Shop at Home Foods Reviews (2)

Sold a freezer and water filter, where future food orders guaranteed 50% off food for life. Not so!Salesman touting about the service and stresses how much food costs and how this service will save money. "Buy a freezer and water filter, you will save 50% off our prices for life". Said freezer was an energy star rated freezer, freezer comes, not energy star rated. Start unpacking food, I never realized you could by such small containers of food. Food did not last 6 months. Time for second order, same list now wants almost triple the monthly payment for food. Wont disclose how much items cost, but can add it all up in front of me.Spent 1400.00 on the second order, which should be equivalent to 2800.00 in food. Shows up with a hand truck, all food purchased fit on this 2 wheeler laid down, About what would fit in a carriage from the store. Seller calls up and I ask him to itemize everything before my next order, gives me a hard time noting that the more you buy the cheaper we are. Wanted to charge me over 5000.00 on the order that I reduced to 1400.00 and what I got I feel should not have cost more then 500.00. I feel that this business performs a bait and switch tactic with customers. I paid nearly double for the freezer and bought a whole house water filter (that still in the box unused) thinking I was going to save money on future food oders with this company. I can do so much better with Omaha steaks. Desired SettlementWould like items that were purchased itemized and refunded money for what I am being over charged for "fair market value for items" What I paid for and what I got @ 50% was 3 times the value of the product. Not happy about a freezer that I was told was a energy star rated appliance, not happy with the water filter that I only bought to ensure a good discount. These 2 items are costing me over 12.000.00 with interest at the end of the loan.I could not have received their discount without buying these products from them. I could have had a nice Kenmore freezer for between 1.000 and 1500. And I wouldn't have to buy Sears over priced food to keep a warenty. I feel so taken by this company. I hope others do not fall prey to their false prBusiness' Initial Response On February 25-2012 customer entered into a signed contract agreement with shop at home food service the terms were outlined in a contract for a UL 21 cubic ft freezer that came with a warranty for 100% coverage on parts & labor 100% replacement and food spoilage protection which is the with the warranty customer signed. The customer received a 20% discount on the order, The customer had inquired about our water system which also get an additional discount 30% for a grand total of 50%, the customer agreed to purchase these products. Our freezer paper work says nothing about energy star on it however, this product cost about 55.00 dollars per year to run which is about 4.16 per month which converts to 1.04 per week. Our Water system are a commercial grade units also these products where purchased for a total of 5698.00 with interest however, the customer had time to review the contract as buy law and he excepted delivery. The customer was called to set up new appointment and decided to put a second food order with us. Again he signed a contract and also had time to review it. He excepted delivery again. In an effort to help customer, shop at home has been in business since 1999 helping family to save them waste, bringing the higher quality food delivered to there home, We will offer customer the following a 300.00 credit to go towards the water system so the customer can have a license plumber install it,a 300.00 credit towards his last food order, customer has to know that we are a delivery service and that all our meat are higher quality and these product are delivery packed away and guaranteed. Our product last a lot longer than grocery meats and are vacuum sealed for freshness.thankyou shop at home food service[redacted]Consumer's Final Response (The consumer indicated he/she DID NOT accept the response from the business.)I do not accept this as resolution. Offer of credit I am sure would be towards another highly overpriced order. No Thanks. I am simply asking for my order to be itemized and refunded what I was over charged for. The Freezer is not commercial grade appliance just because it bear a label saying so.I am still not happy that [redacted] said it was an energy star rated freezer and it was not. I did not ask about this water filter, It was suggested inplace of buy bottled water, and [redacted] pushed the point I would save more on food from Shop at home if I bought it. When I looked at the picture of the freezer, I asked [redacted] if it was an energy star rated appliance. He said it was. I was lied to. I paid 1440.00 for my last food order which did not equate into a lot of food. Nor was it six months of food that [redacted] labeled the order with. Why is it that [redacted] can sit and add up the whole order but cannot tell the price of anything. My last food order should have been 2880.00 worth of food where I am guaranteed 50% off food for life for buying your over priced freezer and water filter. And it was the only reason that I bought your overpriced junk. I would rather get my money back for the water filter and the freezer. I don't think you would ever take your goods back. Water filter is still new in box. When I signed up for your service, I was expecting to save money as your salesman kept on saying. He emphasized how you purchase in bulk to keep the prices low. I felt that I was going to be saving money. But after seeing what came to my door, I felt even at 1440.00 I was getting ripped off. Why are you not willing to break down the order and let me know what I Business' Final Response As on our last response shop at home food did not offer a credit towards another order, what we offered is a check for 300.00 plus a check for 300.00 so that the customer can have his water system installed for a total of 600.00 We will up our offer to 900.00 as a FINAL RESOLUTION 600.00 for his food 300.00 for the water system installed by a license plumber. We do not pick up appliance once they have been delivered. We believe that this is a good faith offer to resolve this situation. As mention in our last response we are a delivery company providing high quality foods vacuum sealed meat and groceries our meat are not compared to the grocery store. A certified check will be mail at the acceptance of this resolution thank you
