I tried to complete the form via the Revdex.com website. I got an error message.
I received a complaint involving an unsatisfied customer. I own the hair salon, Shear N Dipity, located at [redacted], Va [redacted]. [redacted], the customer, accused me of misrepresenting a business and not having the proper legal name. To begin, I would like to inform whomever this may concern that [redacted] works for a salon that is one of our competitors. She accused my salon of misrepresentation by using a name. This is illegal and absolutely not the truth. The legal name of the salon is Rsplitends DBA Shear N Dipity. I have a sign over the salon that says Shear N Dipity. She stated that the salon was still named [redacted]. [redacted] was what the business was under with the prior owner. To have one of the reason for a refund be because of advertising in incomprehensible. It makes me wonder what her true intentions are and why she is "attempting" to be slanderous. By common law, the allegations that have been made are a defamation of character towards myself and my business
As far as her hair goes, she left the salon extremely happy with her hair. [redacted] had be a previous customer with one of our stylists, Taff. Although she was a difficult client, she was always very happy with her hair, until she started working at another salon. She received highlights and a cut from Taff and this was the beginning of the problem. On March 22nd, she saw Taff for an appointment involving an "ombre." She called the salon manager expresses her dissatisfaction with the service. As typical salon protocol, the manager tried to rebook her with Taff. The schedules didn't match, so that is when I stepped in and offered to help. When [redacted] came into the salon, she stated that she wasn't happy with the highlights because they were too gold. I agreed and went over the options with her. In order to lighten previously colored hair, one needs to use bleach. I meticulously went through her hair to lighten up the previous highlights since we both agreed that the placement of the prior highlights was well done. (Two very seasoned stylists had the same exact technique for what [redacted] asked for) I used an extremely gentle product since she had admitted to using boxed hair color from the grocery store.
After I lightened her hair, I brought out a color swatch book. Any good stylist does this with their clients in order to assure they are both on the same page regarding the desired outcome. In one of her many messages to me, she implied that it was unprofessional to have a client pick out their own color. This is a basic communication skill taught in cosmetology school. I applied a toner that she picked out. She felt it was too light, so I applied a darker toner. The application of toner is not damaging to the hair. In fact, toner is often used to add shine and condition to hair.
I finished [redacted]'s hair and insisted on blow drying it to make sure she was absolutely satisfied. She was so thrilled with the outcome. She couldn't stop touching her hair and looking at it while complementing how much better it looked and how happy she was. Of course, I did not charge her for any part of the service and in fact, gave her a free conditioning treatment worth $25. I mentioned several, several times to let me know if she had any problems with her hair once she styled it herself. She kept insisting that she was very happy, but I still wanted her to style it on her own to get the feel for how she liked it. I never received any feedback, so I assumed she was happy. I guarantee all of my work for two weeks, or I offer a redo or refund. Approximately weeks later, [redacted] sent me a message via facebook expressing her dissatisfaction. Her complaint was that her hair looked like she had inches of regrowth. I googled "ombre" and sent her a picture, demonstrating that that is what an ombre is. She also mentioned that her hair was extremely damaged and had to wait to have it corrected because of the damage. If her hair was as damaged as she implies, it would not have been healthy enough within a matter of a several days for a redo, as she mentioned in her message.
I did not damage her hair, nor did I have any reason to believe she wasn't satisfied with the end result. She became very offensive in her messages and I refused to be a part of it. To accuse me of doing business, illegally under a name is absurd and reckless. To then switch from extreme happiness over a service to extreme dissatisfaction was very odd to me. I have never encountered anything close to this situation in all of my years of being in the hair industry. I cannot refund money to a client who received a service and left extremely happy. Not to mention that she had ample time to give me feedback. She had messaged me that she was very happy with her first visit to the salon since she had recently had a few bad experiences with her hair. To reiterate, her hair was already damaged by her previously doing her own hair. The service I performed could not have possibly damaged it to the extreme she claims. I have no idea what she may have done to her hair from the time she left the salon to the time she made her first complaint, weeks later. Thanks for your time and please contact me if you need more information
Regards,
