Complaint1/(mid)/15: I contacted Mr. Greg Shuey (Shuey Builders, LLC) via an ad on [redacted] requesting an estimate on screening in our existing back deck, or replacing the deck structure with a new screened-in deck. 1/21/15: Mr. Shuey and I signed the contract and he collected $4250 (1/2 the total cost). He said he would be able to start within two weeks. 1/22/15: Mr. Shuey cashed check for $4250. After this, I attempted to contact Mr. Shuey multiple times about when we could expect to see him; response was always he was hoping to next week, and that he was still in process of getting a permit from the city and was running into a lot of difficulty trying to meet all the requirements. 3/17/15: Sent email to Mr. Shuey requesting status update; went unanswered. 3/21/15: Left voicemail requesting response; went unanswered. 3/23/15: Husband reached him with a different phone number he didn't recognize; Mr. Shuey said he is still having difficulty with the city getting the permit. He acknowledged that $4250 was "a lot of money" to have invested with nothing to show for it. Said he would put all the details of the conversation in an email to me that evening; email never received. 3/25/15: I contacted the city Permits & Building, they have never heard of Mr. Greg Shuey and he has not applied for a permit for our residence. They advised me to provide his contact information to them for their file and encouraged me to file a formal complaint with the Magistrate's Office. I intend to do that tomorrow morning.Product_Or_Service: Rebuild existing deck, with roof & screensDesired SettlementA full and immediate refund of my $4250. Two months have gone by since my check was cashed and absolutely NO work has been done. Not only has he avoided our emails and phone calls, but he clearly lied to us about having difficulty getting the permit, as they have no record of him contacting them at all.

Mr.[redacted] Shuey has done multiple repairs and or renovations at my Residence. ALWAYS an amazing job!
He is very meticulous and will consult you if he can save you money. He moved my laundry room upstairs and built an additional linen closet across from it. Looks like it has always been there. He painted all
Rooms and installed crown molding throughout my entire home. He installed recessed lighting in my kitchen. He also knows landscaping and helped me make some Decisions on my yard. He does wood working on the side and has built me a few items....kitchen island, book shelves and a Military Coin Case. This will be my go to contractor for all other renovations or repairs. By far one of the worst experiences I have ever had with a contractor. A two week project turned into two months! He had every excuse in the book why it wasn't done and kept making promise after promise only to deliver let down after let down. To make matter worse, he contracts the cheapest most unprofessional people in order to have the job done and then tries to blame them for sub par work. Save yourself the time, money, and frustration. Go with ANYONE else and pay the little extra - trust me, it isn't worth the headache. There are things that still haven't been finished with the house but I would rather do it myself than to deal with this man another day.","neg-1
