Silfies Fuel Reviews (2)

Review: On 4-26-10, Silfies Fuel of 2659 Beacon Rd in Bath, PA, filled our propane tank, and then some. "[redacted]" Silfies OVERFILLED the tank SEVERELY, causing dozens of leaking connections, all the way into our kitchen cooktop. The owner, Mr Silfies, came out the next day to inspect the tank, and blamed the leaks on what he called "bad valves". For the record, these valves had never leaked before the Silfies error. We contacted the company that we purchased the tank from, [redacted]. [redacted] from [redacted] had his servicemen tighten every valve outside the home. They were convinced that the leaks were caused by the careless overfilling of the tank by Silfies. The propane was pumped in so excessively that the needle on the gauge was still past the max fill line even days after the gross overfill. The max fill line is marked clearly on the gauge. No other propane company had ever overfilled our tank. Over the next several months we discovered additional leaks INSIDE the residence. My wife and I have paid for full system leak tests several times to ensure our safety and the safety of our children. After several repairs, and a consultation with the Pennsylvania Department of Labor and Industry in Harrisburg, we hope we have sealed all of the leaks created by [redacted] Silfies. We have sent Silfies Fuel three letters requesting reimbursement for the lost fuel and the repair costs, estimated to be $400.00. Silfies has ignored our requests, showing no sign of integrity. The consensus of opinion among the various experts who became involved in this nightmare is that [redacted] Silfies overfilled the tank beyond the max fill line, beyond the last digit on the gauge, and into unseen territory. All previous and subsequent fill ups by every gas vendor were stopped at the large, clearly marked, black line. When [redacted] was filling the tank he was pacing around in circles, talking on his cell phone, even wandering away from the tank. These technicians all know to pay close attention to the gauge because an overfill creates a dangerous situation. Even the regulators in our cooktop were leaking. We have spent a lot of time and money on this, lost a lot of fuel, and to this day continue to conduct extra leak tests thanks to Silfies' negligence. Not only do we seek reimbursement, but this is a public service message as well: "Do not use Silfies Fuel to fill your tank!"Desired Settlement: Full reimbursement of $400.00.

Review: Tried contacting Silfies fuel for propane delivery on the following dates:

Feb. 8th [redacted] Jr. cell phone

Feb. 10th [redacted] Jr. cell phone

Feb. 11th [redacted] Jr. cell phone

Feb. 11th Text message to [redacted] Jr.

Feb. 13th [redacted] Jr. cell phone

Feb. 13th Text message to [redacted] Jr.

Feb. 13th [redacted] Sr. cell phone

Feb. 13th Main Business phone-call was forwarded to [redacted] Sr. cell phone

Feb. 14th [redacted] Jr. cell phone

Both cell phone voice mail boxes were full and we were unable to leave any messages, that's when we tried to text message to try and get a response.

We are established customers for the past 1 1/2 years and have been left in a position of running out of fuel for heating, cooking and hot water in the middle of winter.Desired Settlement: Written apology for leaving customers in a dubious situation.
