Complaint2010 Ford Edge Limited no longer in driving condition just after 2 months of purchase. I purchased a 2010 Ford Edge Limited 2 months ago July 2014 from Silver State Import (Raleigh, NC). First, I was satisfied with how Mr. [redacted] treated me during my buying experience and got me into the vehicle of my dreams. After looking online I chose this dealership do to the 5 star ??? ?? ratings I had seen from pervious customers online as well as the pride they took in selling reliable high quality used /pre owned vehicles that customers would be satisfied with for years to come. Well after purchasing my vehicle for over $13,000 cash my 2010 Ford Edge limited transmission had given out completely and no longer was in driving condition just after 2 months. After getting it towed to a repair shop they let me know that my transmission had fragments of metal in it as well as a grinding and clunking sound and it was beyond just rebuilding but needed to be replaced. I no longer have a reliable vehicle to get back and forth to work in. I trusted not only the Passed(Vehicle Emissions & Safety Inspection) paper that was given to me by the dealership but also their reputation and words they advertised that backed up their vehicles. I'm contacting you to see if there is anything that can be done about my unfortunate situation for my 4 year old vehicle is a "Lemon" and it's not even 90 days yet since purchase. Thank You!Desired SettlementRepair assistance since the vehicle did not hold up to be the reliable high quality used /pre owned vehicles advertised and promised to be. Business Response /[redacted] purchased her vehicle from [redacted] on 7/2/2014. One of her reasons for working with Silver State Imports was the 5 star reviews posted to our website from satisfied customers. We strive to offer quality vehicles for less. Most customers have a presale inspection done prior to purchase which [redacted] had the opportunity to do. [redacted] was also offered an extended warranty which she declined on the date of purchase. We always recommend the purchase of an extended warranty because they cover most mechanical failures. There is no way to predict a mechanical failure. Silver State Imports is willing to assist with getting a diagnosis and estimate based on our costs which could be a significant savings to [redacted]. If she agrees please contact [redacted] at Silver State Imports.[redacted]Silver State Imports Inc.Consumer Response /[redacted]/From what I'm understanding Silver State Imports is willing to assist (pay for) a diagnosis that I already had done on September 20, 2014 that came back (Transmission failure) which I have attached a copy of the Powertrain diagnosis to this complaint . So the assistance they are wanting to provide has already been done by me. The next step in this process is to repair my vehicle back to driving condition and five star quality that initially got me to purchase this vehicle. Obviously my vehicle is not in driving condition so I don't believe they are suggesting for me to tow my vehicle 2.5 hours away to Raleigh NC for a basic diagnosis. Since providing minimal assistance in this matter is what they are willing to provide then the amount of the previous diagnosis already paid I would be willing to accept so I can place that amount toward the expensive repair of replacing my transmission on my own. Also to let everyone from Camp Lejeune, Cherry Point and Camp Geiger/Marine Crop Air Station know that even traveling afar there is no GUARANTEES and to take this as a valuable lesson to pass on. Thank you! Final Consumer Response /[redacted]/(The consumer indicated he/she DID NOT accept the response from the business.)To date I never requested any specific amount toward repairs. The document provided was only to show my diagnostic results of the mechanical issue at hand. I only asked for repair assistance(of any amount)if felt lead to help due to this unfortunate situation on both parties. Anyone knows purchasing a vehicle for only 2 months and it breaks down is not what a customer expect from any buying experience. I don't feel Silver State Imports selling me a problematic vehicle was intentional but I would think any replicable dealership would exercise a good faith practice toward their loyal customers in any situation since they advertise high quality vehicles and to just simply stand behind their brand. When I respectfully called the dealership several times after the owner refused to answer my emails/calls I was quoted by my salesman that " Life happens" so with that being said I'll let the future potential customers judge for themselves. Basically, the dealership is ONLY willing to help with finding me quotes and estimates which I have already found several on angieslist.com right here in my home town. Unless this is properly resolved I would like all my friends and colleges that mentioned checking this place out once you get your military bonus check , income tax and deployment money please think twice and spend wisely. So if this is the final offer the dealership is willing to offer then I would like this case closed. For me towing my vehicle 125.35 miles at my expense and still having to pay for FULL repairs is not reasonable. Thank you Final Business Response /[redacted]/Our intention is for [redacted] to save money on the repair. In 13 years of being in the Used Car Industry Silver State never paid the amount submitted by [redacted] to replace a transmission. If [redacted] is able to save up to $3000.00 on the repair it would be worth her while to have car towed to Raleigh. We do what we can to help our customers given the opportunity. This is another reason we always recommend extended warranties to our customers. Thank you

we bought this used 2006 mustang convertible and had multiple problems with this car we want exchange or our money back its a lemonWe asked the salesman for a car history report from carfax before we bought the vehicle. We were not given a history report and was told that carfax history report was ran and came back clean. We had ran the carfax history report ourselves finding out there were multiple issues with this vehicle. We would have never purchased this vehicle if we had seen this report. There were multiple things wrong with this car and had asked the dealer to fix them. They said they would take care of the issues and all of them were not taken care of. We had just bought this vehicle 2 months ago. We find more problems occurring as time goes on since we had the vehicle in which there is a problem with the wiring for the convertible top the windows and the radio stopped working. The front driver side wheel cylinder seems to be freezing up. there is a tremendous amount of break dust on the wheel compared to all other wheels on the vehicleDesired SettlementWe want a refund at this time due to multiple issues with the vehicle and also being lied to about the carfax history report coming back clean. there has been several accidents with this vehicleBusiness Response /[redacted]/Mr. [redacted] purchased a 2006 Ford Mustang on 9/2/2014. The vehicle was listed on our website along with the free Carfax report available to all perspective buyers. Our staff prints all carfaxes upon request.Had Mr. [redacted] asked, we would have gladly printed a Carfax for him to review. Mr. [redacted] requested multiple repairs be done to the vehicle in writing and all were accomplished successfully.Mr. [redacted] took delivery of vehicle after repairs were completed and was extremely satisfied. Several days later his feeling about the car changed. It has come to our attention that the car was involved in an accident since the purchase which could explain further mechanical issues he is now experiencing. Mr. [redacted] requested to trade vehicle but due to the accident the vehicle does not hold the same value.During the process of evaluating Mr. [redacted] vehicle he decided the best course of action was to slander our dealership to prospective buyers at our store. We had no recourse but to demand he leave our lot and not return. Mr. [redacted] has gotten the DMV inspector involved to ensure all aspects of the transaction were done properly which DMV concluded the transaction and documentation was correct.Due to Mr. [redacted] outlandish behavior on our lot and the condition of the vehicle after the accident we have no further obligations to assist him.Consumer Response /[redacted]/The owner is a total liar if we were extremely satisfied we surely wouldn't go about contacting the Revdex.com to have this problem resolved. I am very very unsatisfied and angry. I have spoken with the owner of the company and he told me that they were not doing anything to our car and hung up on me. I would have never bought a car from this place if I would have known that they would run a business as poorly as they have. I would let every person that was interested in purchasing a vehicle there to go elsewhere. This needs to be resolved ASAP I am extremely mad. And another thing I hit a small pole and there is a minor ding which is not the result of mechanical issues. I told a person at the lot that we were having trouble with having our car fixed or replaced and said to them that we bought a lemon and now they wont handle their mess. Was absolutely no slander involved. We would not go to this extreme if the things that the owner are saying were true. Why would we bother taking this step if our car had been fixed. Thank you!!!!!!

The car I purchased on October 2015 for $20,795 plus tax was in desperate need of many repairs but I was lead to believe it was in good condition. I purchased a black 2007 BMW 335i for $10,795 plus tax. I even purchased the most expensive warranty available for my car that was offer in anticipation of future repairs, not immediate repairs. The car has two places where oil is coming from which I found out when the car indicated that the oil was low. This was after driving for about two months. There were also gaskets and brushings (not sure of the complete technical terms)that need repairs. Things that should have been repaired prior to purchase (existing conditions/old injury) Desired SettlementI would like for the business to pay for the repairs needed. The problems were that of any dealership would have known about prior to selling and should have never, with good conscience, sold to a customer. This type of business soils the reputation of a business. I can't, in good conscience recommend this company to ANYONE because I was sold as close as you can get to a lemon. Business Response Contact Name and Title: [redacted] Contact Phone: XXXXXXXXXXContact Email: [redacted]@silverstateimports.netLet me preface this reply by saying it's rather unfortunate the customer did not contact us to see what options were available before contacting the Revdex.com. The customer had the car for three months and because the vehicle suddenly develops a leak this has become our problem. If vehicle had a leak from day one, why was there such a delay in reporting this to us? We have a proven track record of helping customers in similar situations and most likely would have in this case, but the customer chose another avenue. The repair order we received shows the need to replace wear and tear seals which is to be expected on a vehicle with 122,000.The customer did purchase an extended warranty and should contact them to see if repairs are covered under warranty.Silver State Imports respectfully declines any further assistance to Ms [redacted].Consumer Response Thank you for your response [redacted], however the oil leak was one that was noticed because the warning light appeared on the dash that the oil was dangerously low. Most of the oil had leaked out. It took three months for it to do so. It was a slow leak. This vehicle did not SUDEENLY develop an oil leak. The avenue I chose to take was to report this to the Revdex.com because I was told that the car is AS IS (also it was outside of the 30 days of purchase) so I did choose to purchase a warranty, and I did contact the company, and the warranty did not cover ANYTHING!! I mentioned that they would not cover anything in the first conversation we had over the phone. That is something you were aware of before being in contact with the company that made repairs. "Respectfully declining" to assist a customer does not make the decision right. Using the word respectfully may make your response appear to have customer care attached to it, but it does not. Purchasing a car, and having it for a around three months and needing major repairs is very disappointing to a car owner. That disappointment accompanied by the fact the Silver State Imports refusing to assist in repairs is unbelievable. If you are thinking of purchasing a vehicle from this dealership, I urge you to reconsider. You never know which car will be the death of your purse strings by piling more and more money into repairs. Warn your friends and take your business elsewhere. It's all smiles when you are buying, and unfortunate for me, the service with a smile ended there. RUN!!Final Business Response Everyone's opinion is different when purchasing a pre owned car as to what constitutes a good purchase. We sell clean high end cars averaging 100,000 miles which makes price attractive to pre owned buyers in the $15,000.00 and under market. Cars with higher miles can and should expect wearable items such as tires, brakes, belts, hoses and gaskets to need replacing during routine maintenance. No one can predict when a seal or gasket will fail but if this was a problem before the sale it would have been addressed. After three months of ownership we cannot be expected to cover a wearable item that a warranty company won't cover, but we could recommend a shop that is more reasonable to work with if asked? There is no such thing as a perfect pre owned car and we don't represent ours that way. We encourage a pre-sale inspection by anyone looking to purchase a vehicle.

I bought a 2005 Acura TL from [redacted] and the owner [redacted] for $8000. The sale started with [redacted] but ended with the owner [redacted] because [redacted] was unavailable. [redacted] raved over the car and how it was in such good shape. We spoke on if anything significant happened to the car when I drove off the lot. [redacted] said "its an As Is" sale, but they had a moral responsibility. I bought the car March 19th and March 20th I started hearing some squeaking. Turns out that my back brakes needed to be replaced. I asked [redacted] and [redacted] could they at least pay half of the brakes since I just drove the car off the lot. They said they didn't make anything off the car and couldn't. The next week I go to turn my air conditioner on and the a/c didn't work. I checked antifreeze and the buttons. I took it to a mechanic and they told me it needed a new a/c compressor, dry air receiver, expansion valve, and new Freon. I called [redacted] and he said they had no idea the a/c didn't work. He said there was nothing they could do. My complaint is this is bad business. They should have let me know about the defects in the car. They have inspectors and mechanics that check these things. They knew the brakes were about to give out. And they had to know the a/c didn't work. I paid $100 for my back brakes, and my a/c [redacted] cost $600 on the low end to get fixed. This is very bad business. The customer should be alerted about these problems and let it be up to them to buy. Those were two significant problems.Product_Or_Service: Back Brakes & [redacted] Auto CareDesired SettlementI want this way of conducting business be documented and I want them to refund me for the noted problems that I paid for. Business Response /[redacted]/Mr. [redacted] had a repair estimate from his mechanic to fix the a/c for $585.00. We issued him check for the repair. Consumer Response /[redacted]/Silver State Imports gave me a check for $585 for my A/C to be repaired which is the first quote I gave them. Turns out that quote was incorrect and I let Silver State know and they said $585 is the best that they would do. I accepted. They did not reimburse for the brakes. Even though I accepted the check for $585 I am not satisfied because I feel I should have got reimbursed for everything. I will not refer anybody to Silver State. I feel paying $8000 for a car things like your brakes and A/C should be in good condition before purchase unless told that they need replaced. I had to pay $777 for my A/C to get fixed and that was through a friend's discount. That's $877 worth of work detected with the car within 7 days. The brakes started squeaking the very next day after driving off the lot. In my opinion that is bad business. I recommended me bring the car back for them to take care of the A/C and they denied that because they knew how expensive it would be.Final Business Response /[redacted]/Mr. [redacted] purchased a vehicle on 3/19/2014 with 206,821 miles. All cars are required to pass ** state inspection.Silver State recommends presale inspection on all vehicles to avoid issues after the sale in this case the brake pads needing routine replacement.Mr. [redacted] called a week later and informed us the air conditioner was not working. We asked for an estimate and agreed to pay the full repair as a goodwill gesture even though he purchased the vehicle "as is". Mr. [redacted] asked about bringing the car here from GA after his shop increased the repair cost. This was fine. Mr. [redacted] decided this was not a good option and sent his father in to retrieve check.Final Consumer Response /[redacted]/(The consumer indicated he/she DID NOT accept the response from the business.)After I was quoted a higher price due to making sure I got a new compressor with a warranty I agreed to bring the car back from Ga for them to repair the air conditioner. I was told that I would only get the $585 that the owner agreed upon initially. I was told there was no need to bring the car back to Silver State. I was told that they didn't have to give me anything but out of good faith they would give me the $585. They knew from the beginning it was much more than $585 to fix the air conditioner thoroughly.
