[redacted] Please See Attached Documents [redacted] Ms. [redacted] came to my office last year and was given a treatment plan based on her needs. Her insurance coverage was verified and she paid her estimated portion. We submitted claims on her behalf to be paid for the services she received. the claims were... denied by her insurance company. My office staff has spent countless hours working on her claims over the past year, and the insurance company has repeatedly denied the claims. We have a sign at our counter and on the treatment estimates that covers this situation. We do everything in our power to maximize a patient's insurance, but it is ultimately up to the insurance company to approve or deny payment. Payment for services are the patient's responsibility, and as much is indicated on the treatment estimate. As I stated previously, we have worked on Ms. [redacted] 's behalf for nearly a year to resolve this for her and have gotten no further with her insurance company. We are now asking that she pay for the services we provided. We did tell Ms. [redacted] not to pay anything else while we worked on her claimes, but she was told the account had nto been paid in full. iwould be happy to answer any other questions on this matter. - Dr. Steve S [redacted]

Complaint: ***I am rejecting this response because: There was never an estimate providedI came in for a routine cleaning and the dental office changed the visit to a different type of visit without ever mentioning it could not be coveredI was told my cleaning was covered and I paid the portion they claimed I would oweIt is not my fault they took the visit further than what was actually set upThat is setting all patients up for failure and bills that they never should have gottenYou should not be allowed to do whatever services you decide to upgrade to and then tell the patient tough, too bad, your insurance wouldn't cover the upgraded services we did so now you get to eat it all because we have a sign that says you could be responsibleThat is unfair and very unprofessional, that means you can treat people for everything and not care what is covered and just charge people because you don't take the time to ensure clients are coveredNo one should get treated that wayThey kept submitting the request to the insurance to be paid because they didn't have sufficient clinical to support the need for the services they performedAgain, not the patient's faultI was never told not to pay just while they figure this out, I was told I was paid up on my last billI have talked with several people in the medical and dental field and they state this is extremely wrong alsoThey said some dentists stray from the contracted rates with the insurance company and then illegally turn around and tell the patient to pay what the insurance doesn'tI feel that is what is happening hereI came in for a cleaning and was told I was covered, services were upgraded to whatever they decided to do and they didn't mention it was any different, and then they turn around and charge me for it all a year later after I've already paid other bills towards thisIf I was ever provided an estimate and told I would be paying nearly $for a cleaning, I never would have had it donei want this bill zeroed out as I have already paid $193.40, now they want another $$for a "cleaning", that is insane and unacceptable. Sincerely,*** ***
