Revdex.com: I have reviewed the response made by the business in reference to complaint ID [redacted] , and have determined that this does not resolve my complaint For your reference, details of the offer I reviewed appear below October 1, 2017Revdex.comHoliday Drive, Suite .Pittsburgh, PA 15220To the Revdex.com,I received your letter and the Shoop's Awning rebuttal on September 27,I am rejecting the company's response due to incorrect informationWe hired Shoop's Awning on April 13, to make a replacement awning that would fit on my existing frameWe agreed upon the price of $2,When I asked about a deposit, I was told I could pay whatever amount I wantedTherefore,! paid $on April 17thWith that deposit, they promised that the awning would be completed by May 19th because of my daughter's communion on May 21stThey had requested to use my existing awning as a template and guide so they came and picked it up.On Monday, May 15th they had the awning completed and delivered itHowever, when they started to install it, they discovered that the awning was sewn upside down and did not fit(The right side was sewn on the left; and the left side was sewn on the right.) My parents were there for the installation and the employees of Shoop's (the daughter and a gentlemen) determined that the awning could not be repaired and it had to be remadeThey told us they would make a replacement awning immediately to uphold their promise that it would be completed by May 19th for the party. On Friday, May 19th they returned with a second awning and my Father was there to observe the installationThe first problem discovered was that the tie downs in the awning were not aligned with the dimensions of the existing frameSubsequently, they started altering my frame to try to match the awning and CUT one of my metal bars in order to make it fitWith little success, less than half of the bars were matched to the awningThey discussed with my father, who was there the whole time, the issues that the new awning hadFor example, the corners did not fit (one was too short and one was too long), the stripes were cockeyed and the front panel was crocked because of the way it was sewnAlso, the awning was short fitting on the frame on the house, and many of the Velcro connections did not match and were not connected at allAt this time, the awning was half secured to the bars and my father and the Shoop's employees agreed that it needed repaired and they would take care of it after the partyMy father had let them know I was getting a new roof on my house within the next couple of weeks and they agreed they would pick it up at that time to repair it.Therefore, a few weeks later I contacted them to come and pick up the awning and make the necessary repairsAlso, at that time I requested that they return my old awningMy father and I met with the daughter and gentlemen that came to pick it upWe reviewed with them all the faults and imperfections with the awning including a small tear in the one side as well as our concerns that once they moved the Velcro hold downs that were sewn in the wrong positions, there would be holes in the fabricAlso, since they altered the symmetrical bars of my existing frame how was that going to be addressed and put back to the original positions after cutting the one barI addressed my concerns with getting another new awning or our money backTherefore, they left with the awning and said shewould get back to me within the next week and there would possibly be someone coming out to re-measure the frameI anticipated that we would be in touch with what our resolution would be.After not hearing from them the next few weeks, I made numerous attempts to contact them by calling and leaving messages, and stopped by multiple times and no one was thereI assumed it was possible they went out of businessAs I continued my mission to get some type of answer to resolve this issue, at the end of August (they picked up the awning in June) I spoke to the ownerHe said that he thought it was being taken care of and that they were not in the office and he would have someone get in touch with meI have still to this day, October 1, 2017, have had no employee get back to meDue to the lack of response we left a message that we wanted our deposit backIn conclusion, I was very disappointed that once the awning was picked up in the middle of June, I have never been contacted by Shoop's Awning in order to resolve the issueTherefore, we contacted the Revdex.com in order to get our money backThank you for your attention to this matter.Sincerely, [redacted]

Revdex.com,It would have made a diffrence if Mrand Mrs [redacted] would have contacted us about there concerns about their awning they choose to wait over a monthIn which they never said anything to us pryer to us arriving that things were wrongIn their eyes the work was wrong but in all honestly we had known we had to fix one issue that was our mistakeThat one issue was the only one to be resovled when taken back downYes by contacting us pryer to us arriving we could have someone handle the issues thenBut the fact that they kept the awning up for over a month and had nothing to say about it, but was okay to use it for over a monthWhy would someone who saying that they had all these problems and having water coming in why wouldn't someone call and make us aware of what was wrong instead they waited till they needed it down to inform us of all the complaintsWe could see if it was or things but 12-would throw up a red flag and say "hey I need to contact them prior to them getting this awning down there's just something not right with it" but no they choice to wait until it was convenient for them to have it up for over a month and then tell us about all the complaints they have.Regarding the bar that was cut, The frame doesn't have to be repaired from what was done to itSo that is a lie no awning company will tell you that the frame does need fixedThe whole reason we had to return their old awning was so that they can put the old one back up this is what Mrs [redacted] saidSo for them to say they have NO awning they have their old one they could have put up like she said they would. And again and the fact that we can not satisfy Mr& Mrs [redacted] to their expectations we will only be sending out half of the payment they had made us (original check amonut $459.00) half of that would be $They other half will be kept for our company Shoop's Awnings for labor, material and services that we had done, plus like we said it was up for over a month was used by them and no longer can be used for anything.Sincerely, Shoop's Awnings

Dear Revdex.com,We are Responding back to complaint ID # [redacted] The Customer stated to you guys about wanting there to be black zip ties around her bubble our company has never used any other color in any work but the clear natural which is a stronger hold of zip tieIf the customer is willing to pay for the Black zip ties and is also knowing that they will break a lot faster then the ones we provideAlso she is complaining about White Caulking around bubble that caulking was put there by her father back in when the original bubble was made for himWe don't caulk with white, again we only use clear caulkingWe don't remove something that the owner has placed there If she wanted again and the color she is asking for she would have to pay for the serviceCurrently if you look at the google maps and look at the house with the previece color of awning on the house that her father and mother had picked you can see the caulking that was pieced there by her father.Harry S [redacted] Owner

Dear Revdex.com,Mrand Mrs*** and Father Had hired us to re-make an awning for them on 04/13/2017.Which then the process was taken place buy sending them out a contract saying that the Awning would be 2,+ Tax which would equal $2,459.20.A Deposit and signed contract was sent to us and
recieved for $on 04/19/In which we then were also told that we needed to have the awning up and made before may 15th due to a communion partyWe also were asked to please come get the other awning that was left at their houseSo we did send people over and pick up the awning so that we can start on remaking the awning in a whole new color but to be the same as that one. When we hung up the awning we were told it looked good and the Father/Father in law said that we would have to come take it back down in month or so do to they were going to have a new roof put on their houseWe said okay and that we would do that for them but to please give us at least a couple days notice so that we can schedule our crews to do soAt that time we had addressed something that was missed by us and taht we would take care of it for them when they called us to have it taken down.On June 19, after having it being up over a month with no calls or complaints we arrive to find out she and her father have a list of complaints about itOur crew then as the complaints with them and did then remove the awningAfter bringing it back to the Business almost everything they had complained about was such minor things some in which cannot be fixed cause they were to minor or some are what she thinks was bad and in which they are things done to an awning to make an awning. After it being up for over a month with NO complaints besides the one thing we said that we would take care of when we take it back downWith it being said we would be losing out on the material and work of all employees that took part in this awning if we were to refund them their depositThe material is no longer any good since it was hung up outside with diffrent weather elementsThey had no problem with it for there party so there for they were able to use it for the party and for a month after that, therefore we should not have to refund them their money cause it would have been just like renting a tent and paying for it to be put up and taken down.Sincerly,Shoop's Awnings

Revdex.com:
I have reviewed the response made by the business in reference to complaint ID [redacted], and have determined that this does not resolve my complaint.  For your reference, details of the offer I reviewed appear below.
October 1, 2017Revdex.com400 Holiday Drive, Suite 220 .Pittsburgh, PA 15220To the Revdex.com,I received your letter and the Shoop's Awning rebuttal on September 27,2017. I am rejecting the company's response due to incorrect information. We hired Shoop's Awning on April 13, 2017 to make a replacement awning that would fit on my existing frame. We agreed upon the price of $2,459.20. When I asked about a deposit, I was told I could pay whatever amount I wanted. Therefore,! paid $459.20 on April 17th. With that deposit, they promised that the awning would be completed by May 19th because of my daughter's communion on May 21st. They had requested to use my existing awning as a template and guide so they came and picked it up.On Monday, May 15th they had the awning completed and delivered it. However, when they started to install it, they discovered that the awning was sewn upside down and did not fit. (The right side was sewn on the left; and the left side was sewn on the right.) My parents were there for the installation and the employees of Shoop's (the daughter and a gentlemen) determined that the awning could not be repaired and it had to be remade. They told us they would make a replacement awning immediately to uphold their promise that it would be completed by May 19th for the party. On Friday, May 19th they returned with a second awning and my Father was there to observe the installation. The first problem discovered was that the tie downs in the awning were not aligned with the dimensions of the existing frame. Subsequently, they started altering my frame to try to match the awning and CUT one of my metal bars in order to make it fit. With little success, less than half of the bars were matched to the awning. They discussed with my father, who was there the whole time, the issues that the new awning had. For example, the corners did not fit (one was too short and one was too long), the stripes were cockeyed and the front panel was crocked because of the way it was sewn. Also, the awning was short fitting on the frame on the house, and many of the Velcro connections did not match and were not connected at all. At this time, the awning was half secured to the bars and my father and the Shoop's employees agreed that it needed repaired and they would take care of it after the party. My father had let them know I was getting a new roof on my house within the next couple of weeks and they agreed they would pick it up at that time to repair it.Therefore, a few weeks later I contacted them to come and pick up the awning and make the necessary repairs. Also, at that time I requested that they return my old awning. My father and I met with the daughter and gentlemen that came to pick it up. We reviewed with them all the faults and imperfections with the awning including a small tear in the one side as well as our concerns that once they moved the Velcro hold downs that were sewn in the wrong positions, there would be holes in the fabric. Also, since they altered the symmetrical bars of my existing frame how was that going to be addressed and put back to the original positions after cutting the one bar. I addressed my concerns with getting another new awning or our money back. Therefore, they left with the awning and said shewould get back to me within the next week and there would possibly be someone coming out to re-measure the frame. I anticipated that we would be in touch with what our resolution would be.After not hearing from them the next few weeks, I made numerous attempts to contact them by calling and leaving messages, and stopped by multiple times and no one was there. I assumed it was possible they went out of business. As I continued my mission to get some type of answer to resolve this issue, at the end of August (they picked up the awning in June) I spoke to the owner. He said that he thought it was being taken care of and that they were not in the office and he would have someone get in touch with me. I have still to this day, October 1, 2017, have had no employee get back to me. Due to the lack of response we left a message that we wanted our deposit back. In conclusion, I was very disappointed that once the awning was picked up in the middle of June, I have never been contacted by Shoop's Awning in order to resolve the issue. Therefore, we contacted the Revdex.com in order to get our money back. Thank you for your attention to this matter.Sincerely,[redacted]

Revdex.com,We have again looked at all of Mr.& Mrs. orginal complaints and newcomplaints. After bringing it back to the Business almost everything they had complained about was such minor things some in which cannot be fixed cause they were to minor or some are what they think was bad and in which they are normal things done to an awning to make an awning. The reinforcement patches in front are to be in front corners for extra support where there are elbows, if they wouldn't be there. The awning corners are more easier to blow out and rip. They are talking about how all the stripes don't line up. The furthest one away was not even 2cm off and anyone that sews know that can happen in which if they are wanting that fixed it would have to be all taken apart and would need new material for it in which would be at their expense. We again couldn't guaranty it to be dead on again. Where they are saying it is leaking thru the seems it has a double stitching and the double stitching is fully in contact. It may have just been dew or rain that ran down the bars, Dew does sit on metal and will drip as it gets warmer. Where they are saying there is a gap between bars we had made that clear when we hung it that we would take care of it we had seen that our crew had missed putting in a rafter runner for that bar. Where the bracket was upside down was going to fixed by us at no charge. Also where they are saying that the canvas is cut by a white patch is that is false the Whit patch is sewn on to every job it is our label that is placed on any awning made in this shop. The white label also has their name on it also, cause we do store awnings every year. If the customer wishes to not have it in there now they would have to pay for a new side to be sewn in which that side would take 7 yards. On May 15th we did install the awning and had noticed that we had sewn the awning upside down and our guys (not the owners daughter, she wasn't there for this installment) would take it back and get a whole new awning for them. In which we had done so we have records to prove that we had to order the same yards from our supplier and that we would even would make a special trip to Cleveland to retrieve it so that we could up hold our agreement that we would have it back to them before their daughters communion. The Mother/ Mother in-Law is they only one we have seen come to our business and that was not till after the reports have been filed with Revdex.com. Where she then kept trying to get all info from us. As it seemed the The     didn't have all facts correctin which from looking at both Revdex.com reports sent to us their complaints have changed, dates have changed, how much the awning cost was changed, Seems as they didn't have all the facts until we had wrote back to Revdex.com or until the Mother In-Law came in and had asked for details regarding the awning. Mrs.    never had asked for a refund we have it in writting from her that they wanted a discount. We do have all pictures of the awning as it was still hung on their house. Also have all paper work Contract Mrs.    signed, the paper that she wrote us with her complaints and her asking for a discount, if you are in need of these we would gladly send you a copy for your records also.Sincerley,Shoop's Awnings ID#[redacted]

October 15, 2017Revdex.com400 Holiday Drive, Suite 220Pittsburgh, PA 15220To Whom It May Concern,My husband and I again reviewed the response from Shoop's Canvas Awning. I am disappointed by the fact that once they picked the second awning up, the second week of June, we have NEVER been contacted by the company again and it is October. Is good customer service having to guess what is going to happen with it for months? It is not okay that they did not provide a service or gave us any kind of contact, and they just decided they were entitled to keep our money. To reiterate how we got to this point, when the daughter and the gentlemen with her picked up the second awning she said that someone would be in touch with us within the week. I had expressed to the daughter that my husband wanted us to get our money back, or is there a discount, or are we getting another brand new awning. Whether or not they felt the situations with the awning were minor, however it was leaking through the seam especially the day of my daughter's party when everyone was sitting under it, and we could provide many names that witnessed it. At that point we were truly concerned that the awning had to be altered again. Shoops was going to have to move the panels to the correct spots which would leave holes where the old ones were stitched. I realize we are not awning experts but the daughter did not say much as to what could be done. She was nicely taking our concerns and writing them down. Also, the piece I was referring to that was cut, was by the white patch, it was not the white patch itself. I showed it to the daughter and she was unsure why it was cut there. My impression when she left was that she needed to take our complaints back to the business and discuss it with her parents. However, she did say that someone would have to come and re-measure because they cut our one pole and moved many of the others in order to fit the incorrect awning. As I stated earlier, we were NEVER contacted again. My husband and I then left many messages, the first ones just needing someone to get in touch with us, and the numerous ones after that stating we wanted our money back. There were also many times we called but were unable to leave a message because their voicemail box was full and would not accept any more messages. Finally, as I kept calling, I spoke to the owner at the end of August and I said that we wanted our money back. His reply was that he thought it was being taken care of and someone would get back to us. That gave me the impression they were refunding our deposit and they were getting our messages. Once again, I NEVER heard back from anyone. In addition to the numerous phone calls throughout the entire summer, I also stopped at the business multiple times within June and July while my mother was with me but unfortunately no one was at the business. That is when we started to get concerned that they maybe went out of business. My mother recently went to the dentist which is next door to Shoops and saw that someone was there. She innocently stopped to see if she could pick up our deposit, my parents have been very involved in this awning process. My mother was unaware that we had gone to the Revdex.com. My mother did not get any information so it is irrelevant that she stopped.Paying $2,459.20 is a lot of money for an item not to be correct, for a customer to be satisfied with it being sort of okay, and for us having to accommodate a schedule of multiple months to get completed correctly. This situation has taken many hours and stress in order to get resolved. If they would have just communicated with us versus just thinking they do not agree with our concerns so they can keep our deposit and never talk to us again. Who does business like that? Why wouldn't we want our money back we are entitled to it.Sincerely,[redacted]

Revdex.com:
I have reviewed the response made by the business in reference to complaint ID [redacted], and this resolution is satisfactory to me. In saying that, this entire process between Shoops Awnings and our family has been unfortunate and one that we regret. It has caused our family inconvenience, stress, and an overall distrust in this business’s ability to fulfill their agreement. After reviewing other customer’s experience on the Revdex.com website, it is obvious why Shoop’s has been issued a C+ rating.

Revdex.com:
I have reviewed the response made by the business in reference to complaint ID [redacted], and have determined that this does not resolve my complaint.  For your reference, details of the offer I reviewed appear below.
November 4, 2017Dear Revdex.com,We would like to write this final letter in order to reiterate the facts. It was the agreement with Shoop's that they would fix the problems with the awning whiie the new roof was being installed on our house. It would not have made a difference if we had called any earlier to inform them what was wrong with the awning; the fact is that the work was WRONG again. When we reviewed what was wrong with the awning when they picked it up, they did not give us any feedback as to what could be done with the problems that we listed at that time. She (Shoop's employee) said someone would be in touch probably within the week. We never heard from them again. It is not okay as a business when you have a customer agreement for a service, to just feel entitled to keep a person's money and never communicate to them again. That was the middle of June and it is now November. We are entitled to all of the money back for two specific reasons. First, as we explained in the previous letter, Shoops cut one of the bars on our existing frame to fit the awning they created. The reason they had to cut the frame was because their measurements were wrong and this was their way of solving their mistake. As a result, we now have to have our awning frame repaired. Finally, it is now November and we still do not have an awning. This entire process had been unfortunate and one that we regret. It has caused our family inconvenience, stress, and an overall distrust in this business's ability to fulfill their agreement. After reviewing other customer's experience on the Revdex.com website, it is obvious why Shoop's has been issued a C+ rating.Sincerely,[redacted]

Revdex.com,We have again looked at all of Mr.& Mrs. letter's they have sent youguy's and again we had not heard from them thee intire month it was kept up until June 19, 2017 after having it being up over a month with no calls or complaints we arrive to find out she and her father have a list of complaints about it, that should have been addressed to us prior to needing it down cause they were having a roof put on. Why would someone who saying that they had all these problems and having water coming in why wouldn't someone call and make us aware of what was wrong instead they waited till they needed it down to inform us of all the complaints. We could see if it was 1 or 2 things but 12-13 would throw up a red flag and say "hey I need to contact them prior to them getting this awning down there’s just something not right with it" but no they choice to wait until it was convenient for them to have it up for over a month and then tell us about all the complaints they have. We have never had a customer do that in all 46 years of our service. The Customer Mr & Mrs [redacted] do to all of the complaints they have had and have we are unable to service these complaints in which they have. Do to the fact alot of them are normal things done to an awning and the fact that we can not satisfy Mr. & Mrs. [redacted] to their expectations we will only be sending out half of the payment they had made us (original check amonut $459.00) half of that would be $229.50. They other half will be kept for our company Shoop's Awnings for labor, material and services that we had done, plus like we said it was up for over a month was used by them and no longer can be used for anything.Sincerely, Shoop's Awnings

Revdex.com,It would have made a diffrence if Mr. and Mrs. [redacted] would have contacted us about there concerns about their awning they choose to wait over a month. In which they never said anything to us pryer to us arriving that things were wrong. In their eyes the work was wrong but in all honestly we had known we had to fix one issue that was our mistake. That one issue was the only one to be resovled when taken back down. Yes by contacting us pryer to us arriving we could have someone handle the issues then. But the fact that they kept the awning up for over a month and had nothing to say about it, but was okay to use it for over a month. Why would someone who saying that they had all these problems and having water coming in why wouldn't someone call and make us aware of what was wrong instead they waited till they needed it down to inform us of all the complaints. We could see if it was 1 or 2 things but 12-13 would throw up a red flag and say "hey I need to contact them prior to them getting this awning down there's just something not right with it" but no they choice to wait until it was convenient for them to have it up for over a month and then tell us about all the complaints they have.Regarding the bar that was cut, The frame doesn't have to be repaired from what was done to it. So that is a lie no awning company will tell you that the frame does need fixed. The whole reason we had to return their old awning was so that they can put the old one back up this is what Mrs. [redacted] said. So for them to say they have NO awning they have their old one they could have put up like she said they would. And again and the fact that we can not satisfy Mr.

Dear Revdex.com,We are Responding back to complaint ID #[redacted]. The Customer stated to you guys about wanting there to be black zip ties around her bubble our company has never used any other color in any work but the clear natural which is a stronger hold of zip tie. If the customer is willing to pay...

for the Black zip ties and is also knowing that they will break a lot faster then the ones we provide. Also she is complaining about White Caulking around bubble that caulking was put there by her father back in 1989 when the original bubble was made for him. We don't caulk with white, again we only use clear caulking. We don't remove something that the owner has placed there . If she wanted again and the color she is asking for she would have to pay for the service. Currently if you look at the google maps and look at the house with the previece color of awning on the house that her father and mother had picked you can see the caulking that was pieced there by her father.Harry S[redacted] Owner

Review: Contract is for a black canvas bubble awning for the front porch. $500.00 check written June 17,2016, awning was installed while I was at work. Check was cashed. White caulking noted around bubble, very noticeable. House is redwood brick color. Awning was attached to the bubble hardware with white zip ties, they make black ones. Numerous calls were made to the business, I did speak one time to a person and she told me the person that does installation is out in the field. "He'll get back to me", the person did not call me. When I do call, the phone is not answered, I was able to leave a voice mail once, twice call was ended, and sometimes the voice mail says, memory is full. The business has not called me back. I received a bill for $205.13 for the remainder on 6/23/16. I have not paid the remainder of the bill. Is there anything that can be done for the poor hanging of this bubble? Thank you.Desired Settlement: I would like the white caulking removed from the bricks around the bubble and white zip ties replaced with black ones.

Review: I bought this awning in 2010. Remote controlled. It worked until Spring of 2013. I stopped to see them and they did come up to see it and said it works. I was working and come home not working. I went to see him again and they said battery was bad so they got me battery which they claim they had to send for a battery. It took three (3) weeks to get it and I had to pick up battery at the store. Cost $25.00 For battery. Took it home and still did not work. This continued all of 2013 and 2014. I asked what guarantee do I have on this product. No answer. I told them to give me number of the company who made this motor and they said they would call. I have stopped to see them so many times and they seem like they could care less.Desired Settlement: I would like my awning to work. My husband died in August 21 st of 2012. I have no one to help with this problem. I paid $4'000 for awning. I even called another awning service and they cannot work on this motor paid $100. I am so upset over this matter.

Review: I have been trying to have someone form Shoop's come out to fix my broken awning that was installed by them over a year ago. I have made at least 10 phone calls, and each time am told someone will be out that week.. No one has ever showed! I just want them to acknowledge my situation...the awning is currently lying useless in my garage.Desired Settlement: Would just like someone to come and repair the awning.

Absolutely awesome company. They take great pride in their work. After dealing with another awning company for years decided to give shoops a try. They are extremely knowledgeable understanding and friendly. I would recommend their work to anyone.
