MY Name is Silas B [redacted] owner of Silas Auto Repair I'm Responding back on a Complaint that was put against me. On April 19, 2016 @ 8:00 am Customer [redacted] came by saying he is having car problems on his 1987 Honda Civic overheating going uphill and engine shaking at a stop light. Our... first policy is for all customers have to fill out a work order on what the common problem is. Now this is what he put down on the current problem: Power Loss when going up hill, Power Loss when stopping, Heats up when going up hill. But, he also mention that it has a New Gasket, Spark Plugs, Thermostat, Fuel Pump and Fuel Filter. By getting the information from him we assumed it was probably the carburetor needs to be rebuilt. So my mechanic rebuilt the carburetor and put it back on. That didn't fix the problem it was still overheating. We've called the customer and let him know that it didn't fix the problem. After that we've checked the compression and no compression at all on all cylinders. We then again we called the customer and they showed up at the shop. So. we discussed the next step which was to check to see if antifreeze is circulating in the block. In order to do that we had to remove the cylinder head. We then started to take off the cylinder head off come to find out that antifreeze wasn't circulating at all. So, we told the customer that the valves could be bent and that's why it's overheating. But, now it was mentioned by the customer April that another mechanic worked on the vehicle before it came to us. The mechanic that worked on it before is the one that replaced the head gasket and resurfaced the cylinder head. So, I suggested to the customer to take cylinder in a have them check to see if the valves were bent or been replaced. They took the cylinder head and brought it back 4 days over the weekend. After they brought cylinder head back we put it back on but, they did buy the cylinder head gasket. We put the timing belt back in and it was ready to start it turned but wouldn't start. We come to find out that the rocker arms on of cylinder head which is part of the camshaft was tight at all. I believe the people that checked the valves and resurfaced the cylinder head didn't tighten it back down. So, we had to take the cylinder head back off and come to find out all the valves were bent. So, we called the customer again with bad news. After awhile the father calls and tells me stop working on. Either you fix it or buy it. But, the customer showed up one day and took out there stuff and we were never told nothing about what to do next. So we thought they didn't want the car until we received a letter from BBB and a summons from the Sheriffs dept.

First: Absolutely 100% Highly Recommended!! My experience was late last July 2018, this review being delayed by my giving hospice care to my mate who at last passed I live in ABQ and was passing thru Farmington on my way to my mate/Oregon, when crappy work by One Stop Auto in ABQ led to my clutch & tranny biting the dust! Silas worked on my car over the weekend to help me get back on the road when every minute lost due to breakdown cut short the brief time together my mate and I had leftSilas did great work, professionally handled the warranty interaction w/ 1-Stop Auto in 'Burque when I'd have taken them behind the woodshed with a nailheaded bat & dismemberment implements; and was personally accommodating to me in every possible way during the days repairs required Also, MOST cost-reasonable, & worked with my paying out of my Disability incomeLastly: HAPPY to support a deserving local-owned, Native-owned & operated biz

The business owner of Silas Auto Repair (Silas) performed a diagnostic on my VW Beetle and determined that the vehicle needed a new turbo on or about 05/22/ Silas agreed to order the part and perform the replacement of the turbo The agreement was that I purchase the part in advance and the labor would be settled after the part was installedI purchased the turbo on 05/29/for $During that time, Silas called several times to inform me that he had payroll and need the labor paid in advance I refused to do soSilas called on 06/04/to advise the part had arrived and they would install that day I dropped the vehicle off 06/04/ I never received a call or update on the vehicle so I made several attempts to contact Silas on 06/07/to determine a status on the vehicle Silas advised that the mechanic had broken the turbo while removing it and additionally, the new turbo ordered was the wrong part I advised that the right part should be ordered and

Good Moring! My Name is Silas B[redacted] Owner Of Silas Auto Repair Shop on 308 Airport Dr.  I'm glad to respond to the complaint on the Oil Change situation. Customer came in the first time for an oil change but, didn't call head for an appointment. That is what the customers are suppose to do is...

call ahead so, I would have the oil & oil filter ready for the vehicle. That day we were pretty busy doing mechanical work on vehicles they needed to be done that day. So, most of the time I'm out chasing parts for vehicles that parts store can deliver. Yes, customer did go to the back of the shop to get the mechanic attention to ask about making an appointment for the oil change. Mechanic didn't know what to say or do because I do most of the appointments and price quotes. But, I did get a whole of the Customer and made an appointment the next morning. Customer dropped off her vehicle the next morning for the oil change and we delivered her vehicle back to her work. Customer called within 30 minutes with another complaint about the sticker for the next oil change and My Mechanic didn't reset the oil life % too. I told the customer to bring back and we're more than welcome to put one on and reset the oil life. But she said she'll take to a friend of hers that works at Jiffy Lube. But, I did apologize for not putting the oil change sticker on the windshield and the oil reset %. After, this experience with complaint from the customer for the oil change I had to let go of the mechanic.
