Siding Innovations, Inc. Reviews (1)

The following issues have arisen with their siding job:Timeliness - On Jan. 8th, 2013, they agreed by signing our contract to a timeline of a maximum of three months as per Section 4 of our agreement. It is now Feb. 2014. When asked to return to complete, [redacted] repeatedly said they were too busy and could only work weekends because they had other clients. After raising these issues with [redacted] many times, he suggested that I finish the job without them. This appears like he is trying to abandon the job. Inappropriate materials specification. As per 1.b.i.1.c. of our agreement, they were responsible for the specifications of the materials. They inappropriately specified the materials for the battens. Additionally, I have made numerous orders of siding because they failed to initially appropriately determine the amount needed. This incurred many milling set up charges and delivery fees. Further, [redacted] blames the delays in the project on the lack of materials - that is then ultimately his responsibility. We are delayed b/c he improperly specified the materials.Compromised my warranty on moisture barrier - by leaving the house unfinished for nearly a year, I have had moisture barrier exposed to the elements, which has voided my warranty. Shirking responsibilities - Throughout Section 1 of our agreement, it mentions they are responsible for "all siding" work. [redacted] claims he is not responsible for the carport. Not only is this in violation of the agreement, there's really no rationale for it - they bid a set of plans that had an entry. Poor workmanship-There are myriad issues with their workmanship including improper nailing patterns, large gaps between boards, unsecured pieces, poor pattern matching, poor notching around framing, poor waterproofing, un-level boards, and exposed moisture barrier, to name a few. If you click on this link, I have compiled a photo album that demonstrates these issues - [redacted]Product_Or_Service: [redacted]Desired SettlementI offered $7K(a discount to my direct costs which are +$15K).Inc.my time, it's +$20K. Carl refused.I asked the contractors board to review. They agreed the job is replete with issues & said they'd make a ruling if we can't settle. So Carl offered ~$3.7K. As this is insufficient, I asked the board to proceed. They said they'll issue the notice to correct this wk. But I plan to only use as evidence-I don't want him making a bigger mess & wasting material. I want now $10K to settle.Business Response To respond to the timeframe of the siding, window, soffits and fascia job. Not all of the material was supplied at the start of the job. The windows were not delivered until Jan 25th, those are needed to be installed before siding installation can begin. All that could be done was the fascia on the home as the soffit had to be sent to get finished. We normally install soffits and fascia's together for scaffolding reasons. So having to scaffold twice takes twice the time to install them. Then an issue with the window and door trim came up and the supplied trim had to be sent to get ripped down to the correct size. So we had to try and install the siding without trim which became and issue with proper fitting once we did receive the trim. After we installed all the material that was supplied we didn't have enough to finish the job so more materials was ordered to finish the job. That took around 6 weeks to get and once it arrived we installed the remaining material, and again was short on material so another order was placed to complete. It again arrived and we was there to install the siding and trim and we was missing the window trim that was ordered and some was sent to get ripped down to the proper size. So we had to wait to receive that material to finish, now at this time we have other clients to work for and have to try and keep our schedule on our other projects as well. As this made it difficult to get back to finish Lauren's home. The improperly specified materials being ordered is battens which are run horizontally as part of the siding pattern and would be considered siding. To address the carport there was 3 options of entries on a separate detail aside of the plans which was not brought to my attention of the ones they chose till after I had started the job. before I bid the home I physically walked the home and placed my bid on what was already built. Anything added to the building after I started would have to be added as a change order. The workmanship issues have been addressed and are being taken care of as recommended by the Nevada State Contractors Board. The job still has money left on the contract so I agreed to pay for the items that needed to get it finished and pay for any repairs needed. Now Lauren is allowing us to remedy those repairs at our costs.
