Shoreline Auto Sales has no further response to this complaint

On June 20, *** *** purchased a *** Grand Cherokee All cars sold at Shoreline Auto Sales are sold
“As-Is,”
with no warranty from the state or the dealershipDespite this, Shoreline Auto Sales purchases an extended engine & powertrain warranty four our customers from a
third party. All cars sold are safety-checked per CT law,
and are
legally safe for the roadOn the date of purchase, Mr*** signed
in no
less than (6) six locations that he understood the car was being sold
“As-Is.”
We allow our customers to take a vehicle they are interested in
purchasing for
an inspection at a mechanic of their choiceAny problems that Mr*** experienced
after the time of sale, though unfortunate, are not warrantied by
Shoreline
Auto Sales, and repairs must be paid forOne must be aware that both
major and
minor repairs are to be expected when purchasing a used vehicleMr*** has purchased vehicles from us before without issue, which is why we are surprised that he has chosen to 'resolve' this issue with a complaintThere is no "Lemon Law" in CT for used vehiclesMr***'s only recourse is to work with us to have any issues resolvedWe can only address the issues that present themselves while the vehicle is on our lotWe cannot predict the future, and cannot control what our customers do with the vehicle once they have left the lotIf Mr*** needed those issues addressed, he should have called us before paying another shop for repairsShoreline Auto Sales
has complied fully within the parameters of the law, and has no plans to
make
any refund of the purchase or repair costs to *** ***

Shoreline Auto Sales has no plans to reimburse *** *** for the repairs completed at another shop for the following reasons:-All cars are sold "As-Is" without a warranty from the dealership or state, according to state lawA warranty is purchased from a third party for the customerIt does not
cover fluid leaksAny issues with the vehicle are the customers responsibilityDespite this, Shoreline Auto Sales allowed Lynn to bring the vehicle back twice to be checked and repaired at no cost.-On the second appointment, Shoreline Auto Sales paid a mechanic overtime to come in for the day on Saturday to accommodate Lynne's scheduleWe do not perform service on SaturdayWe attempted to fix the issue Lynn requested, and told Lynn that we would call her when it was completeWe would even deliver the vehicle to her home if neededLynn showed up without being called to collect the vehicle as the mechanics were completing the jobThey were not given time to inspect their work or test to be sure that the vehicle was no longer leaking.-Shoreline Auto made several attempts to reach out to Lynn and discuss a list of repairs she presented us with from Jeep, but our calls went unanswered.-All customers have a right to have the vehicle inspected by a mechanic of their choiceA large sign is posted in the office informing customers of this rightIt is also clearly stated on the paperwork that *** *** signed

Complaint: ***
I am rejecting this response because:
Sincerely,
*** ***

Shoreline Auto Sales has made more than a reasonable effort to resolve this complaint on an "As-Is" vehicle, where we are not obligated to provide any assistance whatsoeverWe have no plans to refund the customer for work completed at another shop

Bottom line, car was fixed and picked up yesterdayIt is running better than when we bought itOur out of pocket expense was $2,Attached is the final bill along with repair orders
I am not going back and forth regarding this issueI was hoping that we could be adults and come to a resolutionAgain, if we knew about the offer to repair the car for $we would have done thatNo one wants to be out $2,when they can easily pay $
In response to what Alison saidEric, Chris I can not remember his nameWe mostly dealt with AlisonYes we were rude to her, we are upset and do not have the extra moneyIt is a struggle daily to pay our billsThe Revdex.com rating I looked online at the Revdex.com website and that exact wording is "Shoreline Auto Sales & Repair, Accredited NO." The *** reviews, look on *** and you can see reviews from "one year ago, from months ago, from a week ago and from years ago." The review that I posted on *** is fact-hurtful I am sure but this is business and not personal
At this point what can Revdex.com do? What is the next step that does not involve back and forth banterI am looking to get 1/of this refunded if not allPlease advise as to my next step

I’m sorry that [redacted] is having trouble with her [redacted]. At Shoreline Auto Sales, we work very hard to select only the best vehicles to offer for sale, and we thoroughly inspect each one and perform any necessary service. There is absolutely no way to know that an engine light would come on 6 weeks...

after purchase. When I heard about the light, I offered to have our mechanics check out the problem and see what we could to do help. Chris (owner of Shoreline Auto) attends auctions to purchase inventory every Wednesday and Thursday, and is therefore unable to assist on those days. The codes present were for electronic transmission sensors and required more research to accurately diagnose. We are very busy with preparing cars for paying customers, and we were investigating the issue as a favor, at no charge. In order to keep the business running, free work comes last on the list, but is never ignored. There was no advance appointment made, I told them to bring it in when they could. [redacted] chose to come pick up the car rather than give us some adequate time to resolve the issue.  When she called to inform me about another shop’s diagnosis that the transmission needed to be replaced, I again offered our assistance. No, we will not pay $1,500 to have your vehicle repaired at another shop, that’s not how we (or anyone else) do business. The warranty has a limit of liability of $1,000, therefore it is in your best interest to perform the repairs at the shop which provided you with the best price. I offered to perform the work at Shoreline Auto Sales, promising that we would keep the out of pocket cost to you at only $100 for the deductible. That was my effort to “do the right thing” by compromising on the price of repairs to minimize your out-of-pocket expenses. She then responded that we were liars and she didn’t trust us, so she would not bring the car in. Instead she would rather pay someone else $3,000. We are a fully licensed Dealer & Repair facility, with 4 mechanics, who are fully capable of replacing a transmission. If you don’t trust them to do the work, you are more than welcome to take a day off work and come in and watch the mechanic complete the job. If you would like, we can even take the car back to your personal mechanic to have him sign off that the job was completed. All parts come from the same few places, no matter who orders them. Why not let us help and pay $100 for the warranty deductible? Even asking us to pay half for the job at another shop will still cost you $1,500. I am unable to understand the reasoning behind [redacted]'s decision to take the vehicle elsewhere.  At the present time, I have made 3 reasonable offers: to repair the vehicle for $100 and let the warranty cover the rest of our costs, to allow [redacted] to watch the job being performed if she feels that is necessary, and take it back to her own mechanic for approval. I cannot be more open, honest and transparent than that.  We work very hard to ensure that every customer is happy with their purchase, however we are not able to predict the future with any reasonable accuracy, nor are we a charity service. We are not able to provide a bumper-to bumper warranty on $5,000 vehicles that are over 10 years old. We do our best by purchasing an extended warranty for you. Because the vehicle is over 7 years old, it is sold “As-Is,” according to state law. You are responsible for the vehicle after purchase. We currently have an A+ Revdex.com rating, and this is the first complaint in 12 months, with over 500 vehicles being sold in that time. Knowing that a customer is not happy is upsetting to us and we make every effort to make them happy and earn their trust. I am completely open to continuing this discussion with you if you are willing to work together to come to a reasonable agreement. I am at the shop Monday-Saturday 9-5. ###-###-####.

Complaint: [redacted]
I am rejecting this response because: I firmly believe Shoreline Auto deceived me when he said he repaired the fluid leaks and I feel I should be compensated for at least half of the $1,100 I had to spend on repairs he promised to complete.
Sincerely,
[redacted]

Follow up response:-All cars at Shoreline Auto Sales are sold "As-Is" according to CT state law. A warranty is purchased from a third party as an additional coverage for the customer. All customers sign off on the "As-Is" condition multiple times on multiple forms.-Shoreline Auto Sales complies fully with all laws and guidelines governing our business.-Shoreline Auto Sales was not given adequate time to investigate and diagnose the issue. Upon driving the vehicle, it was shifting smoothly, but we needed more time to investigate the cause for the codes.-Shoreline Auto Sales has not and will not ever clear codes and pass the vehicle on to the customer. Clearing codes does nothing if the problem is not addressed. The codes will return almost immediately. We have no knowledge of any codes being present in the [redacted]. A check engine light cannot be cleared and then a vehicle can pass through emissions. If you have any further questions regarding the emissions testing system and the regulations and procedures behind it, please contact the state. -We do not have an employee named Eric.-A business can have a Revdex.com rating and not be accredited. Accreditation involves paying a fee. -This is the first negative review on [redacted] in 12 months. Check the dates.-[redacted] and [redacted] were offered the chance to have the vehicle repaired here. They declined because they didn't trust us. They proceeded to become angry and yell, as well as make threats to contact lawyers, the news, etc. I was hung up on by both [redacted] and [redacted] while trying to explain my solution to the problem. If they didn't hear me it was because they were talking over me, yelling, swearing, or had already hung up. -After writing these hateful and inaccurate reviews of our company, Shoreline Auto Sales has no plans to reimburse the [redacted]s, or repair their vehicle. -If you feel that any laws have been broken, please contact the [redacted], Department of [redacted], or your attorney.
