Dear Consumer,
Our experience November with this contractor was extremely poorWe hired this contractor to do a kitchen remodel which turned out to be a very large mistakeOn the first time we met, the owner told us that we probably would not like his prices, but we hired him anyway due to the high rating he had on *** ***According to *** ***, which is a paid membership all contractors are verified to be licensed and insuredIn the contract that we eventually signed it was clearly stated that all work was to be done up to city and state codes, and all additional work to be done was to be written out on a change order and signed by both contractor and homeownerAfter the project was started we became concerned by the lack of professionalism the contractor portrayed to us as we asked about things we found being done that were clearly not up to the standards we were expectingAfter more than one dispute due to poor workmanship by the contractor and the sub-contractors employed by this business we finally terminatedThe sub-contractor cut a hole in our roof after both the general contractor and plumber both were told specifically NOT to touch the roof for any reason due to the homeowner being a union roofer of yearsThe general contractor decided on his own to have the plumber go up on our roof which he is a plumber not a roofer to cut a hole for a venting pipe and then try to improperly repair the damageThe contractor then tried to bill the homeowner for this unauthorized and incorrectly done repairThis was just one of many things the contractor tried to bill for by providing change order sheets filled out and signed by himself and not the homeownerAs stated in the contract, TWO signatures were to be needed to be legalNot a contractor signature and the words “verbal authorization given.” After so many problems like, cracked tiles in the bathroom done by the plumber with refusal to repair, refusal to install the light dimmer switches provided by the homeowner by the electrician, damage to the roof done by the plumber, the contractor was paid in full minus an agreed upon amount of $for poor work and work not yet completedAfter the contractor cashed the final check he decided to call and threaten us that if he did not receive more money he would put a mechanics lien on our property and notify the city of Aurora that work was done in the home with no permitWe as the homeowners, not taking to being threatened well, refused paying more money and notified the city of Aurora ourselvesWhen the contractor was notified that they were now involved, the contractor’s response was “I’m no longer part of that projectIt’s not my problem“When the city inspectors came and inspected our project it was found that much of the work was NOT done to code as stated in the contractIt was also discovered that the contractor has no license to do any construction workThe contractor holds only a business licenseUpon finding out much of our project needs to be redone we contacted the contractor’s insurance companyUnfortunately, his insurance company does not cover poor workmanship and business practicesWe were told by his agent that since it was unclear as to who actually did what with this remodel, He was able to tell us per conversation with the owner, who admitted that his plumber wasn’t licensedWe were advised by his agent that there were many other avenues we should pursue and he felt very sympathetic and apologize that he wasn’t able to help out moreHe carries no policy that can cover anything short of direct and malicious damage done so they can provide no help to us in this matterIt was also discovered by the city of Aurora that none of the sub-contractors that worked in our home were licensedAs a result, the work that was done was not able to pass inspection by our city inspectorsThis means that we are now obligated to repair all items found to be not up to code from our own pockets a second time, with the stipulation that all contractors be recognized by both city and state license boards and carry the permits to be allowed to work in our city for us to ever even be able to sell our home since remodeling has been doneWe therefor are now notifying the Revdex.com about this business and writing this review to warn anyone considering using this contractor that it potentially is a mistake and that they could very likely get scammed the way that we wereThis case will be going to court to be resolved due to the contractor’s inability to make the necessary legal repairs to our home due to the fact that neither he nor anyone he employs can legally work in our city due to the lack of being state and city licensed
