I purchased a Jeep Renegade 4-19-16 at Jeep of Monrovia. When we worked out the deal, I told them that I wanted a navigation system which got approved by the Sales Manager.I was given a due bill. Apr 22nd, I got a call from the finance person who left a VM stating that they forgot to give me some paper work that needed signing. 4-23rd I go in to the dealership to where I was greeted by the sales person and I am told that since the jeep I got was the special edition, they are not designed to have a navi system. I was given 2 options at this point, either they could refund me the money or I could just get a portable one. The salesperson walked me over to the finance person. The true reason behind why I was called in came to light. This was not to just sign some papers that were missing it was so that I could be given an ultimatum, re-sign my contract with one of the two options given or return the keys. In vague detail, I was told that they could either create a new contract that will refund me the money for the navi, or one with navi system that will require me to pay an extra $2,500 out of pocket. I informed him that in the contract that I had already signed, I was promised a navi system. I stated that I needed to think about it since it was a large amount of money. The gentleman apologized and stated that there isn't time to think it over and that the decision must be made now and if I didn't agree that the contract could not be sent to the bank. He mentioned that if the bank did not receive the contract within 10 days that it becomes void and the loan will not be approved. I expressed that I already signed a contract and in the contract I was promised in writing the installation of a navigation system. He then decided to call over the sales manager to further assist in the situation. The Sales Manager walks in, introducing himself as Michael S[redacted]. He gave off a sense of irritation and with attitude, tells me that I only have 2 options. I can either sign a new contract and take off the value of the navi system, or add the system for the extra money. I again informed Michael that the sales manager, who helped me on the day of my purchase, approved the contract and that it was not my fault that he had made an error. To which he stated that I was correct and that this manager had already been fired because of the negligence in the deal he made with me and that he had no idea why he approved it.At this point I was very upset and rhetorically asked that because of a poor decision of one of their trained professionals I was considered collateral damage and now I would have to pay the consequences? To where the finance manager tried to smooth things over and said that it was a human mistake and unfortunately because of the error they were trying to fix it. At this point I was in mid sentence when the Michael cut me off, and started talking over me. I quickly cut him off and told him he needed to let me talk, that I was his client and he needed to listen. Michael allowed me to continue and I informed him that the way that he was handling the situation was very wrong. That he was coming off too strong and rude. He then stated that sometimes people do not like to hear the truth. To which I replied, that it was not about hearing the truth it is about the way that you are talking to me. It is very unprofessional and you are coming off too strong. I also said that Michael needed to learn from his employees and that the finance manager helping me was speaking to me in the correct fashion. That he was humble and very customer service oriented and that they way he was talking to me was wrong and that he could learn from his employees. Michael then stated that there was nothing else he could do and if I decided to sign the new contract without the navigation system, that it was ok and that they wouldn't be losing anything. That if I decide to return the car, the bank was just going to refund them and that it wouldn't affect them. He also stated that they were not going to send the original contract that I signed to the bank and that my only option was to make a decision. Michael then said he could give me some time to think about it and to have someone to pick me up to go home and take a few days to make my decision. He followed by saying that he was not going to let me drive the car out and put more miles on it. I asked him to let me make a few phone calls. After really thinking about their offers, and taking into consideration the treatment I was given, I decided to void my contract and return the car. This became a matter of ethics, morals, professionalism, and being humble.I was called in with lies and vague details about paperwork missing signatures, to finding out that my contract was being withheld from the bank due to their errors and attempting to force me into an uncomfortable and unfair ultimatum to sign a new contractfor more money out of my pocket and mediocre results to solving their mistakes at my expense
