Sheboygan Chrysler Center Dodge Reviews (2)

Review: I took my 2007 Dodge Caliber in for a stuck hatch and engine problems. I explained to them that the engine was making a grinding noise while accelerating and had very bad acceleration. I also told them that the back hatch was stuck and the back panel was loose. They called me with the diagnosis that the engine problem was caused by a rusted alternator and told me they couldn't tell me if that was the only problem until they replaced that first. I agreed for them to replace the alternator. They called me later to tell me that my car was ready and fixed. I picked up the car and on the drive home, I discovered that the engine problem was not resolved. When I got back home I checked out the trunk that they stated they fixed, and found the panel was still loose and the lock was still broken. Upon going to a different mechanic, he told me that my engine problem had nothing to do with the alternator and would never had made the engine noises I described and told me I was taken. It turned out to be the fuel pump and filter. I live out of state and when I called Sheboygan Chrysler, they told me that they didn't fix the lock but did glue the panel back on, which fell off when I made it back to Missouri. They told me to bring it back, but they knew I was from out of state and knew I couldn't bring it back so they basically said tough luck. They charged me $148.50 for the latch that wasn't repaired and $571.60 for an alternator that wasn't needed and didn't come close to fixing the problem. So basically I was charged $766.61 for them to not fix the two problems that I brought the car in for, and they claimed when I picked it up that both problems were fixed.Desired Settlement: I would like a refund of $485.10 plus tax for the labor they did. I realize that since I have the new alternator even if it wasn't needed, I accept that the alternator parts are in my car and am willing to pay for the parts. However, since I had to get the same things repaired that I originally took the car in for, I don't think I should have to pay for the labor since they lied about the car being fixed and took advantage of me.

Please don't make this a negative on our rating because I am past the deadline. This letter was also addressed to the wrong person. It was addressed to a General Manager at our sister store who is no longer with the organization, so it didn't get to me immediately.

Review: In November of 2012, my husband and I had to get our 2004 Chevy Suburban towed in because the right front axel was broken. We had bought it in 2008 with aprox 50,000 miles on it and in the 4-years we owned it only put 20,000 miles on the truck. We had purchased the extended warranty on the vehicle and I was upset that I found out from the mechanic shop we had brought it to prior to the dealership that the axel broke due to the original wheel barring's being defective. After hearing this, I decided to call the dealership and explain the situation. The person I talked to understood that although the warranty was expired after 3-years/30,000 miles, we hadn't reached the mileage portion of the warranty and that they could figure something out to help us with the almost $1,000 repair. We had the Suburban towed from the mechanic down the street to the dealership. They were so nice and lent us a car to use because they couldn't get the part in for another couple of days due to the Thanksgiving holiday. It took 1-week for the car to get fixed and I went to go pick it up to find out they whoever I talked to before (who couldn't be located) wasn't telling me the truth and I was stuck with a truck that the other barrings would go out and a repair bill with no deductions to pay before I could get my truck back! I was so upset. I was expecting to pay for part of it, not all of it. After causing a small scene, the manager was "kind enough" to give me 15% off my total and let me make payments.

After, we started looking to trade it in because of the fear it would break again. We tried giving Sheboygan Chevy/Dodge the opportunity to redeem themselves and let them know what we were looking for. In January 2013, they found it! So we gave them a shot. We got a decent trade in value for the truck towards a 2007 Dodge Charger with a 2-year/20,000 mile warranty.

2-weeks after bringing it home, the battery died. We couldn't even get it to start. We had it towed in and the dealership make it sound like they were doing us a HUGE favor by replacing the dead battery at no cost to us. In March, we brought it in because it was revving high. We thought it was the throttle position sensor. Paid $50 to have it looked at, not fixed, because there was no such part in the vehicle and they didn't see an issue. In June, out tire pressure light kept coming on and we would have to put air in it every week, then every other day, then every day. We called, had it looked at, the TPS was bad and it was going to be $250 to fix. Now, in September (only 8 months owning this car) and the rear left axel is broken and that in return damaged the ABS sensor. So, I figured it would be covered, after all the brochure said "All drive axels and components". My $100 bill turned into a $550 bill because the part of the axel (tone ring) isn't covered. Even though you can't replace that part w/o replacing the entire axel. And the dealership won't do anything even though the part was clearly corroded when we bought it and they either didn't see it or ignored it thinking they can get a sale when the owner had to fix it. BUT WHAT DID I PAY $1,500 FOR AN EXTENDED WARRANTY FOR??? And of course I need my car so my sister had to put the total on her credit card. Bought the car for $7000 ($7500 trade in value), $240/mo car payment. Owned the car for 8-months and already had to put $850 into it.

I also find it ironic that on both vehicles, similar parts broke. I feel like a safety inspection was improperly completed and I was given an unsafe car.Desired Settlement: I want them to reimburse me for the $750 that would have been paid after the deductible on my warranty for ALL repairs since I bought it. Further more, I would like a complete safety inspection of my vehicle done by a second party, and all problems to be fixed and paid by the dealership/warranty company.

Here at Sheboygan Chrysler Center we take great pride in our customer service and your feed back is important to our business. We apologize you did not have a positive experience and would like to try to rectify the situation. I looked into the first situation of the engine revving high and found that the technician could not duplicate the concern. He did put it on the computer and there were no codes or discrepancies with any of the vehicles running systems. I looked into the 2nd situation of the TPS failure and our records indicate that we diagnosed this concern but never did the repair. I looked into the 3rd concern of the tone ring and do not know why the warranty company would not cover this because it is part of the axle assembly. I will take that up with the warranty company. We are going to reimburse you for the $535.50 that was paid for this repair. As far as not doing a proper safety inspection, I have attached the safety inspection from your 2007 Charger. I wish every car we delivered would not have any problems, unfortunately vehicles do break down. We take great pride in making sure the vehicles we sell are properly inspected. I am very sorry for the problems that you had with your vehicles. If you have any other concerns, please don't hesitate to call me personally and I will help you in any way I can.
