The fence that was installed is with rough cut lumber( same lumber used on all of our board fence)We have attempted two times from November 2015-December 2015, to meet with Mrs *** and handle her issues but both appointment Mrs *** did not keep the appointments. Both the

In response to complaint ID *** we feel we have gone above and beyond in meeting this customers expectations and requests, as well as going above and beyond what is expected of any business in correcting a situation such as this. In regards to the pickets being 5-6in off the ground,
we feel we did everything possible to resolve his issues. With building the type of fence the customer requested it is expected that there could be potential gaps in the fence due to the lay of the land. Now as a company we will not build a fence with gaps at the bottom of 5-6in but there may be some gaps that are 2-3in, small enough to where a dog of any breed should never get out of. The reason for the gaps at the bottom are due to the ground flowing unevenly or larger dips in the ground which the customer’s yard had both of. Now if you build a fence to correct for these gaps the fence would appear very choppy and look unprofessional so to have the fence flow properly you have to expect small gaps in some placesNow when the customer came in asking about longer pickets for these gaps he did not seem upset and he said he was going to replace them himself. We told him we didn’t have as many as he needed but we could get them for him. The ones he bought the day he came in we only charged him cost for the pickets, which were pickets, therefore making no money as a company on them. We ordered the rest of the pickets for him and while waiting on them he called asking how to fix the gate with the pickets. At this point we told him we would just send our crew back out and replace the pickets and redo the gate to his liking. Our crew took an additional pickets with them that the customer ordered which we did not charge him at all for and replaced the pickets and redid the gate. Shuck Fence had to pay the crew for the labor and we never charged the customer for this labor or the pickets. Once all of this was completed we sent the customer the bill based off the information for the footage supplied by our builder, who was shown by the customer where to put the fence, this is when the disagreement about the total footage came into play. The customer called saying he feels he should not pay the extra $for the additional footage because we measured only 260ft, although he was billed for 267ft. I proceeded to explain to him how our contracts work, which we had a signed copy of from him and he was informed of when we first met with him. I told him everything is +or-, which means if we build a little more fence the bill would be a little more, but if we build less he would be billed less. Once again the customer showed the builder where to put the fence. I told the customer when he was disagreeing I would go out and re-measure the fence we built to make sure and look at the gaps because he mentioned some still existed that were 5-6in wide. He also ordered more pickets on top of what we supplied him with already and we once again only charged him at cost again. I went out and measured the fence and it measured at 267ft and while out there I saw no gaps wider than 3in which would be due to the lay of the ground. At this time I called the customer and told him what I measured and we would be charging him for 267ft because that is how our contracts work that is signed, and he acknowledged he saw the +or- but he stated to me he still didn’t feel like he should have to pay it. This is when the conversation ended and we are here now. I still have 50 pickets that I am going to have to install myself, of which I have installed 25 previously for. Total of 75 that I have done the labor for.  75 pockets were a minimum of 5" gap under the pockets.  I had told them at the time the contract was being developed that needed these as close to the ground as possible, and that I would pay the difference for them to use the 6' pockets and have them cut to eliminate the gaps. If they would have done this correctly the first time, I would not have paid for 150 pockets total and had to repay for 150 more longer ones.  I feel that paying $4,000 for a fence and the customer having to replace the pockets is ridiculous.  All I am asking is for the $84 in question which is EXACTLY the same place as it was measured by Shuck.  If they will not take the $84 discrepancy off I feel that they should provide the labor to have these 50 pockets installed instead of the customer providing the labor, especially when I have bought the additional 150 pockets and had to destroy the original 150'tjat were installed incorrectly!

I have reviewed the response made by the business in reference to complaint ID [redacted], and have determined that this proposed action would not resolve my complaint.  For your reference, details of the offer I reviewed appear below.  I was homeI was home for our first appointment but the company did not make themselves known and I had 3 dogs at the time.   I called the company and told them that I was running late due to a lengthier than expected doctor's appointment.  I never heard from the company after that.  The issues yet to be addressed are the boards that are splitting as well as some of of posts and the nail pops and the mid-aligned gate.  The spin the company put on their answer to my  complaint is further evidence of their unwillingness to deal with the actual issues.
