Silverton Road Automotive is aware of the complaint by Mr***, but are puzzled as to why it has led to him contacting Revdex.com over it since our technicians spoke with him on several occasions and he continuously stated that everything was fine and not to worryHe was even asked what it is we can do
for him to correct the issue
To sight a few points:
We do not use or recommend Royal Purple engine oil in any of our customer's vehicles nor do we stock it for vehicles as it is too expensive for our facility to charge our customers for and we use a different brand synthetic engine oil
We have nowhere to "store" the oil emptied from Mr***'s containers if it was not used in his vehicle
The oil, whichever color it starts as when entering the vehicle never remains the same for the very fact that when it is run through the engine it mixes with any residual oil in any of the serveral different internal engine voidsNot all of the oil can be drained at time change of change
Mr*** never requested to speak with the Owner/Manager, who could give authority to assist Mr*** furtherWe do point out that we also are at fault here as none of the technicians that assisted Mr*** got the Manager/Owner, Kris, involved in the issueWe have since corrected this issue at a recent staff meeting since this incidentSide note, Kris was out of office assisting another customer from the time Mr*** left the first time and the time when he called our facility
Upon receiving this notice, I myself asked to see the oilKris poured some of the residual oil from one of the containers onto a white sheet of paper where as I could barely discern a dark purple hue when being poured, the oil on the paper looked to me to be a dark color
Silverton Road Automotive is an honest and fair shop, we only hire and employ honest and trustworthy people at our facility and we pride ourselves on these qualities
Mr*** brought his vehicle to us for an oil change and brought with him his own oil (5-quart and 1-quart) and filterThis is a service we provide and it is typical for us to use customer supplied parts, commodities, etc
Our technician Megan performed the work while Mr*** waitedShe placed the car on the lift and changed the oil and filter and also performed our points inspection which she noted on his work orderWhen the vehicle was being backed out, Kris noticed that the left rear brake light was outHe instructed megan to facilitate the service of the repairMegan proceeded to repair the connection (this is typical ce we provide) with Mr*** watching (which our technicians are fully comfortable with as long as customers are not in the shop, according to insurance regulations) also with no charge to Mr***
Mr *** paid his bill and left
Megan has stated that it was about 15-minutes when Mr*** returnedMr*** pulled the dipstick and stated to Megan that the oil is not purple in color and that he has performed every oil change on his vehicle since purchased from the dealer and that he has always changed his oilMr*** then opened another quart of the Royal Purple, stuck his finger in and showed Megan the colorShe explained to him that she did indeed use his oil and showed him the empty containers, which we still have at this timeShe stated that he was visibly upset and that he stated to never mind because he did not want to get her in troubleMegan then got Randy, one of our senior technicians to assist
Mr*** again explained that he is sure we did not use his oil as he has changed his oil a million times with the purple oilRandy explained to Mr*** that an oil may go in purple but will change when ran through the engineRandy assured Mr*** that we did indeed use his oil and he can view the empty containers if he wants toMr*** stated OK, thank you very much and left
Randy states that it was within minutes when Mr*** called our facility stating that we just changed his oil but was sure we did not use his oilRandy again assured Mr*** that we did use his oil and that we have the empty containers to prove it, that we are a top-notch automotive repair facility, that Megan is as honest as they come and that we are an honest facility and ther is no reason for us to have done what he is accusing us ofAt this point Randy asked Mr*** what it is he would like from usMr*** stated that he wanted to let us know that he was sure we did not use his oilRandy stated that he was sure that if Mr*** had the oil tested it would prove that it is his oilRandy questioned why Mr*** chose now to have a facility change his oil and Mr*** stated that everything was alright, thank you and good bye
We would like to offer Mr*** an opportunity to watch us change his oil at no labor cost ($17.95) to himWe cannot with good conscience offer Mr*** anything else as that would be admitting guilt
