Shields Professional Movers

THESE PEOPLE ARE A COMPLETE SCAM. KEEP YOUR MONEY AND STAY CLEAR. THEY ARE LIARS, RUDE AND UNPROFESSIONAL!!!! THEY DESERVE NO STARS AND NOT A DIME OF ANYONES MONEY!!!!! We were told our tv's would be dismounted from the wall and reassembled, which didn't happen! We were told that we didn't have to remove anything from the dresser drawers and everything would be wrapped, which didn't happen! They lied about how many items could fit in the wardrobe boxes. They were hired for a 2 house move and the owner sent his 19yr old son and 2 other little boys. They had full knowledge with an itemized list of everything that was in both homes. this was a well calculated plan so that they could get more money out of us. we were quoted a price for 6 hrs, which was agreed upon by both parties. But because of how INEFFICIENT, LACK OF MOVING KNOWLEDGE AND UNPROFESSIONALISM, the little boys TOOK NEARLY 13 HOURS!!!! OUR TV WAS DROPPED AND SHATTERED!! A HEADBOARD WAS BROKEN TO PIECES!! THEY SCRATCHED UP OUR FRESHLY PAINTED WALLS ALL THE WAY FROM THE BOTTOM OF THE STAIRS TO THE TOP!! they didn't have enough equipment and supplies to wrap our furniture, glass, and mirrors. the 19yr "manager" insisted that we stop with the move and unload to fit the rest of our furniture and so that they could unwrap to use those blankets they had. when they came back with the 2nd load after THEY LEFT OUR ENTERTAINMENT CENTER BECAUSE THEY COULDN'T LEFT IT TO GET OUT, they had the audacity to demand an additional $315. when we refused the money he proceeded to close the truck and tried to drive off with our furniture. THE POLICE WERE CALLED AND AFTER THE OWNER WAS THREATENED WITH THEFT, THAT'S WHEN THEY UNLOADED OUR FURNITURE ON THE SIDEWALK!! THIS IS THE ABSOLUTE WORST MOVING EXPERIENCE I'VE EVER HAD. DO NOT HIRE THESE PEOPLE. DO YOUR RESEARCH AND KEEP SCROLLING AND GIVE YOUR MONEY TO REAL PROFESSIONAL MOVING COMPANY!!!!

Upon leaving my apartment to move my items to my new apartment, the moving truck door went up and some of my items fell into the street. I was not reimbursed for the damage to my items. I was told that someone would come out to look at the damage, but that did not happen. I was also told a week prior that I could pay with a debit card/credit card, but they would only accept cash after they finished moving me. I did not have cash so I had to find a bank. I was called numerous times while I was in search of the bank. Basically, my items were damaged by this company and correspondence to them have been unsuccessful.

I contacted this company approximately 2 weeks before I had to be out of my rental. The deal was $1200.00 which was supposed to include the moving of about 5 miles, packing the small 2 bed house (they were to provide packing materials) and cleaning the empty house. Two things I was adamant about was that I wanted to use a LOCAL company (Charlottesville area) and that the oven was to be cleaned. Michael G assured me they were local. It all went downhill after that:

The movers were to arrive at 9am to begin. They called me at 8:40 and said they went to the wrong address and would be about 1 1/2 hours late. The caller ID said Winchester VA. I thought that was odd considering they had promised me they were local to my area. How do you go to the wrong address 2 hours away? I called the office to inform them of the delay and the person answering the phone got very defensive and nasty so I hung up on him.

The movers finally showed up, 2 male teenagers and 1 female. Very young. They proceeded to begin carrying things out and the girl began packing the kitchen. She had about 5-10 small boxes they picked up at ***. Luckily I had packed about 3/4ths of the house already with my own boxes. If packing is part of the agreement they should show up with the materials. Obviously they ran out of boxes quickly. Their solution was to throw stuff on to blankets and throw them in their rental truck and into the back of my SUV. This included glassware, *** dishes etc. It was a mess. They just threw stuff all over the place.

Finally the house was empty. They proceeded to vacuum with my vacuums.$250 for a quick wipe down and vacuuming 2 bedrooms and a living room? oven not cleaned. We then went to the new place to unload. I instructed them to put boxes etc. in the spare room. They literally threw things in the room into a 4 foots pile, broke an overhead light, scratched my dresser and broke my landlord's mirror.
THIS IS THE WORST MOVING COMPANY I HAVE EVER USED and I have moved all over the country.
