted the finance department to get documents needed for gap claimWas told to come to the dealership and they would give me the documentsI get to the dealership and get told gap has to send me paperwork before cancelling the service contractSo I wasted an hour and a half of vacation time for nothingI told Ed in finance what I neededHe argued with me and told me I didn't need all thatHe called gap while I was there for them to "walk me through things"Not once did he ask about needed documentsThree days later Gap is still requesting the documents I asked forCalled the dealership and spoke with EdHe faxed documents, but gap says "they are too blury"Called and spoke with someone in finance dept 10-28-to request the documents be sent to me so that I can submit themI am told "we have current customers and this isn't important"Now I will have wasted more time to go to the dealership to get the documents I needNot only have they lost another sale but I will continue to spread the word on how horrible their after care is to customersIt is unprofessional to be told you're not important and it's just bad businessI suggest you go to a different Kia dealer if you are looking for a Kia
