I had this company install shutters in the spring of 2019. In November, when I went to sell my home, the title company could not close on my home because they failed to file the permit. I have been trying to get them to do their job for well over a week now, calling daily just to get excuses from Rosette. Meanwhile I am losing thousands of dollars daily because I cannot complete my contract to move out of my home. I have failed a complaint with the county. DO NOT use these people, they are unprofessional and do NOT care about customer service. Last count, I have emailed and or spoken with them over 20 times with no results. Every day is another excuse, or they are waiting for a notary, or the worker to sign the permit form isn't in today. THis place is either incompetent or they just don't care

We have not received a refund of our deposit from this company. The refund was promised to us on June 10, 2019.
On May 6, 2019 we agreed to have work performed by this company at our residence. After much delay and missed appointments, I spoke with L on the date the work was scheduled to take place, June 10, 2019. I asked her if they could remove us from their schedule, cancel our agreement and refund the deposit we made with them on May 6, 2019. She said they would cancel the agreement and refund our deposit. She told me she would call when the check was in the mail. One week later, June 17, 2019, I contacted L again. She said she was waiting on K, the owner, to come in that day and approve the refund. Again, I was assured that the check would be mailed and she would contact me to let me know she had taken care of this matter. To the date of this complaint, we have not received a refund of our deposit, nor had any contact from the owner or anyone else representing Shutter King.

Desired Outcome

A full and complete refund of the deposit that was made with this company on May 6, 2019.

Customer Response • Jul 01, 2019

The company has responded both verbally and with a full refund.

Company is trying to charge me for no work ever being done. They couldn't quote what the job would cost then sent a bill that was never I wasn't told.
All started with a call I placed to Shutter Outlet. Woman answered and I inquired about removing some old hurricane shutters from the house I just bought and how the process goes. She said they would come out, look at the job and let me know after seeing it how much it would be. I've had many other trades do the same thing from gutters and plumbers to roofers and screen companies. They would all show up and let me know either exactly what they would do the job for or a quote with a small range of being a little more or less. This company showed up ready to work with tools in hand and start cranking. When I was told the workers were there to start I quickly said "not without letting me know what I can expect to pay" they told me they don't quote jobs so I was baffled and said then why are you here if you can't give me a sense of what this will cost in hours spent doing a job that you do every day? After a lot of words exchanged and me trying to have them understand what I expected after talking to their representative... they gave me an astronomical amount and said we promise it won't be more than that. Well I had had it with them and said if you can't give an acceptable time frame then no I don't want you to start work on my house and I will not work with a company that talks down to me and tries to make me feel stupid when I thought from their rep that I would receive a quote and then agee to do work for a set price or acceptable range. They then sent me a service bill which I never was told of and have spoken so rude and improper to me ever since. I have now read other reviews and see that every rating is as low as they come and not one person ever wrote a nice review. They're all horror stories.

Desired Outcome

I want confirmation that I will never hear from this company again and they have removed this bill from having anything to do with me or my property.

Shutter Outlet Response • Jul 18, 2019

Mr. account is entertaining but untrue.
Mr. contacted our service department in my office on 11/7/18 and scheduled an appointment for the removal of 4 hurricane shutters from his home that were to be left on his property for him to scrap. Having never seen his home, he was told an estimate of the cost but that the actual cost would be determined based on time spent plus a service call and he was given the cost of a service call as well as the hourly rate.
When the service team arrived at the appointed time Mr. was not on site but his father in law and daughter were there and advised the service team that they were to remove 9 shutters and they should get started.
The service team began the work and a short time later Mr. arrived. He was advised that the original quote was for removing 4 shutters and to remove 9 would of course take additional time and increase the estimated cost accordingly.
Mr. became belligerent, told the service team to stop work and leave, and he refused to pay anything.
Based on our documentation of the initial lengthy phone call to ask questions and set the appointment and the calls on the day of the appointment I don't see where we counld have handled the situation more professionally. It seems that Mr. was hoping to have work done for less then half of the cost and when he was caught he became combative.
Although I suspect this is a pattern for Mr. and it should be challenged, I have written off the charge to Mr. for the service call as a cost of doing business because, well, life is just too short for such inconsequential nonsense.

Whoever answered this complaint was severely misinformed. I never showed up that day, they never started the actual job, I was never quoted any pricing, I was told they would need to see the job before stating a price. The men who showed up specifically said to me over the phone that they don't quote prices they're workers. I would have never stayed 4 windows when I needed much more than that, they gave me a bogus number to try and appease me which was led with insulting comments, I got frustrated and said don't do any work and they were free to leave the property. I'm glad you feel like just because you write your fictitious version down you think it's believable. I have nothing to gain by filing this complaint. I'm not asking for money, just to be left alone. Why on earth would I waste my time lying? I'm glad you think this is a game and we can all create a timeline that makes us look professional and factual but this is a small town, I don't need a complaint on the Revdex.com to try and hurt your company, that's not my intention, besides people talk enough in small towns.

(The consumer indicated he/she ACCEPTED the response from the business.)
Owner stated that the balance they we're trying to collect has been waived so no need for any further correspondence. I'll save this for my records and thank you

Shutter Outlet Response • Jul 22, 2019

If I'm reading this correctly, Mr. claims that all of our contact notes were fabricated after the fact, he was never given an estimate to perform the work he requested, he expected workers to come to his home free of charge and the quantity of shutters he was requesting to have removed was offered by us without ever seeing his home.
Seems like a bit more then miscommunication.
I am sorry that Mr. feels that I think this is a game, I can assure him that I do not.
I do not like any unhappy customers.
I have spent many years building a company that has a great reputation that I can be proud of.
Shutter Outlet is one of the oldest hurricane shutter companies in Florida and we work all over the Southeast United States.
Most of the Evacuation Shelters in Central Florida have been protected by us as well as Brevard County's Firehouses, Red Cross Building, and various police stations and government buildings throughout the southeast.
Mr. asked for his balance to be waived and that has been done. If he feels that he is being unfairly portrayed I would be happy to have him come to my office and we can discuss it further.

Company gives me install info/follow up info that does not occur. Installer admitts install done incorrectly. Repair date set. No one shows up.
I contacted Shutter Outlet by phone to get an esimate for hurricane shutters. They sent their salesman Bob P out on 9/13/2018. I contracted them to install 10 hurricane panels across the front bay window of our home. I was told the company would call me and set an install date. It would be about 9 to 10 weeks out. I called in Nov and spoke to Rosetta. I was told the engineer had the contract and would call for scheduling. I heard nothing. I called again. Rosetta told me she would call me back. I heard nothing. I called again. I finally got a call for installation to be in Dec. I said make it after Christmas. Install was set for Jan 2, 2019. The order was for 10 panels to cover the front bay window. The installers only had 6 panels. They drilled the holes and inserted the bolts for all the panels without have all the panels. They never checked to see if the panels fit. They said the missing panels would be deliver the next day. They weren't delivered. No one called me, so I called Shutter Outlet again and spoke to Rosetta she said they would be delivered the next day. They left them at our front door. Second Problem. I called and ask when the building inspector would be out. I was told he would be out the next day. I waited a week. The inspector never came out. I then called the building department and they told me that Shutter Outlet never set up an appointment for an inspection. I set the appointment myself with the building department for inspection. The inspector came out as scheduled. He ask me if the installers checked to see if the panels fit. I told him no. He said I should check and see if they all fit. I did and only the first panel fit. Problem Three: I called Shutter Outlet again Rosetta told me they were working on another job and they would get out as soon as they could. She would not give me a date. I waited a few more days and called them again. She tried to give me the same excuse. I pressed for a date for the installer to come back out. She called and told me when the installers would be out. Installer came out and checked the panels. He apologized and said the support studs for the panels would need to be taken out and hew ones put in because they did not line up with the hole in the panels. He said the error occurred because they did not have all the panels during the original install. That was last Friday. (2-8-2019) He called the office while he was here at our house and schedules an appointment date to come backout and redo the installation on Thursday (2-14-2019) today. He said the office would call before and verify the time for the appointment. Here it is 1:50 pm on Thursday and I have not heard from Shutter Outlet or seen the installers.
Over my professional career I had ownership in 8 clothing stores here in Brevard. It is sad and unprofessional to see any company conduct their business in this manner.
My hope is that this information will help Shutter Outlet in Cocoa, Fl improve their business operation.

Desired Outcome

To make the needed install corrections so all hurricane panels fit correctly across the front window.

Shutter Outlet Response • Mar 05, 2019

I apologize for the communication issues and I am happy that the installation issues have been corrected.

Requesting a refund for the deposit of $200.00 for a bahama shutter that was not as promised. In addition, we want a $0.00 balance on contract.
Sales rep sold us a custom color bahama shutter. After signing the contract, we were told that they couldn't do a custom color. The sales rep told us they would make the shutter white and we could paint it ourselves. The rep brought the shutter to our house. After seeing the shutter in person, we found that it was painted with a powder coat that cannot be painted. The rep was incorrect in stating that the shutter could be successfully painted by us after production. We would not accept the shutter and the rep took it back to the shop. We have called Shutter Outlet on numerous occasions in an attempt to recover the deposit. The owner has not returned our calls or rectified the situation. We do not have a shutter and have paid the company $200. We are requesting that our $200 deposit be refunded since Shutter Outlet is not able to produce a shutter in our custom color. We also want our contract to reflect a zero balance.

Desired Outcome

A $200 refund for the deposit we payed for the shutter and a zero balance on our contract.

Shutter Outlet Response • Nov 14, 2018

Mr. ordered a custom made bahama shutter that was specially made for his house exactly as ordered. When it came in he decided he didn't like it and refused to pay the balance.

When I spoke to him he acted as though he couldn't possibly have made a mistake and everyone in the world is out to get him.

I refunded every penny he paid because he is an unreasonable and nasty man and I choose not to conduct business with that type of person.

I ordered Bahama Shutters in March 2018 and was told the installation would take place in (6) months which is September 2018. I followed up at month (4) and spoke to the person who answers the phone and she then said (7) months which would be October 2018. I called today to verify October installation and was told the tech measured the windows on 10/2/2018 (Yesterday) and my response was I was home all day and I had know one from Shutter Outlet at my house. I have real time cameras at my home that notify me via my cellphone of any activity as well. I was then told they would be out today and it would be another (3) months. I requested my deposit back and I was told the owner can only refund and he's not available. I was okay with a (6) month installation date, then okay with (7) months but (10) months isn't acceptable to me. I've been in the construction industry in Brevard County for over 20 years and participate in ABC I'll see who else can get the work done.

I have had so many of my neighbors following this installation, I'm very disappointed!

I WAS PROMISED A REFUND OF MY DEPOSIT ON TWO DIFFERENT TIMES THEY PROMISED TO ISSUE A REFUND TO MY CREDIT CARD ACCOUNT I NEVER GOT THE REFUND.
ON DEC. 26 2017 I CONTRACTED WITH SHUTTER OUTLET IN COCOA FL TO BUILD & INSTALL ACCORDION STORM SHUTTER. EVERY TIME I CALLED I GOT A DIFFERENT STORY WHY NO WORK WAS BEING DONE. ON JUNE 15 2018 MY LAWER SENT A DEMAND LETTER INSTRUCTING MR MORELLI TO RELEASE ME FROM THE CONTRACT & RETURN MY DEPOSIT. ON JUNE 9 2018 I TALKED TO MR MOREILLI. HE PROMISED TO CREDIT MY CREDIT CARD ACCOUNT. AS OF JULY 24 2018 I HAVE NOT RECEIVED A CREDIT.

Desired Outcome

I WANT SHUTTER OUTLET TO REFUND MY DEPOSIT

Shutter Outlet Response • Jul 29, 2018

Mr. did in fact enter into a contract in December and was fully aware that due to material availability and the fact that a lot of contracts were before his that his installation wouldn't be for six to eight months. On JULY 9th (not June as he stated) I spoke to Mr. and told him that I would happily cancel his contract and refund his deposit as he requested, but since his deposit was by credit card that I would refund his deposit the same way by the end of the month.
His deposit was credited, as I said it would be, over a week ago.
Shutter Outlet has done exactly as I said it would, every step of the way.
I would appreciate it if Mr. Pearce would correct his claim and cease his attempt to damage our reputation.

I RECEIVED MY DEPOSIT THANKYOU

Deposit for shutters and installation given August 2017, to date no measurements/installation. Shutter Outlet won't return phone calls.
Shutter installation for private residence, two window openings, discussed with Sales Person (Robert P) in August of 2017. I was told from start to finish the process would be four months. Half of the contract amount was put down. I can not get Shutter Outlet to commit to a measurement and installation date. They refuse to take or return my phone calls.

Desired Outcome

Measure and complete installation as contracted within 30 days.

Customer Response • Jun 28, 2018

Contacted by Shutter Outlet installer 6/27/2018. He stated the shutters will be ready and installed on Monday July 2nd 2018. Installation scheduled for 7/2 early morning.

Shutter Outlet will not provide me a paid bill of sale, any applicable warranty paperwork, and the necessary paperwork for the city inspection.
I contracted with Shutter Outlet in July 2017 to install a combination of seven window hurricane accordion shutters and two powered roll-down shutters for my lanai. They required 30% down and I was told installation should be completed within 10-12 weeks. Initial measurements were taken and I was told two weeks prior to install their engineer would come out for the final measurements and material would be ordered. Having not heard anything by October, I started calling to find out where I was on the schedule. I made multiple calls to the office and once visited the office in person Oct thru Dec. Each time I was told it will only be another 2 weeks. In early November office manager said they were finishing up July contracts, and just a couple more weeks. I asked multiple times to speak to the owner, but he was never in. I asked that he call me and was assured he would, but he never did. On Jan 12th a tech (not an engineer) came out and re-measured changing the initial measurements. At NO time did the company ever call me with any updates. With no updates, on Jan 29th I went to the office at their opening and said I was not leaving until I spoke with the owner to get a full refund. Office manager then told me I was next for install. I said, I WILL WAIT. When owner came in he told me I was 29th on the install list but he could... "move some things around". Really, 29th after 7 months and the office manager telling me just 30 mins earlier I was number one for install. He said there were problems with the measurements and he would need to come out and see for himself (two previous personnel had been out to do measurements). I said I needed a commitment by him, his word and handshake, to a firm date, or refund! He assured me he would have shutters installed by end of Feb. I specifically asked if all material was available and office manager told me YES, it was. Not hearing anything, as usual, on 16 Feb I contacted them to see if all was on schedule...was told yes, no exact date, but by end of month. A week later I inquired and was told they had to move the install date out to 5th of Mar. On 5th Mar... nobody showed up or called. I called the office at noon and they said they were awaiting material and would reschedule (previously told all material was available). They came Mar 10th and did the install. It went OK except minor cosmetic parts were on backorder and they did not leave me the required paperwork in order for City to do final inspection, or any other paperwork. Regrettably, I paid in full that day . It is now May 1st (2 months later) and they still won't provide the docs needed for the city to do final inspection. I have notified the owner of this delay, he won't respond. I have called the office multiple times and I get a different excuse each time as to the paperwork delay. On April 11th I even called the City and asked them about the required inspection. They called Shutter Outlet on my behalf and was told they are working on getting the installation docs together (installation docs(?),two months after they already installed the shutters????). This company has been totally Unprofessional, Unresponsive, Unreliable, and flat out Dishonest in their dealings with me. I want a paid bill of sale, any applicable warranty paperwork, and the necessary paperwork provided so the city inspection of this company's work can be scheduled and completed.

Desired Outcome

I want a paid bill of sale, any applicable warranty paperwork, and the necessary paperwork provided to me so the city inspection of this company's work can be scheduled and completed. The job is not complete until the city signs off.

Shutter Outlet Response • May 12, 2018

I handed the permit and all the related paperwork to *** on the day that I took final measurements to begin the manufacturing of his shutters. Once we were notified that he had misplaced it we began the process of duplicating it. It has now been sent to him.

Customer Response • May 16, 2018

(The consumer indicated he/she DID NOT accept the response from the business.)
As of today, 15 May, the city has completed their final inspection. I consider this matter now closed, although only one of my three requests in this filing have been satisfied. No warranty information or a paid bill of sale was provided. I do not wish to pursue those two actions further since it has been over two months since my request.
I will address*** comment about me "misplacing" paperwork. I strongly disagree! I tracked this $10,000 project from day one to completion in great detail. Yes,*** handed me three sheets of paperwork on the date he took measurements. 1: A copy of the City Permit. 2: The Final City Inspection Card. 3: The Product Approval Submittal Form. Nothing else! I finally received from Shutter Outlet the drawings in question on May 11th via certified mail (two months after install). There are 35 pages of drawings!!! To state that I misplaced 35 pages but somehow retained just the 3 (described above), is ridiculous. Just more poor customer service from this company.

Contracted for shutter installation 20 Sept 2017. Not installed as 12 Apr 2018.
Contracted for home shutter installation 20 Sep 2017. Told installation would be December, 2017. Called in December and was told installation would be done NLT mid-April, 2018. Called 12 April and was told installation would not happen before June or July, 2018.
I put down a deposit of $2300.00 on 20 September, 2017.
I do not want to have to start over with another company if it is avoidable.

Desired Outcome

Installation of contracted shutters before May, 2018.

Shutter Outlet Response • May 12, 2018

The installation for *** has been completed. I apologize for the delay but there were many people who ordered shutters prior to *** and they needed to be completed in order.
I hope that Mr. Murray is happy with his finished product.

In July 2016 Shutter Outlet was hired by *** to remove hurricane shutters to do concrete restoration. This company did not use care in taking shutters off. I watched them just tear pull and rip them out of the concrete. I had new reconditioned shutters they damaged, to to their negligence. They're destroyed and can no be fixed. Shutter outlet is trying to force me to buy new shutters that they destroyed

I will be in florida about the second week in January. Call me at ***. Or call the condo office to find me at

Desired Outcome

---See Attached-- I would like the Revdex.com to contact them. They have insurance. They broke them let them fix them or replace them.

Shutter Outlet Response • Feb 26, 2018

Shutter Outlet was contracted by the building manager of his condominium building to remove all of the accordion shutters from the balconies so the restoration contractor that they had hired could begin the concrete repair work.
We performed an assessment of the shutters prior to the removal to avoid problems just like this.
Mr. shutters, like most of the shutters on the building, were old, worn, had broken wheels and were deteriorated beyond the point that they could be reinstalled.
Mr. claimed that his shutters were perfect before we removed them but it is just plain not the case and I have the pictures to prove it.
Mr. first blamed the building manager and then he blamed us for the condition of his shutters.
In an effort to satisfy Mr., we worked with the building manager and inspected all the other shutters that were removed from the building that weren't being reinstalled attempting to find shutters that were serviceable that could be installed on his condo but they were all in the same, poor condition.
I'm sorry that Mr. shutters were so old and deteriorated that they couldn't be reinstalled but I am neither responsible for his shutters nor the replacement of his shutters.

I ordered Hurricane Shutters from Shutter Outlet on June 2,2017, I was told it would take 6 to 8 weeks. I finally got them installed November 24, 2017. They never called me, I always had to call them to check on the order. Tried to cancel in September and was told that the owner would call me, the owner never called me but decided that they are not canceling orders, they are going to install them. They called me to information me of the time of the install and what the balance was. The balance they gave me was 102.00 higher than what they gave me in June and that I would need to speak to the owner, who was not available.

I put a deposit down for Hurricane Shutters to be installed in my home in July 2017. As of November 22, 2017 the work has not been done.
When I put down the deposit for the hurricane shutters to be installed on "good faith" that the work would begin in about 12 weeks, however Hurricane Irma hit and it set them back. I called the office to inquire about the installation and was told someone was sick, and could not come and make the second measurement, I called back two weeks later when no one came, and then they said the individual ad resigned. I gave them another two weeks, and still NO one has come out to measure a second time for the shutters, nor have they called me with information on the status of the installation. I have had to call them. This is not good business practice. I called last week to ask when they were going to get the measurements done, and I was told that they would be done on Friday, November 17, 2017. Not sure if this was done because I did not receive a call. I called back today, November 22, 2017 and was told that the manager or owner was out of town and would not be back until next week. All I want is my hurricane shutters done or give me back my refund of over $2,000. I just want them to communicate with the customer when there are delays or just say that can't do and and to refund my money so that I can go with another company. This is very frustrating.

Desired Outcome

I want my hurricane shutters installed as per the contract that I signed in July, 2017.

Shutter Outlet Response • Feb 12, 2018

Ms. is correct in that she contracted Shutter Outlet to build and install hurricane shutters for her home. Material shortages industry wide caused an industry wide 6 month backlog beginning in March of last year, our salesperson knew that and informed everyone at contract that it would take 6 months.

The hurricane that hit Florida caused an incredible influx of phone calls and unfortunately, as hard as we tried, we were not able to handle them as efficiently as we would have liked.

Ms. shutters were installed on December 14th, within the 6 months that she was promised, and I hope that they serve her well for a long time to come.

Entered into contact with this company and was promised install 8 - 10 weeks from date signed (6/19/17). It is now 9/18/17 and no action from this company. When their deadline hit, I began calling asking for a status and was told that I was 'on the list for the engineer to come out and final measure'. Engineer never called or came to my house. Several more phones were made to Shutter Outlet demanding a refund of my deposit so I could pursue getting storm shutters from another company. Rosette, said I'd have to speak with Kevin (onwer), but I've yet to receive a call back... I will seek legal action against this company if they do not return my deposit.

Desired Outcome

Refund of my deposit $500

Shutter Outlet Response • Feb 26, 2018

When *** ordered storm panels for 4 openings on June 19th he was told that we were running 5 - 6 months from contract to install, the same as all hurricane shutter companies at that time.
His shutters were installed on 11/15, just under 5 months from the contract date, and he signed the completion sheet and paid the balance due.
