Sierra Moving Systems Reviews (1)

I hired [redacted] to do a two-part move for me; I had sold my home and was moving into a temporary residence until I would finally relocate from [redacted] to [redacted] Some of my furnishings were to go to the rental and the remainder into storage. I paid full coverage for both parts of this move. It wasn?t until after my things were moved into storage that I was told they would not reimburse for any damage for items in a storage facility, and I was also told by one of the movers that [redacted] could have offered me temporary storage and then my furnishings would have been covered. I felt there was a total lack of care given to my items as they were loading them up. I had fancy curtain rods that were not wrapped and the jewels broke off and were all over the bedroom floor. They disassembled my desk and I found the bolts on the floor in the office. I did a walk through prior to them loading up and told them the washer and dryer would not fit through the doorway unless they removed the door. They pushed it through and scratched it up, and we had just purchased it.The cross-country move ended up split into two separate pick-ups and deliveries because the truck already had other people?s furnishings onboard and they ran out of room for my things. This caused me to take two additional days off from work, one at each end of the trip. My items, again, were delivered to two different locations, one a temporary residence, and the second, a storage unit. It was again mentioned to me [redacted] should have provided temporary storage. Additionally, I was told I had to file a claim prior to our move or I would be unable to file a claim because the furnishings were being moved again from the location in which they delivered them. I filed a claim on the items inside my rental, asking for repair, but was issued a check instead based on the value they determined my furnishings were worth. I saw one mover tossing things out of the truck onto the ground and he was extremely rough with placing the items that did not fit into the rental into the garage, banging everything against the walls. When I was ready for my final move, I discovered how poorly a job was done on the previous two moves. The movers I hired would not touch anything without showing me how badly it was damaged. Some of the things that really stood out were: $10,000+ bedroom set ? bench was placed on its side on the wooden arm on the cement floor and scraped; the canopy rails for the bed are missing; the posts are terribly beat up at the tops and bottoms; heavy garage items were stacked on top of the leather chaise; the marble top dresser was shattered on one corner, marble broken off and a huge dent in the center; the standing mirror was disassembled and pieces shoved in miscellaneous areas throughout the storage unit; Large mirrors were not boxed or wrapped; Large computer monitor was not boxed and just stuffed between things in storage and is all scratched up; Did not wrap any furniture or other items in plastic to protect them; decorative metal bathroom cabinet is horribly scraped and the leather on all pieces in the living room is scraped on all corners; kitchen table has huge gouge and long, deep scratch; Placed two stainless steel buffet servers in the outside trash receptacle with no wrapping; one of them the corner is broken off and they are scratched; the ceramic pots were stacked without wrapping in a cooler and one of them is broken; soda cans were put inside a cooler with other items and exploded and mold grew all over it; workshop light missing; Items were stacked on top of the marble dressers without even paper between them to protect them to protect them; We found the back to our television wall mount in the BBQ grill, which is only one example about how things were just shoved in places; Our bicycles were disassembled and we cannot find all the pieces, i.e., the pedals; workshop light is missing; We received a bistro table, chair and 2 table legs that did not belong to us; Top to the footboard on one bedroom set was broken off and the side scraped; headboard is loose; Living room lamps ? tops are broken and will not tighten and stay in place; Queen bed has deep scratches and chips in it; Power tools were shoved in a box without care or wrapping and the tile cutter top is bent, as well as the chain saw blade; Picture frames and water globe broken; Crystal wine glasses packed at the bottom of a large box with heavy ceramic dishes, crushed; Moved bookshelves without removing the shelves and pegs and the shelves fell and damaged corners, as well as missing the pegs; and every piece of wood furniture we own is scratched, dented, etc. These are just the things that stand out to me but all of this is really upsetting. My husband and I were both in the military 20 years and moved numerous times and we never had any issues. We already paid for our belongings, and then paid almost $19,000 for someone to move them. I felt they showed a total lack of care for my belongings and the damage that was done was unnecessary. I believe the worst part was the second truck delivery. Product_Or_Service: Packing & Moving ServicesOrder_Number: [redacted]Desired SettlementWe have been working to replace/repair most of the items, but the most expensive of these items was the bedroom dresser (currently $1,710 plus tax & delivery), the canopy bed ($2,024 plus tax & delivery) and the kitchen table, which was estimated about $700 to repair the top. We would like to request repair of the table top, repair of the canopy bed (we've already purchased new canopy rails) and repair or replacement of the dresser. It was Sierra Moving Systems who packed my belongings and moved them. The second delivery contained the items most damaged and were also the items listed on the inventory as high value. I paid for the $70,000 insurance both moves. The damage to our belongings would not have happened had more care been taken by Sierra Moving Systems.Final Business Response Following is a comprehensive description of services rendered for [redacted]Sierra Moving Systems work applicable to Revdex.com review:5/26/15 Pack in [redacted], BILL OF LADEN SR-58-15-15/27/15 Pack/Move in [redacted] to [redacted] BILL OF LADEN SR-58-15-25/27/15 Move in [redacted] to [redacted] location BILL OF LADEN SR-58-15-25/28/15 Delivery at the mini-storage, BILL OF LADEN SR-58-15-3No claim was filed to Sierra Moving SystemsProvisions for filing claims against Sierra Moving Systems are:(d) Local Move: If you incur property damage caused by the carrier during your local move, it must be noted on the bill of lading prior to the carrier leaving the destination address. The inspector's name is [redacted].Items that were denied by [redacted] because the items were moved again and were not on original claim that was paid out. These Items denied include: bench, bed rails, bed posts, leather chair, marble top dresser, standing mirror, computer monitor, metal cabinet, buffet server, ceramic pot, china hutch, corner shelving unit, marble top dresser, bicycle, lamps, tile cutter, chainsaw blade, frames, globe, bookshelf.Final Consumer Response (The consumer indicated he/she DID NOT accept the response from the business.)Most of the items that were damaged were from the 2nd portion of the move, that is correct. The "payout" that is referred to was for repair of other items, not the items listed and I was told again that anything that was moved into storage was not covered and the claim had to be filed before the next move. The high dollar furniture was listed on the paperwork as high dollar. We were unable to view the damaged items until the next move and because we were unable to move them. I understand the company has its "terms" and policies, but this is really bad business. There was no care taken with our belongings and whether they feel it should fall under the parent company, it is the local company that did the poor job and others should know about this. It doesn't appear they are willing to do anything about this and we will have to pursue through other channels.
