I am writing in regards to a complaint filed by [redacted] ID# [redacted]. On September 25th, 2015 I had started working for Mrs. [redacted] and in working for her I have come in contact with multiple issues amongst working within and outside of the contract we had both signed at the beginning of...

this job. I had installed a fully functioning drainage system in her basement and successfully stabilized her garage walls that were bowed in and cracked. After completion of the work that was in included in the contract Mrs. [redacted] she had requested that I do carpentry work if she bought the supplies necessary for the job, and offered to pay $1000.00 for the carpentry services. I did the carpentry work she had asked of me keeping in mind that not all of this work was in writing in the contract. After completion of the job I was not paid the extra $1000.00 she had promised for the additional services.  She was also responsible for providing the materials needed for the carpentry work and left me without all of the necessary supplies to adequately complete the job. My company is not one that specializes in carpentry, but I was willing to do the work and do her a favor seeing as she was in need of my help. I was fully paid the $8000.00 for the completion of the basement drainage system but have yet to see complete payment to my company from Mrs. [redacted]. In regards to the garage wall, it has been properly stabilized but still needs dirt, I am aware that the dirt grade needs to be raised and that has been brought to the homeowners attention. I have told her that in her purchasing of the dirt the job will be done for her and will still be covered under her contract cost, and has since refused to purchase the said dirt. In saying this, her garage walls are left vulnerable to water damage. A bobcat was required in the garage work in order to complete the task to the standards I hold of my business. I do not want to be held responsible for this work any further considering the homeowner is not going to move on with this project knowing she is putting her home at further risk. In reading the complaint filed I would like to further note that myself and my employees did in fact show up for the job on the date both we and the homeowner had agreed upon, contrary to what was written in her letter to you and the rest of the Revdex.com. I take my work seriously and would never tell a customer I would start a job on a certain date and simply not show up. The removal of the slop sink was done upon request of the homeowner, she was responsible for replacing the slop sink. In the letter provided to you there is mention of a floor drain connected to the washing machine and after working in this basement there is in fact no floor drain, therefore I could not have possibly covered a non-existing drain. The washing machine was connected to the slop sink which drained into the sump pump, therefore why she was having an issue with the washing machine after removal of her slop sink that she did not replace upon my recommendation. Upon completion of this job I had received an excellent review from Mrs. [redacted]. She had such great things to say about my company and my work, so to receive a complaint with the Revdex.com comes with much surprise. As posted on my [redacted] profile: "John is the kind of professional we all thought we would never see again. He has values and standards that surpass any home related workers I have hired...and I have hired many! He is polite and has a super "can do" attitude. He takes in younger guys and teaches them how to be professional. Hire this company...I had three estimates and Below Dry is by far the best and most economical. Thanks John!" http://www.[redacted].com. I feel as though this job is one that I have put in much effort and have been unable to satisfy the homeowner despite my greatest efforts. She has since been in contact with me and spoke to me in a manner in which was both unprofessional and left me not wanting to do further work with her. I have done the work I had in my contract and additional work and still have yet to receive full payment. [redacted], thank you for your time. John Crumb Below Dry

I have reviewed the response made by the business in reference to complaint ID [redacted], and have determined that this does not resolve my complaint.  For your reference, details of the offer I reviewed appear below.
John Crumb is lying about not getting him the materials. He had all the materials he told me to get, whenever he needed them. In fact, his carpenter did start the work but it was so substandard, I fired him the same day. He also told me not to get the additional 3 yards of top soil until the spring--I had fill delivered and he told me how much to get...it still was not enough. These "extras" were never in the plan...nor was I told my garage would be flooded after he did the work. He NEVER told me I had to had a drainage system placed in the garage...nor did any of the contractors who bid. This problem occurred after he dug behind the garage. He never placed the plastic barrier he said he would... I also doubt he dry locked it as claimed. I have asked John for his lawyers' name so I make take him to court for all the damage and unfinished work done. He keeps telling me he will send the name, but still has not. John Crumb was adamant there was no permit needed for this work. He is again lying about this. After I made this claim w Revdex.com to try to get him to complete the job, he went to my town and reported me to the building code division (which he again weakly denies). I am now dealing with the town around this issue. What John Crumb doesn't realize is that he shot himself in the foot by claiming to do this work without a permit. If a permit was needed, I needed to know that. He denied that I needed one. I am done with this process. He seems to continue to want to not take responsibility for all the damage he caused, instead of making it right. [redacted] on line has removed his profile because of complaints. He instead, has signed on w [redacted], because no one knows about this issue there. I am out of town until mid February but my first order of business when I return is to sue this new company.
Regards,
[redacted]

Revdex.com spoke to John at the business and the following was relayed: The area could not be dug by hand as there were 2 huge trees back there. An escavator was needed. The consumer has been told by the real estate agent that there was no previous drainage issues but as I explained to the consumer, the fact that there was bowing in the walls is due to a pre-existing water problem. Regarding the pipe, I told the consumer that I needed 7 yards of dirt. She provided 4, which I put down and spread out evenly but was not enough. The roof was not breached. The metal that was hit was fixed months ago. The consumer did not provide me with cash, she paid the $8,000 in checks. The contract was fulfilled with the exception of the carpentry work which the consumer did not provide the materials needed or get the proper permits needed. We received no payment for that and have not attempted to collect that $1,000. The consumer needs a drainage system in her garage.
