We repeat our response dated January *, 2015 in which we stated that the complaint is entirely without merit. We followed the complainant’s instructions for the wire transfer in question accurately and correctly. No bank in the US has any way of knowing if an account at a bank in another country is a US Dollar account or a local currency account. We further advised the complainant that any misunderstanding about the currency of the account in South Korea is the fault of the holder of that account since he/she must know what type of account it is, based upon documentation received when opening the account and from periodic statements received. We also were provided with a recording between the recipient of the wire transfer in Korea with the local bank in which the recipient acknowledged that the account was in local currency and that she would be receiving local currency and not US Dollars. Also, as explained previously we exchanged several e-mails with the complainant with this information, advising her that her complaint against us is without merit, but she has persisted. There is no additional information that we can provide, there is nothing that we can do, and we will not respond to any further complaints on this matter.

This is in response to complaint ID [redacted]. The facts of this case are as follows: We are a commercial bank and the complainant provided instructions on September **, 2013 to send a wire transfer to an individual in South Korea. The wire transfer request provided information on the name and...

account number of the individual who was to receive the transfer and we correctly followed the instructions on that date. We recently received a complaint via e-mail from the complainant that the individual in South Korea received local currency instead of US Dollars and we responded that we followed the instructions about the account number that she provided and that we have no way of knowing if an account at another bank is a US Dollar account or a local currency account. We further advised the complainant that any misunderstanding about the currency of the account in South Korea is the fault of the holder of that account since he/she must know w hat type of account it is, based upon documentation received when opening the account and from periodic statements received. Review: Happy holiday!

I, [redacted] sent wire money $9,000 to my daughter in law as gift in [redacted] Korea on Sep **, 2013.

I expected my daughter in law, Seo, In Jung received $9,000 dollar because she newly opened

US dollar account not [redacted] account.

Last week, when I asked my daughter in law to exchange $9,000 to [redacted]

I and my daughter in law realized that Shinhan Bank America delivered in Korean 9,580 Won on Sep **, 2013 instead of US $9,000 dollar.

When I requested the bank to reimburse the money $4,500 including reducing the money, interest , no-responsibility and stress,

the bank told me simply they could not help . the bank added up If I have any complain ,I'd better contact and ask

to [redacted] branch in [redacted].

Then, my daughter in law complained to Shinhan in [redacted], but the bank said that this case was happened in last year not in this year .

and also the teller who had worked for my daughter in law stopped to work at Shinhan now .

Then the bank in [redacted] told her not to be able to help either

I need your advise, please.

Happy holiday!

Best, [redacted].

PS: My account at Shinhan bank America : [redacted] My ending SS: [redacted]Desired Settlement: The Shinhan Bank America should refund me $4,500 as courtesy.
