Side Street Offroad was hired to fix the rear of my 2017 *** I received my vehicle back on 3/27/2019. On 04/19/2019 less than a month later my *** started leaking gear oil. I reached out to the company multiple times to be avoided and drove by 4 times during *** week in Daytona FL. At the end of the week they finally looked at it and said the seal was leaking. I fixed the seal when we went back home out of my own pocket. On 06/21/2019 my *** broke down from the rear breaking down. This was less than 3 months after I paid Side Street Offroad to fix it. I reached out to the company multiple times and they would not fix the problem. I sent them pictures of the gears and rear to show the companies error when fixing my rear in March. They neglected to answer me after advising them of this issue. This caused me to spend more money to have a different company fix it and also I was out of work for 2 weeks because my vehicle is the way I make money to provide for my family, I am an uber driver.
Rick JGood morning, This is in response to the complaint I received, Complaint ID Customer had his 2017 *** towed to us for repair. Upon inspection, customer was notified of the issues that needed to be repaired, and the cost for parts and labor. The seal in question was not leaking at the time of repair, and was not touched for any reason during the repairs made. When the customer arrived to pick up the vehicle on 03/27/19, the total invoice was $1340.82, he arrived with $1050.00 in cash and said he would pay the remaining $290.82 at a later date, due to him being out of work at the time, which I had agreed to at the time. Customer was instructed to have a 500 mile check up and fluid change to make sure everything was working properly, he never returned to have this done by me. On 04/19/19 customer started texting me about a leak, I asked him to bring it in for us to evaluate the situation, he stated that he was in North Carolina at the time on his way to Daytona Beach, Florida with his wife and young son. Unable to bring it in for inspection by me he continued to make the 900+ mile trip with said leak. I told him if he didn't have it fixed or looked at by the time we arrived to the same event, I would certainly take a look at it. Upon arrival for our week long vacation, customer had driven past my campsite multiple times, without stopping until the the day we were packing up to leave to head home. He brought vehicle over Sunday morning as he was also leaving for his 900+ mile trip home, upon inspection at the time he was informed that the Pinion Seal was leaking and needed to be replaced. I gave him 3 Quarts of gear fluid and he proceeded to tell me he was going to drive straight to his house because he had work Monday morning. Fast forward 2 months without hearing anything from the customer, he starts calling, texting on 06/21/19 saying his vehicle is broke down and it is my fault and he expects me to pay him for repairs. Customer had his vehicle towed to another shop for these repairs, and I was sent pictures which could have been taken from anywhere.
In conclusion, the customer still has an outstanding unpaid bill for $290.82. Customer neglect for not having the 500 mile checkup and fluid change possibly could have prevented this. The fact that he drove well over 1800 miles with a leaking seal risking damage to his vehicle and possibly the safety of his family is also customer neglect. When he was asked if he had the seal replaced, he replied "yes, the Friday after we got home from Florida", When whoever replaced the seal did that repair they would have noticed something else was wrong.
