dropped off a storm window and asked that we replace the cracked glassThe storm window is a first-generation Andersen style storm produced in the late 1950's and 1960'sThe storm was fabricated with a lipped aluminum frame and a single-strength piece of glass onlyThere are no corners or rubber; simply aluminum glued to glassThe work order written when the storm was received was notated to fix if possibleMany, if not the majority of this style of storm window are not repairableFurthermore, no completion date was promised(See attached.)
The "excuse" Mr*** was told was: "We are busier than a lawnmower shop the first week of May." We are blessed to have a workload larger than what we can handleWe are a mom and pop shop, literally; there are only the two of us--Tim and Carol SThis storm window was brought in at the peak of screen season and all storm repairs are given lowest priority during screen season; vice versa in cold winter when screens are given lowest priorityTypically our customers agree to this schedule as storm windows are not needed in warm weather - having them repaired before "the snow flies" is generally accepted by all
Mr***'s proposed resolution is not feasibleInitial examination of his window indicates it is not repairable because the adhesive appears to not have let loose from the glass; heating the framing with a torch will cause discoloration and is not always successful
Operating a small business is a challenge by itself; reality is that it is not possible to satisfy each and every personI'm sorry we are not able to satisfy Mr***

Thanks for your helpJust FYI, the second time I went back to check on the window which would have been the end of July, I was told "We will get right on this." They did not mention this in their response to you which is irrelevant anywayMy wife was with me when this happened and heard this herselfI worked in a shop for years and we were very busy alsoHowever, even in "peak season", I feel months is not acceptable for a repair such as thisIf the repair was next to impossible as they claim, it would not have taken long to attempt the repair, determine this, and callAgain, thanks for you help
