Review: I called the gym back in February and spoke to [redacted] in billing (she is the owners girlfriend) I told her that I havent been to the gym because of an injury and that I would like to cancel my membership, she said that my membership wasnt up till August of 2013, and even with a Dr's not it would only freeze for 6 months then I would have to continue to pay until I paid for a year. I decided to just keep paying until August and be done with it, even though I have not been to the gym in over 7 months. On Monday Septmber 9th I saw that abc the billing company for the gym took the money out again I called the gym numerous tmes in between this to make sure the payments would stop and got left on hold. Today I finally got in touch with [redacted] again and she told me that there is an automatic renewal on my membership and without a Dr;s not I could not stop payng for another year. I think their practices along with abc need to be investigated if I signed a two year contract why didnt she tell me that in February and if I did it was unkonwngly and unwillingly I would never do that.Desired Settlement: I want them to stop taking payments from my checking account and refund me for the month of September.

Review: We signed up for the Gym membership June, they said we would have 24 hours to cancel. We decided to use there personal training service, which the sales rep said included access to the facilities, and they said they would cancel the contract as it was within the 24 hours. While having the person training, we noticed mysterious charges from affinity fitness, we called about these and they were immediately refunded and were told there were no issues. Personal training ended in November, and we decided that due to money constraints, we were not going to do any more personal training sessions. Everything was fine until February, where I start seeing charges on my credit card, 52.43 twice one after the other, 104.86 total. I see it again in March for 104.86 and then April for 104.86. I immediately dispute charges after calling affinity fitness and not having them return any calls regarding the billing issue. After calling discover, they tell me Affinity gave them a signed contract saying that I authorized the charges! After calling affinity again and talking to the owner, he refused to refund the membership months, and said I will continue getting billed until end of year. We never went to that gym once since November, how is it possible I would be billed for a service I never used or even knew I had access to?Desired Settlement: A refund for 314.58 that were charged to my card for February, March and April, and a letter stating my membership has been cancelled.

Review: My membership was supposed to have been stopped because of medical issues, and I could not exercise or use my trainer. Now I am getting bills and late charges. I went to Affinity Fitness to discuss this issue, and they claim it was a temporary stop, which is not correct. Affinity has continued to bill me and assess late fees.Desired Settlement: Stop billing and credit my account appropriately.

Review: My boyfriend and I signed contracts in July with Affinity Fitness that state the gym is open from 5am to 11pm Monday through Thursday, 5am to 10pm on Friday and 7am to 7pm Saturday and Sunday. From the time we joined, we consistently had problems with the gym being open on time during the week. Some days, the people that were supposed to open were 20 to 30 minutes late but on a number of occasions they were over an hour late (one time in particular, the gym didn't open until after 6:30am). I called to speak to the owner quite a few times about the problem because we get to the gym before 5am so that we can be in and working out right away when the gym opens. We have schedules that we work around and 5am is when we can workout hence signing up for a gym that is supposed to be open at 5am. The owner, at the time, said he would work on correcting the situation and asked for our patience while he found someone new which I agreed to and we endured a number of additional late openings in the process. Since then, the woman that opens the gym is much better than before, but we're not always in at 5 (which is not the end of the world and we understand a few minutes off here and there), but we have had a couple 20+ minute late openings still...including today. I called to speak to the owner again because at this point, we're frustrated and want out of our contract since the establishment is not able to be open consistently at the time they contractually say they will be. The owner was rude, unapologetic and said that he didn't feel it was enough of a problem to release us from our contracts. He even said that there could be additional late openings in the future and that we'd just have to deal with it. The only way he will release the contract is if we pay for the remaining 7 months. I have never been treated so disrespectfully by a business owner when there is a clear issue at hand. He has no desire to correct the situation or do right by his customers.Desired Settlement: We simply want to be released from our contracts due to the fact that the business has not held up their end of the contract by being open consistently at 5am during the week.
