Review: I ordered a four-hour apartment cleaning from Shield Cleaning Co. I wish I had seen they have only a one-star review on [redacted] before doing so. They charged my Mastercard ($80.57) the day before the cleaning. The cleaning person, a young woman, arrived late, sniffling and coughing, looking too sick to be cleaning someone' s apartment. She sang loudly, and after 45 minutes of deficient cleaning--like wiping the kitchen counters without moving the appliances on the counter to wipe, or wiping the appliances themselves-- she said she didn't see much else to do in the apartment. When I pointed out the many things she could be doing, which was very uncomfortable for me, the girl went into the bathroom, closed the door, and preceded to talk on the phone for the next 40 minutes. I emailed Shield to give them a chance to rectify the situation; I wrote that they needed to call the young woman, ask her to leave, and then either give me a make-up service or refund my money. Shield called me on the phone and said they would ask her to leave and give me either a makeup service or a full refund. They added that that they would not be paying the girl anything for the day. I thought this was unethical business practice--they should pay the girl and then fire her, not keep using her and not paying her. Since it did not sit well with my conscience that the girl should not be paid at all, I gave her thirty dollars as she was packing up to go. A few days later, Shield did not respond to my emails about getting a refund instead of a make-up service. I eventually called my credit card, and the credit card put us on a three-way call. Shield said they were never going to give me a full refund or a full make-up. They now said they would only give me a partial refund, that I would have to pay for the two hours (never mind that the cleaning person wasn't even here for two hours). They denied everything they said on the phone, including the fact that they said they would not be paying their employee. It's a disgusting company, and I would like my money refunded.

Review: I hired Shield Cleaning to come and clean my apartment. The cleaner came on time to the job. When she arrived, she had no supplies with her. When I booked the appointment, I asked for the package that included cleaning supplies as I did not have any. I called the company to find out why no supplies were brought. They told me, once the cleaner arrived, the supplies were delivered after.

I took the cleaner around the apartment to show her what I wanted cleaned. I then waited there for the supplies to show up. about 45 minutes into the 3 hour time frame I booked, I told her to use what ever she could (ie- paper towels, some cleaning spray I had on hand) to start cleaning. I didn't want to make her wait longer for the supplies to arrive. I left.

An hour into the cleaning, the cleaner calls me to say the supplies have still not arrived. I called Shield to complain and find out where the supplies were. They said they were almost there. It is now an hour into the 3 hours of cleaning I purchased.

I returned to the apartment half way through to see the progress. All was going well. The cleaner was doing a good job.

At 6:45, 2 hrs 45 minutes into the cleaning time, the cleaner calls to say she is done and I can come back. I return to the apartment and find everything is in good clean condition. I signed off on this for her.

Prior to my return, the cleaner called the company to return to retrieve their supplies. They said they were on their way and would be there shortly. This was about 6:30pm. I returned to the apartment at 7:00pm.

After almost an hour of waiting, I called the company to find out where this person was who was coming to pick up the supplies. They were "on their way and coming soon." That was 7:45pm. At 8:15pm, no one had come. The cleaner was still on premises, and could not leave without returning the supplies. I called the office again to find out where they were. The gentleman who answered the phone said the guy was en route, on the [redacted] to come to my apartment. The person came at 8:30pm to retrieve the supplies. The cleaner left.

I was extremely upset by the poor customer service, lack of consideration for my time, and money. They completely wasted my time and the cleaners. After coming an hour late, and returning an hour and a half late, I feel that my 3 hour cleaning was reduced to a 1/2 hour of time that was not wasted.

The cleaner did a good job, but both people on the phone had no consideration for my compliant. They were completely deferential to what I was saying and could not care at all. They told me to put the cleaner on the phone, so as to instruct her to wait outside the building for the person to arrive to pick up the supplies. I told them I would not make her stand outside, in the dark, waiting. It was rude and completely inconsiderate. They were entirely rude and very unhelpful. I was highly disappointed with the service.Desired Settlement: I would like a refund for the service. They did not provide 3 hours of cleaning as promised. The cleaner was rushed, as the supplies did not arrive on time. My time was wasted waiting on both ends for them to delivery and retrieve the products. I feel that I am owed a full refund by this business.
