Once I get official [redacted] approval for my project and the paint type/color for my pergola then I can consider this closed.  I appreciated finally being able to meet with a supervisor from Siesta Landscaping and his willingness to help me with questions I had.  However, I'm hoping they will be willing to answer questions with the work they did in the future.

Review: I contracted with Siesta Landscaping for a redesign and build of our front yard landscaping. It was contracted out and work began on 11 September, 2011. The final payment was made at project completion and after numerous delays on 18 November, 2013. to the owner of Siesta Landscaping, he told us he would provide our [redacted] ([redacted]) with a drawing of the project as required for its approval. After getting tentative verbal approval from our [redacted] we did the required approval paperwork at the beginning of the project, but Siesta Landscaping has still not provided the required drawing. We've contacted our association and they have yet to grant us official approval because they're waiting on the drawing. We found this unusual because Siesta Landscaping does a good amount of business here and is familiar with the requirements. Despite several reminders to the owner and his promises to get it done we are unable to get official approval because he has not completed the sketch/drawing/picture.

Our biggest issue with Siesta Landscaping is its failure to address defects in workmanship. We made numerous telephone calls to the owner of Siesta Landscaping and scheduled several meetings of which many he either cancelled, delayed or failed to respond to. I have a trail of text messages and an email which back me up on this point. The majority of the problems started on 9 January, 2013 when a meeting with Siesta Landscape's owner and the fence subcontractor, who built and designed our courtyard fence. The meeting had been delayed and rescheduled several times. The new metal fencing installed was already showing significant rust deposits on the fence despite our desert climate. Siesta Landscaping's owner showed up ~45 minutes late to the scheduled meeting, and failed to respond to any phone calls or texts about his whereabouts placed by myself or the fence subcontractor. While waiting, I discussed my disappointment with the fence to the fence installer and explained I would have paid more for quality because this was not what I wanted. I also asked him what he would directly charge a customer for this fence and he indicated $400.00. This surprised me because Siesta Landscaping charged me $950.00 for the small amount of fencing done. After the owner of Siesta Landscaping arrived I pointed out the pricing issue and stains forming on the columns of a pergola he installed. When this was pointed out, the owner got angry and used a few expletives as he told us we were lucky he even showed up. When it was pointed out by my wife that he was the one late he then stormed off to his truck and drove off at an excessive rate in a neighborhood that has children in it. The fencing subcontractor was even shocked at this bizarre behavior. Since that time, the owner of Siesta Landscaping has avoided us and as I said it has been difficult to get any response to emails, texts, or telephone calls. Also, since that time my wife has run into him and he indicated he would refund $200.00 on the fence.

The most disappointing thing about it is that shortly after we contracted him we have referred his business to others which has helped him get some lucrative projects. Yet we still have workmanship issues which could be easily resolved but the owner of Siesta Landscaping fails to discuss anything with us. This lack of professionalism is surprising since we have paid him in full despite the fact that his billing was far from detailed and seemed excessive. We thought we were going to get top quality work, integrity, and ethical business treatment. We should have realized that we might have issues when we found out he jack-hammered out our concrete sidewalk and porch while we were vacationing without first discussing it with us.(~21 September). A couple outstanding issues include irrigation lines and electrical cables not properly covered/buried and potentially inoperative drips in the yard. We personally coordinated with the fence contractor to do repairs on the fence.Desired Settlement: First, the owner of Siesta Landscaping politely discuss with us and repair any workmanship issues that we all agree are related to the project we contracted so we can resolve these issues in a hospitable manner. Second, Siesta Landscaping needs to provide the drawing/sketch/picture required so we can get official approval for our project. Finally, the owner told my wife he would refund us $200.00 for the fence, which I agreed to in a text despite the fact that I considered the price still excessive. This was one of the many texts he has failed to respond to. The owner of Siesta Landscaping told us that just let us know of any issues we have and we can work together to resolve it fairly. However, especially after our 9 January meeting we have found this far from true and we would like to see him held accountable. It didn't need to come to this. A complaint to the [redacted] is next.

Review: Siesta Landscaping in 2010 was hired to landscape our yard which included a fire pit and bbq within a bar. To date, we have insufficient gas pressure to use the fire pit and bbq for intended use since 2010. We have been advised by a gas fitter that the line installed is too small in diameter and feels the line could be filled with dirt. After several failed attempts over the past years, to have this issue resolved with the owner, [redacted] we contacted a company who will fix the problem for $1100.00. We contacted [redacted] last week, giving him another opportunity to fix this issue. He set up an appointment today to come to our house but he did not show up or return our telephone calls.Desired Settlement: Since this company does not service a warranty problem, does not show up for appointments we will hire another contractor to fix the issue and Siesta Landscaping should reimburse our costs.
