Shoe Doctor of Roanoke

The owner of Shoe Doctor, [redacted], is one of the most dedicated, proactive business owners I have used in a long time. He does everything in his power to find a solution to the problem.In my case he went over and beyond to try to repair the closure on a pocketbook. Kudos to a business that wants to complete a job the right way. I wish you had a Blacksburg / Christiansburg location. Thank you Shoe Doctor and [redacted].

Review: Last year I called this shoe repair person, The Shoe Doctor he calls himself, to discuss the repair of some summer shoes that needed some simple stitching of less than 2 inches. We made an agreement that I would mail the shoes to him and pick them up later. Although he had plenty of time to do the repairs and said the shoes were ready when I called, they were not. We had agreed that he would stitch the place that had come apart and do the same as a preventive measure on the other shoe as well.

Being a trusting person, I did not even examine the work when he handed the shoes over in a bag. I just paid him and completed my 100 mile round trip back home, put the shoes away until the other day when I put them on and immediately found that they had not been repaired properly, nor had the other shoe been stitched as we had discussed. I called him this morning, but his excuse was "That was a long time ago." The shoes have been in a bag in my closet, stored properly until the weather was appropriate for them. These were not cheap shoes; at least I don't consider $79 cheap for a pair of light summer shoes.

I spent about $7 to mail them, paid him about $6 which was quite reasonable considering the utter simplicity of the needed repair, and then there was the 100 mile round trip and the time involved.

I don't really care about a person's political affiliation, but in this man's case, it is obvious that if he spent less time raving about being a republican and more time focused on his work, I would not be making this complaint.Desired Settlement: I want no more dealings with this business. I would like a check for $25 to cover my expenses and time. I do not think this is an unreasonable request.

I have reviewed the response made by the business in reference to complaint ID [redacted], and find that this resolution would be satisfactory to me. I now consider this complaint resolved. The business owner called to ask if this amount was sufficient and called again to assure I had received the check. I didn't appreciate him calling me "honey" and wish he had simply repaired the shoes in the first place, but am wiser now and satisfied with his cooperation and your assistance.Thank you very much.
