I called Sierra Air as our heater for our home wouldn't come on. The service man came out and said we needed a new gas valve cost $485.00 plus the service call charge of $69.00. I told the man I would have to tell my husband and would reschedule. Told my husband and we called [redacted] Heating for a second opinion they came out and told us it was the thermal couple for $17.95 plus their service call. A big difference! It was fixed and everything worked again.Desired SettlementJust wanted the public to know and to be aware of this business as they take advantage of seniors and military. Business Response I apologize for any inconvenience the diagnostic may have caused you, I wish that we could have spoken in October when we came out to you. I am glad that you got your heater working. We also give a discount to military, we always give one if you inform us you are a veteran.Consumer Response (The consumer indicated he/she DID NOT accept the response from the business.)I did speak to them after the misdiagnose of the problem. They were fast to cash the check for the service call and offered no refund. Great way to treat seniors and veterans!!!Final Business Response Contact Name and Title: [redacted]Contact Phone: 7753565566Contact Email: [redacted]I am very sorry that we did not take care of your complaint when you called last year, and that our diagnosis was incorrect. I can offer you a refund of your Diagnostic fee if you would like?Final Consumer Response (The consumer indicated he/she ACCEPTED the response from the business.)It is sad that I had to go to this extent to receive a refund, it would have been nice to receive this offer when the problem happened. I will wait for the return of the cost of the service call. Thank you for your help. [redacted]

Sierra Air told me that the service on my new system was free of charge multiple times. When the tech got to the site he charged.Sierra Air told me that the service on my new system was free of charge when asked multiple times what the charges were going to be for the first service trip. When the tech got to the site he looked at my system and fiddled around with it for about 15-20 minutes to tell me there was nothing wrong with it and it was working fine. When he was done he then hits me with charges for the service that I was told was free of charge. If they had told me up front that there was going to be a charge I would have told them NOT to come. I called and requested that I be removed from their mailing list and was assured that I was. I then got another postcard so I called and again requested no more mail from them. The service manager tried to smooth it over with bribes of free service or my money back for the service trip that I was told was free of charge in the first place. He totally missed the point that the money was not the issue; it was the lying and then trying to cover it up.Basically I do not do business with any company that is willing to lie to a customer about what their charges are and then try to cover it up with bribes.Be careful of this company and make sure that you have any charges in writing before you do business with them. Desired SettlementAt this point all I want from Sierra Air is that they stop mailing me and stay away from me and my property. I will have someone else take care of my system.Business Response April 27, 2015Ms. [redacted]Re: Case # [redacted]: The customer called to voice his displeasure with receiving a mailer. At that time the call was sent to me. When I picked up the line I asked the customer what the issue was. He explained to me that he had previously requested to be removed from our mailing list and had received another mailer. I looked into this and found that he had been removed from one list that we have but was still active on a second list. I assured him that he would be removed this time. He also expressed frustration in being charged for a service in the fall of 2014. I looked into this and found that he was in fact charged for something that he should not have been. I offered free service for 2 years or to refund his money in full. The customer became very upset with this offer so at that point I asked him again how we could resolve this and his response was to just remove him from the mailing list. We do apologize to the customer again. Unfortunately he was caught in a situation that some employees made errors. We have performed further training with these employees to assure this does not happen again. As of the day the customer and I spoke he has been removed from all of our mailing lists. [redacted]

I called Sierra Air Inc. to service my air conditioner when it wouldn't cool my house. The A/C unit was less than 3 years old. The Sierra Air employee stated the condenser was not worth fixing and recommended replacement. He even had his supervisor visit my house to verify. The invoice read: "Troubleshooted an unit and founded clogged condenser. Recommendet replace unit." A little later I had Sierra Furnance Works assess the situation. They determined the unit was just low on refrigerant. They added 2lbs of R40 and the A/C unit now cools my house again. It seems to me that Sierra Air just wanted to sell me Carrier unit. They came and charged me for a service call and did not even attempt to repair the actual problem.Product_Or_Service: Servicing A/C unit not coolingOrder_Number: [redacted]Desired SettlementSierra Air charged me $89 dollars for an incorrect assessment. With the added refrigerant, the unit performs to expectations. I am extremely disappointed, I had called for them to fix my AC for a weekend my elderly mother who was house sitting so she wouldn't have to swelter in the heat. Even a full refund does not cover the inconvenience of the situation.Business Response Contact Name and Title: Kelly HellerContact Phone: 7753565566Contact Email: [redacted]We apologize for the experience you had with us, we thank you for bringing this to our attention and we are investigating the diagnosis. We will be sending you a refund for your diagnostic fee in full.Consumer Response (The consumer indicated he/she ACCEPTED the response from the business.)I will be much happier with the refund since I had to pay for two diagnosis and then the repair after the original misdiagnosis of a complete replacement.

A/C Installation, date 2003, was negligent (and nearly burned my house down yesterday).Sierra Air installed a split A/C (and new furnace) at my house in 2003. No issue with the furnace. However, Sierra Air's wiring of the outdoor unit nearly burned the house down yesterday:Today, I have read the label on the unit ([redacted]). It specifies that wiring must have minimum Ampacity of 35A (that's 8-AWG), and also that the maximum rating of the dual-pole circuit breaker is 40A. (That is also specified as the "minimum" rating: 40A is the only acceptable value for load protection). But Sierra Air installed a 60A circuit breaker, and wired from the Disconnect switch to the Outdoor unit pigtails with *12 gauge Romex*. (Ampacity 20A).When the air conditioner stopped working, I discovered this dangerous (and criminal) combination of wire size versus load, and wire size versus Circuit Breaker size. It was a disaster waiting to happen - and yesterday, it finally did: One of the "hot" wires had overheated and burned through it's insulation in the disconnect box, creating a "sparky" fault to the metal box and conduit Ground. Eventually, the wire completely burned out. The the sparks may have lasted a only few seconds; or a few minutes, or a really long time. The burns on the inside of the box were large, and the conduit nut had welded itself to the conduit connector and box.I am displeased to loose the air conditioner, but that is only a few thousand dollars. I write this complaint because we have a wood frame house, with wood siding, and this nearly inevitable result might have KILLED US in a fatal fire.Desired SettlementI request no resolution from the business: there is no possible compensation for the threat to my house, and the lives of myself and my family, from the frightening defect which they installed".Instead, I request that Revdex.com remove Sierra Air from the list of accredited businesses. There was obviously a level of disregard for customer safety, building code laws, and basic decency which must be addressed by Revdex.com, and not the business:To save the "cost" of a 15 minute shopping trip to a "big box" hardware store for proper wire, or to save $15 in wire costs, this firm almost burned my house, and threatened the lives of my family. They ignored basic labelling on the product, basic rules of electric wiring, and the law.Business Response Contact Name and Title: [redacted] Service Mgr.Contact Phone: 775-356-5566Contact Email: [redacted]@sierraair.com[redacted] we are sorry to hear about your experience. We are committed to supplying the top customer service to all of our customers and to follow the top installation practices in the area. We would appreciate the opportunity to look at the system and make any corrections at no charge. Consumer Response (The consumer indicated he/she ACCEPTED the response from the business.)

This business can't be trusted. We requested just the air conditioning units be serviced at 2 locations. I have other resources for the heating. At the first location Sierras tech took it upon himself to check the furnace- not requested - He told the tenant the limit switch was bad and replaced it -$250 - I had the switch tested and there was nothing wrong with it- We reinstalled it and furnace is working fine! They next told me at the second location the condenser had burned up because there was a scorch mark on the unit. The scorch occurred several years prior... I have no confidence in the work he performed. After a couple months of phone tagging and research (on three occasions the service manager had just stepped out) I was able to get a partial refund. They claimed they were honoring a comfort agreement my parents had 4 years ago and I was actually saving $$$$! I wouldn't recommend this company to anyone..........","neg-1
