Review: My mother broke her hip in August of 2014 & was sent to Shea Grossmont for rehab. Once she completed rehab the doctor informed me she should not return home & should be put in custodial care. As my mother's POA I had to enroll her in Medi-Cal which was suggested by Shea using their Medi-Cal liaison. I was told to spend down my mother's money to get her qualified. I wanted to pay her medical bills but was told to write a check to Shea Grossmont instead to get her qualified more quickly & Medi-Cal would cover her medical bills. My mother was approved for Med-Cal on September 1st of 2014. She was then moved in November to another of their facilities, Shea Magnolia for long term custodial care. Since I never received any bills from either facilities by Dec I contacted their accounting office & was informed she had a credit of over $4000 coming because the funds were not applied to her account. I then received a statement showing she had a $2823 balance due. I contacted them again & was told the credit was still there but not refunded to her or applied to pay her share of cost. I was shown this credit due by an employee at Magnolia & was told to contact Zany Farin at Grossmont for the refund. She sent an e-mail to Randi Pouge requesting the funds be released & mailed to me so I could pay my mother's outstanding bills to them. That was on January 28 2015. Monday I get a phone call from Magnolia that she now has an outstanding balance now of $3799. They told me they no longer have access to Shea's accounting because they were bought out by Ensign on 12/1/2014. I was told to contact Randi Pouge who was now in charge of all of Shea's accounting. I called her 5 times & left 3 voice messages beginning on 2/23. I have not received the refund or has she responded to my messages. I sent her a copy of the e-mail she received from Zany on the 28th requesting she release the funds along with an e-mail regarding this issue. No response or follow through from her as of today, 2/27.Desired Settlement: I would like the monies owed to my mother to be either refunded or applied to her balance at these facilities. I would also appreciate at least a phone call or e-mail informing me of the status of this issue. I feel Shea's accounting procedures are questionable & wonder if seniors without family help have overpaid for their care.
