Signature Place Apartments

I was a resident of Signature Place in Greenville NC for 6 months. I had paid for the full month of Oct and request a refund for the $212. owed back I had paid for the full month rent of Oct .my lease ended Oct 21, I moved out early due to water damaged and leak to the B/R ceiling. I was told and promised I would get my full refund $212. and my security deposit of $99.00 and my 10 day credit of $12.90 from the washer and dryer. When the time for my refund came Signature Place and [redacted] director of Signature place decided to add a pet fee of $250.00 to my account. I had spoke with the manager and spoke about a emergency in the family ,to hold the dog .She said it was fine ,don't worry. This dog did NO damage at all to the apartment .I left the apart clean and undamaged. When I contacted [redacted] and [redacted] was rude and refused to take anything I said into consideration. and basically said I was dishonest. I do not appreciate that. I offered to pay a partial pet fee ,This is not right and really a dishonest method to obtain money from a resident whom always paid the rent on time. and caused no problems.I am requesting a partial refund from this Pet fee of $250.00 and that my security deposit be refunded. I did have to move out earlier then planned do to the bathroom ceiling getting ready to fall down ,from such bad water damage.Desired SettlementI am seeking my refund from my 10 days that I paid for of the month of Oct. the $212.00 ,the $12.90 washer and dryer refund ,and my 99.00 security deposit. They can deduct a $74.80 shampoo treat to the carpet that they do on every apartment anyways. My refund of $250.00,I caused no damages to that apartment and request my refund. They are seeking out extra bills just to keep money, I have heard and read other complains of this. I also request [redacted] in Raleigh ,NC to learn how to speak to residents of the business.Business Response I have spoken to Ms. [redacted] several times in regards to her complaint. I am sorry that she felt I was being rude or calling her dishonest. I was confused because the story had changed several times when I spoke to her.The property charges a $250 pet fee that is non-refundable. This is explained when a prospect moves in. We also inform the applicants/residents that they should inform us when an animal comes to stay. I explained to Ms. [redacted] that had the dog stayed for a few hours, we certainly would not charge her that, but by her own admission in an email, the dog stayed with her part-time. The maintenance staff and out pest control people were prevented from entering her apartment because of the dog. Ms. [redacted] was informed of the $250 in an email at the beginning of October and stated that she could not afford to pay it There was water damage to her apartment, but that has nothing to do with the pet fee. Ms. [redacted] even told my manager in an email that we could wait to repair because she was leaving. She also stated that she would love to rent from us again. It was not until she was charged the pet fee, that she became unhappy. I am sorry that she is unhappy about the pet fee, but she should have notified the office about the dog and paid it then. We charge all residents the same pet fee, no matter how long their lease term is.
